03 Using the Soundbar Remote Control (Continued)
Adjusting the Soundbar volume with a TV remote control
This feature allows volume control using your TV's IR remote. It requires the TV speaker to be set to "External Speaker". Supported manufacturers include Samsung, VIZIO, LG, Sony, Sharp, PHILIPS, PANASONIC, TOSHIBA, Hisense, and RCA.
Procedure:
- Turn off the Soundbar.
- Press and hold the [WOOFER] button for 5 seconds.
The mode cycles through "OFF-TV REMOTE", "SAMSUNG-TV REMOTE", and "ALL-TV REMOTE".
04 Connecting the Soundbar
Connecting the power and units
Connect the power cords to the Subwoofer, Surround Speakers (optional), and Soundbar to an electrical outlet. The Subwoofer and Surround Speakers connect automatically when the Soundbar is turned on. Ensure the Subwoofer and Surround Speakers are powered on before connecting to the Soundbar. If unplugged and reconnected while on, the Soundbar turns on automatically. Surround speaker system is supported by applicable models only.
Recommended Speaker Layout
Diagram shows optimal placement for soundbar, subwoofer, and surround speakers (L/R) with angles (0°, 135°, 150°). CAUTION: Keep units away from water/moisture. Ensure areas around speakers are clear of obstructions for optimal performance.
Surround speaker mode (HW-Q930C only)
This mode optimizes surround sound based on speaker position. Activate via remote: [Sound Control] → Surround speaker → [Up]/[Down] → Front/Rear. Illustrations show rear and front positioning.
Note: This mode is available for models with specific surround speakers. In Front speaker mode, speakers should face the listener. Surround speaker mode is enabled by default.
Manually connecting the Subwoofer or Surround Speakers
Procedure:
- Turn off the Soundbar.
- Press and hold [ID SET] on the rear of the subwoofer and surround speakers for at least 5 seconds. The red indicator turns off, and the blue indicator blinks.
- Press the [Up] button on the remote control for 5 seconds. The "ID SET" message appears briefly on the display, and the Soundbar powers on automatically upon completion.
- Check if the LINK LED is solid blue, indicating a successful connection.
LED Indicator Lights on the Rear of Subwoofer and Surround Speakers
LED | Status | Description | Resolution |
---|---|---|---|
Blue | On | Subwoofer: Successfully connected (normal operation) | - |
Blinking | Surround Speakers: Recovering the connection | Check power cable connection or wait 5 minutes. Try manual connection if blinking persists. | |
Red | On | Subwoofer: Standby (Soundbar off) | Check power cable connection. |
Connection failed | Connect again. See manual connection instructions. | ||
Red and blue | Blinking | Surround Speakers: Malfunction | Contact Samsung Service Center. |
Note: If the main unit is powered off, the subwoofer enters standby mode (STANDBY LED turns red after blinking blue). Interference from other devices using the same frequency may cause sound interruption. Wireless signal distance is up to 10m but can vary. Obstacles like steel-concrete walls can block the signal. Surround speaker system is model-dependent.
CAUTION: Keep units away from water/moisture. Ensure clear space around speakers for optimal performance.
05 Connecting to a TV
Connecting the TV that supports HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel)
CAUTION: HDMI signal takes priority over optical. Ensure ARC terminals are used. Use a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet.
Connect the HDMI cable from the TV's [HDMI IN (ARC/eARC)] port to the Soundbar's [HDMI TO TV (eARC/ARC)] port. Turn on the TV and Soundbar. "TV ARC" should appear on the display. If no TV sound, select "D.IN" mode using the [Multi Function]/[Source] button. "eARC" appears if the TV supports eARC. Ensure eARC is enabled in TV settings. If "TV ARC" doesn't appear, check cable connection. Use TV remote for volume control.
Note: HDMI ARC/eARC transmits digital video and audio without a separate optical cable. Use a coreless HDMI cable if possible. ARC/eARC supports Dolby Atmos. Ensure content supports Dolby Atmos.
Connecting using an Optical Cable
Pre-connection: Remove terminal covers if present. HDMI signal is prioritized if both cables are connected.
Connect the [OPTICAL OUT] port on the TV to the Soundbar's [DIGITAL AUDIO IN (OPTICAL)] port using an optical cable. Turn on the TV and Soundbar. Select "D.IN" mode using the [Multi Function]/[Source] button. TV sound will play through the Soundbar.
05 Connecting to a TV (Continued)
