Product Overview & Features

The Giant Recon Plus HL1400 is a high-performance bicycle front light engineered for superior visibility and safety. It features a durable CNC casing and offers multiple lighting modes for various riding conditions.

Key Indicators

  • R: Tail Light Indicator: Facilitates pairing with the TL300R tail light for synchronized operation.
  • L: Battery Level Indicator: Displays the current battery charge status through color codes.

Controls

Operation is managed via a Power/Mode Switch, enabling selection of Full Power mode and other settings such as High, Mid, Low, and Flash modes.

Warnings and Safety Precautions

⚠️ Powerful Beam:

This light emits an extremely powerful beam, comparable to an automobile headlight. Exercise caution to prevent hazardous situations arising from beam angle. Always direct the light beam downward to avoid dazzling approaching drivers. Do not use high mode on public roads.

Mounting & Use:

  • Before riding, ensure the light is securely mounted, illuminated, and unobstructed by baggage.
  • Do not stare directly at the illuminated light, as it may cause eye damage.
  • Keep the light out of children's reach.
  • Carry a spare light for unexpected battery depletion.

Water Resistance & Cleaning:

  • The product is water-resistant for normal daily use and rain. Avoid intentional submersion in water.
  • Clean the light unit or parts with a soft cloth moistened with mild soap. Do not use paint thinner, benzene, or alcohol, as these can cause damage.
  • The unit is shipped with a partial charge. Ensure it is fully charged before first use, following the "HOW TO CHARGE" instructions.

Operation and Controls

Power Management

Ensure the power is unlocked before initial use.

  • Unlock Remote: Press any button for 5 seconds for first use.
  • Unlock Power: Press the power button for 5 seconds.
  • Lock Power: Press the power button for 5 seconds until the red light flashes for 3 seconds.
  • Check Battery: In unlock mode, short-press the power button. The indicator will display charge status colors for 3 seconds.

Lighting Modes

Cycle through modes using the Power/Mode Switch: Full Power, High, Mid, Low, and Flash.

Battery Indicator

The battery level is indicated by color:

  • GREEN: 100-70%
  • ORANGE: 70-40%
  • RED: 40-10%
  • RED BLINK: 10-0%

How to Charge

Always charge the product before use.

Connect the USB-C cable to the light. Charging time is approximately 2-4 hours for the main unit and about 1 hour for the remote.

Charging Status Indicators:

  • Recharging: Indicator light shows FLASHING GREEN.
  • Charging Complete: Indicator light shows CONSTANT GREEN.

When the battery level drops below 10% (indicated by a blinking red light), the light automatically switches to flash mode to conserve battery life.

Installation

Standard Handlebar Mount

To mount the light:

  1. Attach the mounting bracket to the handlebar.
  2. Secure the bracket by tightening the screw to the specified torque (5 kgf/cm or 0.5 Nm).
  3. Click the light unit onto the mounted bracket until it is securely in place.

Helmet / Computer Extension Mount

Use the mounting buckle and/or thumb screw as appropriate for your mount. The light can be attached to a helmet or a computer extension mount using compatible adapters.

Pairing Instructions

Pairing the Front Light with the Recon Plus TL300R

To pair the Recon Plus HL1400 with the TL300R tail light:

  1. Unlock the front light and turn on the tail lights.
  2. Press and hold both buttons on the front light for 5 seconds until the indicator light flashes blue.
  3. Bring the front light close (within 10 cm) to the Recon Plus TL300R.
  4. When the front light's indicator flashes blue, press any button on the remote control to complete pairing.
  5. Both indicators will display solid blue for 2 seconds upon successful pairing. The head light will show a solid blue light on its right side.
  6. Pairing mode automatically ends if no button is pressed within 2 minutes.
  7. To UNPAIR: Press and hold both buttons on the head light for 10 seconds until the side indicator light flashes blue. Unpairing may disconnect other paired devices; re-pair them as necessary.

Pairing with Computers (e.g., Garmin)

To connect the Recon Plus HL1400/HL2600/TL300R with a Garmin computer:

  • Ensure both the Garmin computer and the light units are charged.
  • Turn on the light units; they are now ready for connection.
  • Keep the light units in close proximity to the Garmin computer.
  • On the Garmin device, navigate to Settings > Sensors & Accessories, then select "Add Sensor" or "Search".
  • When the light units (HL2600, HL1400, TL300R) appear on the list, select them.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions on the Garmin device to finalize pairing.
  • A confirmation message will appear on the Garmin once connected.
  • The Garmin can now control the light's power status:
    • The light turns on and off with the Garmin device.
    • The light activates when your timer starts and deactivates when your ride finishes.
  • Note: Use the "INDIVIDUAL" setting on the Garmin for optimal light control.
