Version: v1.05en

Packaging List

Front Panel

The front panel features an OLED display showing input channel (e.g., USB, EXT), encoding format (e.g., DSD), sampling rate (e.g., 22.4μ), and volume status (e.g., FIXED). It includes a Power Button, a small gear button for selection switching and menu navigation, a '-' button for volume reduction or menu option adjustment, and a '+' button for volume increase or menu option adjustment.

Power Button: Switches between standby and working states. The X30 can remain in standby mode when the power switch on the rear is turned on.

Display: Shows the current input channel, encoding format, and sampling rate. When entering the menu, it displays menu items.

Volume Display: Shows volume level (-90~00dB) or FIXED for volume pass-through.

'-' Button: Used to attenuate volume or switch options in the menu interface.

Gear Button (small gear): Used for input selection switching (short press), entering/exiting menu (long press), and switching menu items (short press).

'+' Button: Used to increase volume or switch options in the menu interface.

Rear Panel

The rear panel includes various inputs and outputs:
Inputs: Clock input, Coaxial input, USB input, AES input, LAN input, 10MHz IN, Optical input, IIS input, IIS-G input, Trigger in.
Outputs: Right Output (XLR, RCA), Left Output (XLR, RCA).
Other Ports: TF card reader, Update Firmware port.
Power & Voltage: 220V/110V Voltage switching, Fuse, Power switch, Power supply input.

Ensure both voltage switches are set to the same voltage when operating the 220V/110V voltage switch, otherwise, it may damage the internal transformer upon powering on.

Display and Panel Operations

The X30 features a large OLED display for real-time status and function operations.

Input Channel Selection

The X30 supports 7 input channels: COAX, AES, OPT, USB, STREAMER, IIS(G), and IIS(M*). The small gear button cycles through these channels.

Note: The IIS(G) input uses GUSTARD format and cannot be adjusted. The IIS(M*) input is adjustable and can automatically detect PCM and DSD encoding.

Volume Adjustment

The '+' and '-' buttons directly adjust the analog volume attenuation from 00dB to -90dB.

Pressing the '+' button when the volume is at 00dB enters the FIXED output mode (pass-through). The volume display will show 'FIXED'.

When the volume displays 'FIXED', pressing the '-' button first exits FIXED mode and then allows volume adjustment.

Settings Menu

To enter the settings menu, long press the small gear button on the main screen. The menu button cycles through menu items, and the '+' and '-' buttons adjust the selected options. Long press the menu button again to return to the main screen.

Menu Directory Tree:

  1. PCM FILTER (PCM Digital Filter Adjustment): Options: VIVID, GENTLE, COMPOSITE.
  2. DSD FILTER (DSD Digital Filter Adjustment): Options: 47K, 50K, 60K, 70K.
  3. NOS MODE (No Oversampling Filter Mode): Options: DISABLE, ENABLE.

  9. DISPLAY (Screen Brightness Settings): Options: AUTO (automatically reduce brightness), AUTO OFF ALL (automatically turn off the screen), AUTO OFF DISPLAY (automatically turn off the screen display).

Menu Functions Explained

1. PCM FILTER (PCM Digital Filter Adjustment)

The X30 features a self-developed DSP PCM digital filter with 3 types:

2. DSD FILTER (DSD Digital Filter Adjustment)

The DSD filter has 4 built-in bandwidth options: 47K, 50K, 60K, 70K.

3. NOS MODE (No Oversampling Filter Mode)

When enabled, the PCM signal bypasses the oversampling filter and goes directly to the ES9039SPRO. The internal PCM oversampling digital filter is also turned off.

Note: When enabled, there may be a slight clicking sound when the playback data format switches between PCM and DSD.

4. REF CLOCK (Reference Clock Selection)

Utilizes the GUSTARD-K2 low-noise clock synthesizer for ultra-low jitter performance. Options are INTERNAL (using the built-in OCXO) or EXT. 10Mhz (selecting an external 10M reference source). It is recommended to connect to a GUSTARD C16 or C18 reference 10M master.

When using the external clock (EXT. 10Mhz), the main screen will display 'EXT' when locked. If the external clock is lost or has a frequency deviation greater than +-150ppm, 'EXT ERR' will be displayed and flash.

5. IIS MODE (IIS Pinout Mode Selection)

The X30 has 2 IIS inputs:

The pinout for IIS(G) (GUSTARD MODE) and other modes (MODE1-MODE4) are described below. MODE1 is compatible with GUSTARD front ends like U12, U16, U18, S16, S26.

6. PHASE (Phase Setting)

This function has two options:

7. TRIGGER CH. (Linkage trigger start channel selection)

The X30 can be triggered by an external 12V linkage signal to turn on from standby mode. When working, it switches to the input channel set here by the 12V trigger signal. If the trigger signal stops or drops to 0V, it enters standby.

Options: LAST (input channel used before standby), COAX, AES, OPT, USB, STREAMER, IIS(G), IIS. When the 12V trigger signal is received, it will enter the selected channel and turn on the X30.

8. TRIGGER VOL. (Link Trigger Boot Volume Selection)

Sets the output volume when the X30 is triggered on. Options include:

9. DISPLAY (Screen Brightness Settings)

Options for screen brightness management:

Long-term high-brightness use of OLED screens can cause burn-in or ghosting, hence these features are designed to prolong screen life.

Infrared Remote Control

The remote control has the following buttons:
① Standby: Switches between standby and working states.
② MENU: Enters the menu.
③ Pad with 4 direction keys: In the main screen, Up/Down keys switch input channels. In the menu, Up/Down selects options, Left/Right changes values.
④ Back: Returns to the main screen.
⑤ Vol-: Decreases the volume.
⑥ Vol+: Increases the volume.
Control Modes: DAC, AMP, STREAM. Long press any of these buttons for 5 seconds to switch modes. The DAC mode controls decoder products (e.g., X18, R26, A26). The AMP mode controls amplifiers (e.g., H16, P26). The STREAM mode controls player products.

Notes: Pay attention to distance and angle. Obstacles may affect performance. Remove the battery if the remote is not used for over a month. Clean battery contacts if leaks occur. The remote may not work properly with other devices.

Operation Introduction of Streamer

After connecting the X30's RJ45 port to your LAN, select the Streamer channel and wait for the system to boot up (approximately one minute, until the screen displays DSD 24.5Mhz).

In a browser on a PC, MAC, tablet, or iPhone on the local area network, enter: http://x30.local

This will open the settings page for the X30 bridge. You can turn off infrequently used streaming protocols through the web page to maximize system music playback performance. Online upgrades for the Streamer are also managed via the web page. Alternatively, operations can be performed through the dedicated Streamer APP once launched.
