Charging Headphones and Turning on Transmitter

Option 1: Using the Charging Station

Simply place the headphones back on the charging station to charge them. The LED on the front of the charging station lights up red during charging and turns off once charging is complete. Charging typically takes about 3 hours for a full charge.

The charging station has a [DC IN Port] for power.

Option 2: Direct Charging via USB-C

Using a USB-C charging cable and a USB adapter, you can charge the headphones directly via the power port. A solid red light indicates that charging is in progress; once the light turns off, the headphone battery is full.

Setup: Connecting to Your TV

Once the transmitter is connected to a power source, you need to connect it to your TV's audio outputs. You can choose from 4 options:

Option 1: Optical Connection (Recommended)

Plug the included optical audio cable into the TV's [OPTICAL OUT Port] or [OPT/OUT Port], and then the other end into the transmitter's optical input port labeled "INPUT FROM TV". Set the transmitter's "AUDIO INPUT SELECTOR" to the "OPT" position.

Note: Most TVs support audio output through only one digital output at a time. If using the HDMI ARC connection, the optical output may be deactivated. You may need to disconnect the HDMI ARC cable or try connecting via RCA/AUX.

Option 2: HDMI ARC Connection (Recommended)

Plug your HDMI cable (not included) into the TV's [HDMI ARC Port], and then the other end into the transmitter's HDMI ARC port labeled "INPUT FROM TV". Set your transmitter's "AUDIO INPUT SELECTOR" to the "HDMI ARC" position.

Note 1: The HDMI ARC connection only supports TV HDMI ports labeled "ARC".

Note 2: The HDMI cable should be HDMI 1.4 or higher.

Option 3: AUX 3.5mm Connection

Plug the included 3.5mm audio cable into the TV's 3.5mm [AUX Output Port], and then the other end into the transmitter's 3.5mm [AUX Input Port] labeled "INPUT FROM TV". Set your transmitter's "AUDIO INPUT SELECTOR" to the "AUX" position.

Option 4: RCA Connection

Connect the RCA adapter to the AUX 3.5mm audio cable. Plug the red and white RCA connectors into the TV's [AUDIO OUT Ports]. Then, plug the other end into the transmitter's AUX 3.5mm input port labeled "INPUT FROM TV". Set your transmitter's "AUDIO INPUT SELECTOR" to the "AUX" position.

Connecting the Headphones

After successfully setting up your transmitter, the next step is to connect the headphones.

Step 1

First, turn on both the transmitter and the headphones (slide their [Power Switch] to the "TV" position).

Step 2

The transmitter and headphones will connect automatically. Once the connection is established, the [LED Indicators] on the headphones and transmitter will light up solid blue.

Setting up Your TV (Optical & HDMI-Arc Connections Only)

If you connected your TV via the Optical Out, OPT/OUT, or HDMI-ARC port, you need to configure your TV's settings before you can receive audio.

Step 1

On your TV remote, press the SETTINGS button and navigate to the AUDIO tab in the settings menu. (Note: Setting names may vary by TV brand).

Step 2

Go to AUDIO OUTPUT and select "OPTICAL OUT / DIGITAL OUT / HDMI ARC". This is automatic on many TVs; skip this step if applicable.

Step 3

Set the Audio Output Format to "PCM / STEREO" ON or "DOLBY" OFF.

If you have trouble finding these settings, you can visit avantree.com/opera/tv-audio-settings for a more detailed guide.

Note 1: Smart TVs may reset their settings automatically after system updates. If you don't receive sound, ensure your audio output/input format is set to "PCM" and NOT "AUTO" or "Dolby".

Note 2: When using Netflix or Amazon Prime, you may need to start the movie/show before changing the audio settings to "PCM".

Advanced Features

Listening with a Soundbar (Optical and AUX Connection Only)

The Pass-Through function allows you to listen simultaneously through the headphones and an external soundbar / stereo AVR.

Step 1

Set up the transmitter and connect it to your TV.

Step 2

Connect an additional optical, 3.5mm AUX, or RCA audio cable to the corresponding audio output port in the "BYPASS OUTPUT TO SPEAKER" section of the transmitter.

Step 3

Connect the other end to your external sound system, and you're ready to go!

Note: The bypass function only works with the same type of input/output. For example, if you connect your TV via OPT, you must also connect your speaker via OPT.

Adding a Second Pair of Headphones

You can add a second pair of Opera Plus headphones (AS90-K) to your setup while maintaining low latency. Please note that ONLY Opera Plus headphones (AS90-K) are compatible due to proprietary protocol connections.

Adding a Second Pair of Headphones (Continued)

Step 1

Slide the power switch on your transmitter to the "PAIR" position and hold it until the [LED Indicator] blinks red and blue.

Step 2

For your second pair of Opera Plus headphones, slide the power switch to the "TV" position. When using the headphones for the first time, they will automatically enter pairing mode, and the [LED Indicator] will blink red and blue alternately. If not, press and hold the [Play/Pause Button] for 5 seconds to manually activate pairing mode.

Step 3

Hold both devices together and wait for 2 seconds. Once the connection is established, the [LED Indicators] on the headphones and transmitter will light up solid blue.

To purchase a 2nd pair of Opera Plus headphones (AS90-K), please visit avantree.com/products/avantree-as90k-opera-plus-long-range-bluetooth-headphones.

Independent Use of Headphones with a Phone

Step 1

Slide the power switch on your headphones to the "PHONE" position. The first time, pairing mode will activate automatically, and the [LED Indicator] will blink red and blue alternately. If not, press and hold the [Mute Switch] for 5 seconds to manually activate pairing mode.

Step 2

Turn on your phone's Bluetooth and select "Avantree Opera Plus" from the Bluetooth menu.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions during setup.

Can I listen through my TV speakers and wireless headphones simultaneously?

This depends on whether your TV has the capability to transmit audio to two sources at the same time. You can test different approaches to find out if your TV supports this. For more information, see avantree.com/opera-plus/sound.

Why do I have no sound when watching Netflix / Prime Video?

You may need to change your TV's audio settings again when watching Netflix / Prime Video. This could be because the movie is in Dolby Digital Surround Sound format, or because you are watching it with a separate streaming device / cable box. With Netflix / Prime Video open, go to your TV's audio settings and ensure the audio output is set to "PCM / STEREO" and that "DOLBY" is turned off.

Why are my headphones not connecting to the transmitter?
