INSTALLATION

Connect the scanner to the host using the interface (I/F) cable. Older RS-232 cables can be reused. If external power is needed, connect the AC Adapter. The USB AUX PORT requires a 12V power supply or a USB + POWER 12V port. Standard USB cables (Figure 6) do not support auxiliary scanners.

After power-up, scan known bar codes to verify operation. The scanner should beep and/or flash a good read LED. If not, consult the Troubleshooting section.

Figure 5. Powered by AC Adapter

Illustration shows the scanner powered by an AC adapter connected to a wall outlet.

Figure 6. USB Cable Type A Power Off the Terminal

Illustration shows a USB Type A cable connecting the scanner to a terminal. A note indicates this cable does not support USB peripherals without 12V power.

Wall/Desk Mount

The Wall/Desk Mount accessory allows the scanner to be attached horizontally to a desk or vertically to a wall or VESA mount.

Installation Instructions

  1. Determine the mounting location, considering cable routing.
  2. Securely fasten the Mount using two #8 screws.

Attaching/Detaching the Scanner

Seating the Scanner in the Mount

  1. Guide the scanner diagonally down, seating the L-Bracket tabs into the scanner's slots.
  2. Push the scanner down to snap into place.

Detaching the scanner

  1. Tilt the top of the scanner forward.
  2. Pull up to detach.

Illustration shows the motion for attaching and detaching the scanner from the mount.

Bottom Cover / Tilting Riser

To remove the Bottom Cover, insert a finger into the hole and pull at an angle. The snaps will disengage. Attach the Tilting Riser by snapping it into place.

Figure 12. Attaching the Tilting Riser

Illustration shows how to remove the bottom cover and attach the tilting riser, including coin slots for removal.

Mounting the Riser

The Adjustable Riser can be mounted to a flat surface using two #8 screws.

Figure 14. Tilting Riser Dimensions

Diagram shows dimensions for the tilting riser.

HOW TO SCAN

Bar codes can be presented to or swept past the scanner's window. The scanner can also be programmed to initiate a scan or image capture upon pressing the Camera Button.

Figure 15. Scanning Techniques

Illustrations show sweeping motion and presentation motion for scanning bar codes.

Scanner Button

The Scanner Button performs multiple functions based on press duration:

NOTE: Volume changes made with the Scanner Button are temporary. Permanent changes require programming labels.

Camera Button

The Camera Button enables image capture. Refer to "Camera Button Mode" on page 18 for enabling this feature. Image destination and type can be specified in the PRG.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEMSOLUTION
Scanner does not power onExchange the power supply with a known good one.
No communication with the hostVerify interface type, cable, and connection port. Ensure the cable is securely attached. Consult technical support or host system manual.
Scanner will not read bar codes or reads poorlyEnsure the scan window is clean. Verify bar code quality (sufficient contrast, not wrinkled, smudged, or torn). Scan known-good bar codes of an active symbology.

If problems persist, consult the Product Reference Guide (PRG) or contact Datalogic Customer Support.

ERROR CODES

If an error is detected, the scanner emits a long low tone (3 seconds) and flashes its LED. Press the Scanner button to hear the error code. The scanner may sound a series of beeps and/or flash its LED simultaneously.
