Using the 2961 TheftAlert™ Module
Product Overview
The Model 2961 TheftAlert Module provides theft protection for any switching system using RCA jacks per product. It is compatible with Audio Authority switching systems like the 2950 Series and Model 90, and can be used with other brands if they have at least two RCA jacks with a common ground for signal connection (typically right and left audio). It can also protect equipment with unused RCA jacks.
Installation
Mount the 2961 module near the switching module of the products to be protected, ensuring the Reset button ⚙️ is accessible. Connect the four numbered pairs of 2961 RCA cords into the switching system's product input/output jacks, and then plug the product into the corresponding RCA jacks on the 2961. Figures 1 and 2 illustrate the hookup.
Figure 1 Description: Diagram shows a "2952" unit connected to a "CD Player" via the "2961" module. RCA cables run from the "2952" to the "2961", and from the "2961" to the "CD Player", indicating the signal path.
Power the 2961 using DC power from an Audio Authority digital switching system or a power pack (e.g., Audio Authority part number 805-002). If borrowing power from a switching system, connect one end of the short bus cable to the 2961 header labeled "Bus" and the other end to the nearest 2950 System Bus header or a power header on the Model 90.
Figure 2 Description: Diagram illustrates connecting a "920X Model 90" system to a "CD Player" using the "2961" module. RCA cables connect the "920X Model 90" to the "2961", and the "2961" to the "CD Player". A power connection is shown from the "920X Model 90" to the "2961".
The 2961 can be backed up with a non-rechargeable 9-volt alkaline battery ?, plugged into the battery socket. Ensure the 2961 remains powered from the AC wall outlet ? at all times to prevent battery drain. A releasable cable tie is included to prevent tampering with the battery; release it to replace the battery. Each 2961 in a system requires its own backup battery.
System Grouping
Multiple 2961 modules can be grouped into systems powered by a common source by interconnecting them with Audio Authority 802-307 bus cable. In such systems, all sirens ? sound if a loss is detected on any 2961, and a reset at any 2961 or the remote keyswitch ? resets all modules. A remote reset keyswitch (Audio Authority part number KIT40) can be connected to the system bus as shown in Figure 3.
Figure 3 Description: Diagram shows a system with multiple "2961" modules. One "2961" is connected to an "Electronics Product" and a "CD Player". Another "2961" is connected to a "922" system. A bus cable links the "2961" modules. A "Remote Keyswitch" is also shown connected to the system bus.
Operation
The 2961 immediately begins protecting plugged-in products once powered. It sounds a siren ? when any product is disconnected. Keep the 2961 powered from the AC wall outlet ? at all times.
To stop the siren ? when a product loss occurs, press the Reset button ⚙️ or turn on the remote keyswitch ?. In a system with multiple 2961 modules, pressing any Reset button ⚙️ resets all units. To disconnect products for re-merchandising, press and hold the Reset button ⚙️ or turn on the keyswitch ?.
