Product Usage
Before First Use
- Clean the unit before first use (refer to Cleaning and Maintenance section).
- Place the unit on a stable, level, non-slip and heat-resistant surface.
- Position the unit at least 1 meter away from any flammable objects, such as wooden fences or garden furniture, and at least 15 cm away from any walls.
- When you use the barbecue for the first time, it may emit a wisp of smoke and a slight odor. This is completely normal and caused by the unit being heated for the first time.
- We recommend turning on the barbecue 30 minutes before using it for the first time, in order to burn off the heating element's protective film and dissipate any odor or smoke.
Assembly
- Firmly insert a non-slip foot onto a bar. Repeat the operation until the 4 non-slip feet are attached to the bars.
- Insert a bar connector (x4) into each of the holes on the four corners of the tray. Be sure to line up the ribs on the connectors with the grooves in the tray's holes and face the bottom of the connectors outward. A click indicates proper insertion. Once properly inserted, the connectors will protrude from the top of the tray.
- Turn the plastic tray over and secure the feet-mounted bars (x4) to the connectors to form the base of the barbecue. The bars of the base should face outward. Turn the base over and check that it is stable. If it is wobbly, check that the bars, feet and connectors have been inserted correctly.
- Insert the remaining 4 bars into the top of the connectors.
- Place the barbecue frame on the 4 bars. Ensure that the bars are aligned with the slots in the frame. Press down firmly on the corners of the barbecue frame to secure it in place.
- Mount the drip tray to the barbecue frame. Next, place the heating element on top of the drip tray. Check that the thermostat knob-fitted heating element has been securely attached to the barbecue frame.
Note: The heating element is equipped with a safety mechanism that prevents it from generating heat if it has not been correctly placed on the barbecue frame. When the heating element is fitted to the barbecue frame, this safety mechanism is deactivated and the heating element can be turned on via the thermostat button. If the heating element does not turn on, check that it has been correctly installed on the barbecue frame and that the unit is plugged into the mains socket.
Using the Barbecue
This barbecue can be used to cook meats and vegetables outdoors.
⚠️ WARNING: To prevent the risk of electrocution, turn off and unplug the unit from the wall socket before cleaning it. Make sure that the barbecue is clean before each use. Check that the information provided on the barbecue's rating plate matches the mains socket voltage. To avoid burns, do not touch any part of the barbecue while it is heating up, in use or cooling down. Use protective gloves, such as oven mitts, when using the unit. Never use the unit without water in the drip tray. Never move the barbecue when it is hot or the drip tray contains hot water, oil or grease. Allow the unit to cool completely before moving it. Do not use excessive oil or grease when barbecuing food. Using too much oil or grease could cause a fire. If necessary, use a basting brush to apply a thin layer of oil or grease to food. Do not adjust the height of the large grill when it is in use or hot.
- Fill the drip tray with cold water to the maximum level mark.
ℹ️ ATTENTION: When cooking, always fill the drip tray with water, as this reduces the risk of oil or grease catching fire. Never allow the water level to rise above the maximum level mark. Use a jug to add more water, as and when needed. If the drip tray is full, carefully empty the oil or grease that has collected. Wait for the unit to cool completely before emptying it.
- Fully unwind the power cable. Arrange the power cable in such a way as to ensure that it cannot be pulled by children or animals, and does not pose a tripping hazard.
- Plug the power cable into the mains socket.
- Switch on the barbecue and set it to the maximum temperature by turning the thermostat knob until MAX and the triangle symbol are aligned. Preheat the barbecue for 1 minute before starting to cook food. The maximum temperature is 200 °C.
The indicator light will come on when the barbecue is heating up and turn off when the set temperature is reached. During use, the indicator light will cycle on and off as the heating element automatically turns on and off to keep the temperature at the level selected via the thermostat button.
- Turn the thermostat knob anticlockwise to reduce the temperature.
- Remove any excess juice from the food before placing it directly on the grill.
- When the unit is no longer in use, turn the thermostat knob to 0 to switch it off, then unplug it from the mains.
Note: Never place plates, trays or kitchen foil on the large grill. Always use barbecue utensils with long, heat-resistant handles. Do not leave utensils on the grill for long periods of time. Always make sure that the food is thoroughly cooked before eating. If it will take you some time to prepare the next batch of food, unplug the unit until you are ready to use it again, in order to prevent it from overheating. Take special care when cooking food. Oil or grease may splatter when grilling food. Stand a safe distance away from the unit.
Tips:
- Occasionally turn the food to ensure that it cooks evenly.
- Brush meat and vegetables with oil, grease or a marinade to prevent them from drying out during the cooking process and sticking to the grill.
- Preheat the barbecue to help ensure that the food browns quickly whilst being cooked and stays juicy.
- Cooking times may vary, depending on the thickness of the food and temperature.
- When using wooden skewers, always soak them in water for 10 minutes beforehand. This will prevent the skewers from burning during the cooking process.
- A marinade helps add flavour and can also make the meat more tender.
- If you are cooking a large amount of food, cook it in small batches to avoid overloading the grill.
- Use the small grill to keep food warm.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning
⚠️ WARNING: To prevent the risk of electrocution, turn off and unplug the unit from the mains socket before cleaning. Let the unit cool completely before cleaning and storing it away. Under no circumstances should you immerse the thermostat knob-fitted heating element, power cable or plug in water or any other liquid, as these contain electrical components. Do not rinse them under the tap. Never use solvents, chemical or abrasive cleaning products, wire brushes, sharp objects or scouring pads to clean the unit.
Clean the unit before first use and after each use. Remove the grills, heating element and drip tray, then clean them as follows:
Components | Cleaning Method |
---|---|
Heating element with thermostat knob | Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a small amount of washing-up liquid. Dry it thoroughly. |
All other parts | Wash thoroughly. If necessary, soak the grills and drip tray in soapy water to soften any stubborn food residue. Rinse off with clean water. Once clean, dry all parts well. |
Storage
- Always check the unit is unplugged and has cooled completely before putting it away.
- Store the unit in a clean, cool and dry place. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
- Store the unit out of the reach of babies, children and pets.
- Keep the original packaging to store the unit when you are not going to use it for a long period of time.
