Chapin G6015 Wet/Dry Hose End Sprayer

Instructions and Warnings

Product Overview

Congratulations on purchasing the Chapin G6015, a versatile hose-end sprayer designed for ease of use and multi-purpose functionality. This sprayer allows for spraying wet or dry applications, such as fertilizers or pesticides, without pre-mixing. It automatically blends liquid concentrates with water at the rate set by the manufacturer.

For optimal performance and years of trouble-free service, please read these instructions carefully.

Diagram and Components

The sprayer consists of four main components and three adjustment mechanisms:

  • 1. Sprayer Head: Features a lever valve for wet/dry/off control and a dial for selecting the desired mixing ratio. The switch should be set to 'wet' or 'dry' based on the chemical used, and to 'OFF' when not in use or during setup.
  • 2. Suction Tube: Connects to the sprayer head and draws concentrate from the tank.
  • 3. Strainer Basket (with seal): Holds dry product or acts as a filter for liquid concentrates.
  • 4. Poly Concentrate Tank: Holds the liquid or dry concentrate.
  • 5. Wet/Dry/Off Switch (Grey): Controls the flow mode (wet spray, dry application, or off).
  • 6. 4-Position Nozzle Adjustment: Allows selection of spray pattern (deflection down, deflection up, shower, stream).
  • 7. Mix Ratio Dial (Yellow): Sets the desired dilution rate for concentrates, calibrated in ounces per gallon.

Operating Instructions

ALWAYS FOLLOW CHEMICAL LABEL DIRECTIONS.

  1. Ensure the suction tube is firmly inserted into the sprayer head.
  2. For dry products, place the dry product in the strainer basket and then put the basket into the tank. For liquid products, pour directly into the tank through the strainer basket (always follow chemical manufacturer's instructions).
  3. Screw the tank onto the sprayer head, ensuring the suction tube passes through the strainer basket hole.
  4. Connect the water hose. Ensure the switch (5) is in the 'OFF' position. Select the desired mixing ratio using the yellow dial (7). Turn the grey thumb control switch (5) to 'WET' for liquid products or 'DRY' for dry products.
  5. To stop spraying, turn the switch (5) to the 'OFF' position. Turn off the water supply before disconnecting the sprayer from the hose and when refilling the tank.
  6. To spray water only, turn the mix ratio dial (7) to the 'OFF' position and the switch (5) to 'WET'.

Setting and Using the Sprayer

Turn the yellow mix ratio dial (7) until the desired setting number is visible within the curved notch. The sprayer is calibrated in ounces per gallon. Refer to the following table for mix ratios:

Mix Ratio SettingDilution Rate (per gallon)
OFFWater only
12 TSP
21 TBS / 3 TSP
34 TSP
41 OZ / 2 TBS / 6 TSP
53 TBS / 9 TSP
62 OZ / 4 TBS / 12 TSP
73 OZ / 6 TBS / 18 TSP
84 OZ / 8 TBS / 24 TSP
95 OZ / 10 TBS / 30 TSP
106 OZ / 12 TBS / 36 TSP
118 OZ / 16 TBS / 48 TSP

IMPORTANT NOTE: This sprayer is designed to work most accurately at 40 to 60 pounds of water pressure. At lower pressures, the dilution rate of each setting will be lower. At higher pressures, the dilution rate of each setting will be higher. If your water pressure is not within the recommended limits, test the amount of chemicals you are spraying at your desired setting.

TEST YOUR PRODUCT FIRST TO UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH TO SPRAY: Set the dial adjustment (7) to the desired amount of concentrate sprayed per gallon of water. Fill the concentrate tank (4) with the exact amount of chemical required to cover the square footage specified by the chemical manufacturer's instructions. For example, if the instructions state 1 ounce for 10 square feet, fill the tank accordingly. Evenly spray and cover the desired 10 square foot area until the tank is empty.

Note: Water acts as the vehicle for delivering the chemical. As long as the predetermined area is covered with the appropriate amount of chemical, the water volume is inconsequential. Setting the mix ratio helps control how quickly the chemical is delivered per gallon. Higher settings deliver more product with less water.

Cleaning Your Sprayer

It is important to flush out your sprayer after each use to ensure trouble-free siphoning action and reduce contamination between concentrates.

  1. Remove concentrates from the bottle and filter basket, and fill with clear water.
  2. Set the yellow dial (7) to "8 OZ" and the grey flow adjustment (5) to "DRY". Spray until the bottle is empty. Rotate the nozzle selector to flush particles through each nozzle selection.
  3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for a thorough flush.

If the sprayer is not cleaned, it may not siphon properly next time. Dried concentrate can clog openings in the mixing head or nozzle orifice. If rinsing does not clear the openings, a pointed object may be carefully used to break through the dried concentrate, taking care not to damage any opening.

Warnings and Safety Information

WARNING: Always wear eye protection that complies with current ANSI Standard Z87.1.

Do not spray during windy conditions or allow spray to reach people or animals.

Clean sprayer and bottle thoroughly after each use to prevent contamination between different concentrates.

ATTENTION: This sprayer contains an internal backflow valve. When connecting to a potable water supply, always follow all local codes for proper backflow prevention.

Notice: Higher pressures from the source water supply may activate the internal backflow preventor while spraying. This may result in some residual water expressing from the hose connection point. This is normal and indicates the backflow valve is functioning properly.

Before using, read and understand chemical manufacturer's instructions and warnings, as well as those in this sprayer instruction pamphlet.

Do not spray water into an electrical outlet. Severe electrical shock could result in death.

FAILURE TO HEED ALL SAFETY WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
