Device Expandability
EcoFlow STREAM devices support system expansion to increase total battery capacity, enable power planning, provide unified app-based management, and offer flexible installation for various areas. Multiple STREAM series devices can be installed based on your specific requirements.
Option 1: Cascaded Single Room Configuration
This configuration connects multiple STREAM devices in a single room using a daisy-chain layout to expand system capacity. Devices are connected via parallel cables or an AC cable and share a common mains input. The device directly connected to the grid acts as the main unit, while others act as sub-units within the cascade, participating in power supply and control.
To enable parallel connection for a cascaded system:
- Before Parallel Connection: Ensure all STREAM devices are powered off. If mains or solar connections are present, disconnect the cables, then press and hold the operation button for 2 seconds to turn off the device.
- During Parallel Connection:
- Configuration A: Parallel connection of an EcoFlow STREAM Max with an EcoFlow STREAM AC. Use an AC cable to connect the two devices. Then connect the mains port of the EcoFlow STREAM Max to the mains via another AC cable.
- Configuration B: Parallel connection of STREAM devices with a parallel port. Use an EcoFlow STREAM Parallel Cable to connect the mains port of the EcoFlow STREAM AC to the parallel port of another STREAM device, securing both ends with screws. Refer to the user manual of the other STREAM devices for mains connection and parallel connection instructions.
After Parallel Connection: Open the EcoFlow App to connect the STREAM devices to your account. Ensure all devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. For Configuration A, connect the two devices in the EcoFlow App for full parallel connection.
- The device is always at the end of the connection chain during parallel connection.
- STREAM devices automatically power on once connected to an active power source.
Important Notes:
- Parallel connection should only be performed when the main unit is disconnected from the mains.
- In case of mains connection failure, parallel units cannot function as a system and operate independently.
- The standard protective cap should be fitted on any unused terminals.
- Up to 6 STREAM devices can be installed in a system. Cascaded and distributed configurations can be freely combined within this limit.
To remove a cascaded system:
- Disconnect the main unit from the mains and all devices from any solar input. If either the mains or solar connection is present, powering off the devices will not be effective.
- Press and hold the operation button for 2 seconds to turn off each device.
- Remove the AC cable or parallel cable between the STREAM devices. To remove an AC cable, disconnect both ends directly. To remove a parallel cable, loosen the screws on both ends of the parallel cable to release the connectors, then turn the connector counter-clockwise and remove the cable.
- Open the EcoFlow App and disconnect the devices from your account as needed.
Option 2: Distributed Configuration for Multiple Rooms
This setup is only permissible if local electrical regulations allow direct plugging of the device into a household outlet.
This configuration allows for the installation of STREAM devices in different rooms, offering flexible placement throughout the home. Each device connects individually to a mains outlet on the same circuit, while simultaneously sharing battery resources across the entire system. Synchronized energy management and communication are enabled by existing home wiring and Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for physical parallel wiring.
To install a distributed system:
- Connect the EcoFlow STREAM AC cable to the mains port of a STREAM device to an outlet, then secure the screw on the connector. Tip: STREAM devices automatically power on once connected to an active power source.
- Connect additional STREAM devices separately in the rooms where you wish to assign them.
- Open the EcoFlow App to bind the STREAM devices to your account. Ensure all devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
To remove a distributed system:
- Turn off and disconnect the connected devices.
- Disconnect all STREAM devices from the mains and any solar input. If either connection is present, powering off the devices will not be effective.
- Press and hold the operation button for 2 seconds to turn off each device.
- Move or store the devices as needed.
- Open the EcoFlow App and disconnect the devices from your account as needed.
- The standard protective cap should be fitted on any unused terminals.
- Up to 6 STREAM devices can be installed in a system. Cascaded and distributed configurations can be freely combined within this limit.
System Planning
The STREAM device supports a basic power planning scheme. Without an integrated Smart Sensor, the feed-in power cannot be adjusted in real-time to household power consumption. Instead, it can only be manually set to a fixed power level or scheduled for specific time periods via the EcoFlow App. Intelligent sensor integration enhances planning capabilities.
Flexible Planning with Smart Plug
A Smart Plug allows you to manage when devices are turned on or off via the EcoFlow App, offering more flexibility in physical placement. Once integrated into the system, STREAM devices adjust feed-in power based on the total load of devices connected to the Smart Plug, prioritizing their power supply and backup resources.
To add a Smart Plug: Follow the Smart Plug's user manual to complete installation. Ensure the plug is connected to the same wireless network as the STREAM system.
To remove a Smart Plug:
- Turn off connected devices and unplug them from the outlet.
- Move or store the Smart Plug as needed.
- Open the EcoFlow App and remove the Smart Plug from the STREAM system if necessary.
Compatible Plug Models:
- EcoFlow x Shelly Smart Plug (up to 6 units)
- EcoFlow Smart Plug (up to 16 units)
You can mix different plug models for up to 22 integrated plugs in one STREAM system. Only one sensor type should be added to a system at a time. Installing Smart Plugs and Smart Meters may lead to redundant data usage or sensor inefficiency, as the system can only operate in one planning mode.
Whole-Home Planning with Smart Meter
A Smart Meter acts as a household sensor, measuring the difference between power drawn from the grid and power fed into it. The STREAM system uses this data to adjust feed-in power based on the total household load, ensuring efficient and balanced energy distribution across all connected STREAM devices.
To install a Smart Meter: Have a qualified electrician install the Smart Meter in your home's distribution box. Ensure it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network and bound to the same EcoFlow account as the STREAM system.
To remove a Smart Meter:
- Contact a qualified electrician to remove the Smart Meter.
- Open the EcoFlow App and remove the Smart Meter from the STREAM system if necessary.
Compatible Meter Models:
- EcoFlow x Shelly Smart Meter
- EcoFlow Smart Meter
- Shelly 3em
- Shelly Pro 3em
- Tibber Pulse IR
Only 1 Smart Meter is required for a STREAM system. Only one sensor should be added to the system at a time. The installation of Smart Plugs and Smart Meters may lead to redundant data usage or sensor inefficiency, as the system can only operate in one planning mode.
