1 Parts and Controls

The scale features the following components:

• 1. Display
• 2. Conductors (sensors)
• 3. Battery Compartment (located at the rear)
• 4. Reset Button (located at the rear)
• 5. Bluetooth® Pairing Icon
• 6. User Initials (displayed if a user is recognized)
• 7. Body weight display
• 8. Other Measurement Data (e.g., BMI, Body Fat Percentage)

2 Battery Installation

1. Remove the Battery Compartment Cover and insert three AAA-size alkaline batteries (included), ensuring correct polarity.
2. Replace the Battery Compartment Cover.
3. Replace batteries when the display shows “Lo”.

3 Positioning the Scale

Place the scale on a hard, flat surface. Avoid placing it on carpets or rugs.

4 Downloading and Using the App

The scale offers full functionality with the 'beurer HealthCoach' app. System requirements: iOS ≥ 10.0 / Android™ ≥ 5.0, Bluetooth® ≥ 4.0.

1. Download and install the free 'beurer HealthCoach' app from the Apple App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play (for Android™ devices).
2. Activate Bluetooth® in your smartphone's settings.
3. Start the app and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Enter your personal user data (date of birth, height, gender). Refer to the instruction manual for detailed information.
5. Select the BF 70 model within the app.
6. To enable automatic user recognition, allocate a user and perform a reference measurement. Add a new user by entering their initials and activity level. Step onto the scale with bare feet to complete the reference measurement as guided by the app.

5 Measuring Weight, Body Fat, Body Water, Muscle Percentage, Bone Mass, BMI, Basal Metabolic Rate, and Active Metabolic Rate

Ensure your user data is entered in the ‘beurer HealthCoach’ app for accurate measurements.

1. Step onto the scale with bare feet. Stand still with your weight evenly distributed across both sensors. Ensure your feet, legs, calves, or thighs do not touch each other.
2. The scale will first display your weight. If you are barefoot, BIA* diagnostics will follow.
3. If a user is allocated in the app, their user ID will be displayed in the bottom left corner (e.g., “TOM”).

The following values may appear:

• 1. Weight (e.g., in lb) with BMI
• 2. Body fat percentage (BF in %)
• 3. Body water percentage (in %)
• 4. Muscle percentage (in %)
• 5. Bone mass (e.g., in lb)
• 6. Basal metabolic rate (BMR in kcal)
• 7. Active metabolic rate (AMR in kcal)

Refer to the instruction manual for guidance on interpreting your results.

The scale automatically assigns a measurement to the user whose most recently saved weight is within 2kg (4lb) and 2% of their body fat. If the user is not recognized, only the weight is shown, and “---” appears on the LCD display. In such cases, you can assign the unknown measurement in the app or repeat the user assignment process. Refer to the instruction manual for detailed instructions.

* BIA: Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, a method that calculates body composition using a harmless, unnoticeable electric current.

6 Measuring Weight Only

This mode allows measurement while wearing shoes or socks.

1. Step onto the scale wearing shoes or socks.
2. Stand still with your weight distributed equally on both feet.
3. Your weight will be displayed after a few seconds. If a stored user is recognized, their initials and corresponding BMI, BMR, and AMR will also be displayed.
4. The scale will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity.
