1. Device Description
The body analysis scale BF 520 has the following components:
- 1. Display
- 2. Conductors
- 3. "Down" key (⬇️)
- 4. "SET" key ([SET button])
- 5. "UP" key (⬆️)
- 6. Body fat %
- 7. Muscle percentage
- 8. Body Mass Index
- 9. Body water %
- 10. Bone mass
- 11. Active metabolic rate
- 12. Weight
- 13. Memory position
The scale display shows various information. Example displays include:
Display Example 1: Shows the scale's control buttons: "Down" key (⬇️), "SET" key ([SET button]), and "UP" key (⬆️). It also indicates measurement units like kilograms (kg), centimeters (CM), and feet/inches (ft:in), along with a memory position (e.g., P1) and age. Example readings for body composition are shown: Body Fat (6-88.8% BF), Muscle percentage (7-88.8%), Body Mass Index (8-88.8 BMI), Body water % (9-88.8%), Bone mass (10-88.8), and Active metabolic rate (11-0000 KCAL).
Display Example 2: Shows a weight measurement of 64.7 kg. Other indicators present in the diagram include 21.0-P2, 1867, and 97.

2. Battery Installation
- If present, remove the battery insulating strip or remove the battery's protective film and insert the batteries according to the polarity.
- Replace battery cover.
- Replace batteries when "[Low battery indicator]" is displayed.
3. Setting Measurement Unit
You can switch between measurement units like "pounds" ([pounds]), "stone" ([stone/pounds]), and "kilograms" ([kilograms]) by switching on the scale and immediately pressing the ⬇️ or ⬆️ button.
4. Measuring Weight Only
- Stand on the scale without moving and distribute your weight evenly on both legs. The scale immediately begins to measure your weight. After flashing, the weight is established.
- The scale switches off a few seconds after you step down.
5. Setting User Data
Your personal parameters must be stored in order to measure body fat and other physical data.
- Switch on your scale (tap the weighing area) and wait until "[Zero display]" (0.0) is displayed.
- Then press "[SET button]". Now the first memory preset flashes in the display.
- Select the desired preset by pressing the "⬆️" or "⬇️" buttons and confirm the desired preset with the "[SET button]".
- The following steps will allow you to select your desired settings with the "⬆️" or "⬇️" buttons and confirm with "[SET button]":
- Memory position
- Height in [centimeters] or inches
- [Age] in years
- Gender setting for "Woman" or "Man"
- Activity mode
The scale is ready for measuring.
6. Measuring Weight, Body Fat, Body Water, Muscle Percentage, Bone Mass, BMI, and Active Metabolic Rate
Your personal parameters must be stored (see no. 5 Setting User Data).
- Switch on your scale and press "[SET button]".
- Select the memory preset where your basic personal data is stored by pressing the "⬆️" or "⬇️" button repeatedly. The data is displayed consecutively until "[Zero display]" (0.0) appears.
- Step onto the scale barefoot and make sure you're standing on both conductors.
- First your body weight is calculated and displayed.
- Remain on the scale and avoid moving; your body fat is being analyzed. This may take a few seconds.
The following data will be displayed:
- Body fat %
- Muscle %
- Body Mass Index
- Body water %
- Bone mass
- Active metabolic rate
The scale also displays the control buttons: ⬇️ ("Down" key), [SET button] ("SET" key), ⬆️ ("UP" key).
