Dryer Cycle Guide
This guide provides information on various dryer cycles to help you achieve optimal fabric care and energy savings. It covers sensor cycles, timed cycles, and steam refresh options.
Important Safety Information
WARNING: Fire Hazard
- No washer can completely remove oil.
- Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil on it (including cooking oils).
- Items containing foam, rubber, or plastic must be dried on a clothesline or by using an Air Cycle.
- Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or fire.
WARNING: Explosion Hazard
- Keep flammable materials and vapors, such as gasoline, away from dryer.
- Do not dry anything that has ever had anything flammable on it (even after washing).
- Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, explosion, or fire.
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, read the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, located in your appliance's Owner's Manual, before operating this appliance.
Sensor Cycles
Use Sensor Cycles for better fabric care and energy savings. The dryer senses moisture in the load or air temperature and shuts off when the load reaches the selected dryness level. If settings are changed, the new settings will be remembered. If there is a power failure, settings will return to the default. Not all features and cycles are available on all models. Not all settings and options are available on each cycle.
NOTE: Temperatures shown in bold are the default settings for that cycle. You cannot adjust the time with these cycles.
Items to Dry | Cycle | Temperature | Available Options | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Heavyweight items such as jeans, towels or heavy work clothes. | HEAVY DUTY | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Uses Medium heat as default and longer cycle time to dry large loads of heavy weight, hard to dry items. |
Work clothes, casual wear, mixed cottons, sheets, corduroys. | NORMAL | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Uses Medium heat as default to dry large loads of mixed fabrics and items. |
Shirts, blouses, permanent press, synthetics, lightweight items. | WRINKLE CONTROL | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Uses a Low heat as default for improved moisture removal and enhanced fabric care. |
Undergarments, blouses, lingerie, performance wear. | DELICATES | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Uses Extra Low heat as default to gently dry delicate objects. |
Work clothes, casual wear, mixed cottons, sheets, corduroys. | MORE DRY | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Uses Medium heat as default to dry large loads of Mixed Fabrics and items, with slightly higher temperatures than Normal Cycle and tuned to achieve "More Dry" results. |
Jackets, comforters, pillows. | BULKY ITEMS | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Use for drying large, bulky items; do not overfill dryer drum. Partway through the cycle, the signal will sound to indicate when it is time to rearrange items for optimal drying. |
Work clothes, casual wear, mixed cottons, sheets, corduroys. | LESS DRY | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Uses Medium heat as default to dry loads of Mixed Fabrics and items, with slightly lower temperatures than Normal Cycle and tuned to achieve "Less Dry" results. |
Large loads of jeans, towels and heavyweight items. | TOWELS | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | This is a long cycle with High heat as default. This cycle is not recommended for all fabrics. Use for large loads of heavyweight fabrics. |
The Pet Pro Modifier adds time to the end of cycle to boost hair removal performance. The heating system is turned off during this time to protect clothing from over drying.
Steam Refresh Cycle (on some models)
Steam cycles are designed for use with dry loads to loosen wrinkles, reduce odors, and refresh fabrics. Not all cycles and settings are available on all models. Settings and options shown in bold are default settings for that cycle.
Items to Refresh | Cycle | Temperature | Available Options | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Shirts, blouses and slacks | STEAM REFRESH | High, Medium | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Use to smooth out wrinkles and reduce odors from loads left in the dryer too long. Do not add dryer sheets. |
Timed Cycles
In these cycles, you can specify the drying time. Time options available are 15, 30, 60 and 90 minutes. If settings are changed, the new settings will be remembered (except on Quick Dry). If there is a power failure, settings will return to the default. Not all features and cycles are available on all models. Not all settings and options are available on each cycle.
Items to Dry | Cycle | Temperature | Available Options | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Any Load. | TIMED DRY | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Use to dry items to a damp level for items that do not require an entire drying cycle. Select a drying temperature based on the type of fabrics in your load. If you are unsure of the temperature to select for a load, select the lower setting rather than the higher setting. |
Small loads and sportswear. | QUICK DRY | High, Medium, Low, Extra Low | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | For small loads of 3-4 items. |
Foam, rubber, plastic or heat sensitive fabrics. | AIR ONLY | N/A | Wrinkle Prevent, Mute Cycle Signal, Pet Pro | Uses unheated air to dry heat-sensitive items. |
