Meet Your SmartThings™ Hub
The SmartThings Hub wirelessly connects your various sensors, allowing you to receive real-time alerts and remotely control devices in your home or office. Here's how it works:
Key Capabilities:
- Open Protocol Support: The SmartThings Hub communicates with many different languages and wireless protocols, including ZigBee, Z-Wave, and IP, enabling seamless integration with a wide range of devices.
- Internet Connectivity: Connect the included Ethernet cable from the Hub to your internet router. This establishes a secure connection between your Hub and the SmartThings Cloud.
- Information and Command Relay: When a connected SmartThings or compatible sensor detects an event (e.g., motion, door opening), the Hub receives the message and sends it to your smartphone. It also allows you to send commands back to devices and enables device-to-device communication (e.g., motion detection triggering a light).
Getting Around the Hub
The SmartThings Hub is designed for simplicity, with no physical buttons to manage.
Hub Ports:
- A. Power Port: A Micro-USB connection for the included power adapter and cable.
- B. Ethernet Jack: Provides internet connectivity via the included Ethernet cable.
- C. Status Light: An indicator light that shows the Hub's operational status.
Welcome Code
Your SmartThings Hub includes a unique Welcome Code on the "Let's Get Started" card. This code is essential for registration. It will look similar to this example:
Example Welcome Code: ABC123
