INSTALLATION
Connect the scanner to the host using the interface (I/F) cable. Older RS-232 cables can be reused. If external power is needed, connect the AC Adapter. The USB AUX PORT requires a 12V power supply or a USB + POWER 12V port. Standard USB cables (Figure 6) do not support auxiliary scanners.
After power-up, scan known bar codes to verify operation. The scanner should beep and/or flash a good read LED. If not, consult the Troubleshooting section.

Wall/Desk Mount
The Wall/Desk Mount accessory allows the scanner to be attached horizontally to a desk or vertically to a wall or VESA mount.
Installation Instructions
- Determine the mounting location, considering cable routing.
- Securely fasten the Mount using two #8 screws.

Attaching/Detaching the Scanner
Seating the Scanner in the Mount
- Guide the scanner diagonally down, seating the L-Bracket tabs into the scanner's slots.
- Push the scanner down to snap into place.
Detaching the scanner
- Tilt the top of the scanner forward.
- Pull up to detach.

HOW TO SCAN
Bar codes can be presented to or swept past the scanner's window. The scanner can also be programmed to initiate a scan or image capture upon pressing the Camera Button.
Figure 15. Scanning Techniques
Illustrations show sweeping motion and presentation motion for scanning bar codes.
Scanner Button
The Scanner Button performs multiple functions based on press duration:
- Momentary (scanner asleep): Wakes scanner from Sleep Mode. Can also be awakened by movement or an auxiliary scanner.
- Momentary (scanner awake): Increments speaker volume. Cycles through five volume levels.
- Hold (approx. 2 seconds): Increments tone. Cycles through three tones (high, medium, low).
- 4 Seconds: Enters Scanner Diagnostics Mode (default disabled). Press for 10 seconds or cycle power to exit.
- 10 Seconds: Resets Scanner (for system support personnel only).
NOTE: Volume changes made with the Scanner Button are temporary. Permanent changes require programming labels.
Camera Button
The Camera Button enables image capture. Refer to "Camera Button Mode" on page 18 for enabling this feature. Image destination and type can be specified in the PRG.
LED AND BEEPER INDICATORS
The scanner uses its beeper and green LED to indicate functions and errors. These indications are programmable and may be disabled.
LED INDICATION | INDICATION | COMMENT |
Power-up indication | Constant bright green | Scanner is running power-up tests. |
Good Read Indication | Bright green flash | Bar code has been read and decoded. |
Scanner Ready | Constant dim green | Scanner is ready for operation. |
Sleep Mode | Green LED flashes every 2 seconds | Scanner is in Sleep Mode. Move an object or press the Scanner Button to wake. |
Host Disable | Constant green flash at 1 Hz | Scanner is disabled by a command from the POS terminal. |
Diagnostics | Varies | LED provides diagnostic feedback during SelfTest. See "Error Codes". |
Prog. Mode | Constant green flash at 1 Hz (500 ms on, 500 ms off) | Scanner is in Programming Mode. |
Beeper Indicators
BEEPER | INDICATION | COMMENT |
Power On Beep | Single beep | Indicates scanner is ready for operation (configurable). |
Good Read Indication | Single beep | Indicates a bar code has been read (configurable frequency, duration, volume). |
Diagnostics | Varies | Beeper provides diagnostic feedback during SelfTest. See "Error Codes". |
Programming Mode Indications | Varies | Beeper sounds indicate progress during configuration. |
TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM | SOLUTION |
Scanner does not power on | Exchange the power supply with a known good one. |
No communication with the host | Verify interface type, cable, and connection port. Ensure the cable is securely attached. Consult technical support or host system manual. |
Scanner will not read bar codes or reads poorly | Ensure the scan window is clean. Verify bar code quality (sufficient contrast, not wrinkled, smudged, or torn). Scan known-good bar codes of an active symbology. |
If problems persist, consult the Product Reference Guide (PRG) or contact Datalogic Customer Support.
ERROR CODES
If an error is detected, the scanner emits a long low tone (3 seconds) and flashes its LED. Press the Scanner button to hear the error code. The scanner may sound a series of beeps and/or flash its LED simultaneously.
NUMBER OF LED FLASHES/BEEPS | ERROR | CORRECTIVE ACTION |
1 | Configuration | Contact Helpdesk for assistance. |
2 | Host Interface | |
6 | Main PCB | |
10 | Button Error | |
11 | USB Device | |

PROGRAMMING
After connecting the scanner, scan the appropriate programming bar code from the table below to set the interface type (e.g., RS232, USB). Scan the START/END bar code to enter Programming Mode, then scan the desired interface bar code. Scan START/END again to save changes and exit.
NOTE: Factory default values are indicated with a green star [⭐].
