Charging your watch
The watch uses a solar cell under the dial to charge a built-in rechargeable cell. Expose the dial to light (sunlight or fluorescent lamps) for charging. For optimal performance:
- Place the watch in bright light, like near a window, even when not in use.
- Expose the dial to direct sunlight for 5-6 hours weekly.
- Avoid dark places for extended periods.
CAUTION: Do not charge at high temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F) to prevent malfunction. If sleeves frequently obscure the dial, supplemental charging may be needed. The watch has an overcharging prevention function.
When the watch reaches a low charge state (insufficient charge warning function)
The second hand moves every two seconds. Charge the watch immediately. When sufficiently charged, the second hand returns to normal movement. If not charged for 10+ days after warning, the watch will stop.
During insufficient charge warning: Time, date, and day of week are indicated correctly, but other modes/functions may be unavailable.
Charging time by environment
Approximate charging times for continuous light exposure:
Environment | Illuminance (lx) | To work for one day | To start working normally when cell is discharged | To become fully charged when cell is discharged |
---|---|---|---|---|
Outdoors (sunny) | 100,000 | 12 minutes | 9.5 hours | 30 hours |
Outdoors (cloudy) | 10,000 | 30 minutes | 25 hours | 70 hours |
20cm (7-7/8 inches) from a fluorescent lamp (30W) | 3,000 | 1.5 hours | 70 hours | - |
Interior lighting | 500 | 8 hours | - | - |
Direct sunlight is recommended for charging; fluorescent lamps or interior lighting may not provide sufficient illumination.
After charged fully, the watch runs without additional charging
- Standard use with a smartphone: About 9 months (connection function available for about 100 days).
- Using with no smartphones: About 1.5 years.
Cautions when connected with a smartphone: Long connection times and frequent notifications consume power. Keep the watch sufficiently charged. Disconnect the smartphone when not needed. Ensure the smartphone is also charged.
Power save function
The second hand stops automatically in dark conditions to save power. The watch functions normally while power save is active. Power save does not operate if the crown is in position 1 or 2, the mode is [CHR] or [ALM], or the second hand indicates a notification.
Canceling the power save function
Power save ends when the watch is operated, exposed to light, or receives time info/notification.
Adjusting the time and calendar manually

- Change mode to [TME] (page 2) and pull crown to position 2.
- Press and hold lower right button A for 2 seconds. The second hand stops at 0 second, and the minute hand moves slightly.
- Press and release lower right button A repeatedly to select what to correct: Hour/minute → date → year/month → day of week. Hands/indications move slightly when adjustable.
- Rotate the crown to adjust the selected item. Hour, minute, and 24-hour hands move synchronously. Date advances every 5 crown rotations. Rapid rotation allows continuous movement.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4.
- Push crown to position 0 to finish, using a reliable time source.
Month and year indications
Set year and month using the second hand position, referring to the dial illustration and table for years since leap year.

If time or calendar is incorrect after time reception, check the reference position. If hands/indications are not aligned correctly, accuracy will be affected.
What is the reference position?
The base position for all hands and calendar to indicate functions correctly:
- Hour, minute, second hands: 0 hour 00 minute 0 second
- 24-hour hand: "24"
- Date indication: Midway between "31" and "1"

Procedure to check and correct:
- Change mode to [CHR] (page 2) and pull crown to position 2. The second hand moves to the stored reference positions.
- Press and hold lower right button A for 2 seconds. Hands and indications move to reference positions. Release button as they start moving.
- Check reference positions against the illustration.
- If correct, push crown to position 0 and set mode to [TME].
- If incorrect, proceed to step 4. Push crown to position 0.
- Press and release lower right button A. Function hand moves slightly, making hands/date adjustable.
- Press and release lower right button A repeatedly to select what to correct: Function hand/date → hour, minute, 24-hour hands → second hand. Function hand points "60" (straight above) when adjusting hour, minute, 24-hour hands.
- Rotate the crown to adjust. Hands move synchronously. Date advances every 5 rotations.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6.

- Calendar: January 1 of leap year, Sunday
- Local time: ±0 from UTC
- Alarm setting: ALM OFF
- Alarm time: 0:00 AM
- Registration information of smartphones: Kept, with registration information 1 set as connection target.
- Connection status: OFF

Eco-Drive watch handling precautions
CAUTION Always Make Sure to Recharge Frequently
Long sleeves can inhibit light transmission, potentially causing the watch to lose charge. Place the watch in bright locations when not in use. Expose to direct sunlight for 5-6 hours weekly. Avoid dark places.
CAUTION Recharging Precautions
Do not charge at high temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F) as it may cause malfunction. Keep a distance of at least 50 cm (19-11/16 inches) from heat-generating light sources like incandescent lamps. Avoid charging in extremely hot locations like a vehicle dashboard.
CAUTION Replacement of Rechargeable Cell
This watch uses a special rechargeable cell that does not require periodic replacement. However, wear and tear may increase power consumption over years. The cell should never be removed by the user. If removal is necessary, keep out of reach of children. Dispose of the cell according to local regulations.
WARNING Handling of Rechargeable Cell
Never use a battery other than the specified rechargeable cell. Using an incorrect battery could lead to overcharging, rupture, damage, or injury.
Water resistance
WARNING Water resistance
Refer to the watch dial/case back for water resistance indication (e.g., W.R. x bar). The chart below provides usage examples.

Remove protective stickers to prevent skin irritation or corrosion.
CAUTION When Wearing Your Watch
Band
Leather and rubber bands deteriorate over time. Replace periodically. Leather bands may be affected by moisture, causing discoloration or rash. Avoid contact with volatile substances, bleach, or alcohol. Ultraviolet light can cause discoloration. Do not wear bands too tightly. Rubber bands may stain from clothing; replace if elasticity is lost or cracks appear. Seek professional adjustment/repair for band abnormalities.
Temperature
Watch may stop or function improperly outside the operating temperature range (-10°C to +60°C).
Magnetism
Strong magnetism can affect the timekeeping accuracy of analog quartz watches.
