Bose Unveils New SoundLink Plus and SoundLink Micro (2nd Gen) Portable Speakers

Experience an Unforgettable Summer with the All-New Bose SoundLink Plus Portable Speaker

A new pocket-sized speaker, the SoundLink Micro, is also announced, more powerful than ever.

Paris, June 12, 2025 – Today, Bose announced a new addition to its acclaimed SoundLink Bluetooth® speaker range: the Bose SoundLink Plus portable speaker. Featuring rich sound and a rugged, all-weather exterior, the new SoundLink Plus is large enough to make bass vibrate, yet remains portable enough to accompany you on all your adventures. Slip it into a backpack or beach bag and get ready to liven up any group outing.

Available for pre-order today on the Bose.fr website, the new SoundLink Plus speaker will be available starting June 26th for €249 in black, blue, or the new limited edition citron yellow, a vibrant color to brighten up all your summer evenings.

Bose also unveiled a second-generation model of its popular Bose SoundLink Micro Bluetooth speaker. Its size is deceptive; despite its small size, the new generation Bose SoundLink Micro speaker is the ideal musical companion, combining surprising power with a pocket-sized format. The SoundLink Micro Bluetooth speaker (2nd generation) will be available in black and blue for €119, with a release date later this summer.

A New Blend of Performance and Portability

The SoundLink Plus speaker is here to deliver incredible sound and elevate the atmosphere. It features a new acoustic architecture with a subwoofer, a tweeter, and four passive radiators that, together, deliver high-end sound and roaring bass, all within a new portable enclosure. Weighing under two kilograms and measuring 231 mm wide, 99 mm high, and 86 mm deep, the SoundLink Plus is one of Bose's most versatile speakers, offering both extreme performance and true portability.

Ready for shocks, drops, and bumps, the SoundLink Plus speaker is also rust-resistant and, with its IP67 rating, waterproof and dustproof. Its powder-coated steel grille with a soft-touch silicone and durable casing allows it to withstand the heaviest downpours without compromising on aesthetics. The speaker can also float, and with its sturdy nylon carrying strap on the side, you can easily take it out of the water, carry it with you, and hang it wherever you want.

The new SoundLink Plus speaker offers up to 20 hours of listening time and can also serve as a power bank: its USB-C port can charge your phone and other devices. To ensure the fun never stops.

An Improved Essential

The new SoundLink Micro speaker features improved sound performance and refined features, all in a sleek, pocket-sized design. Despite its compact size (103 mm wide, 103 mm high, and 39 mm deep), it delivers clear and powerful sound, without compromising on bass. Thanks to its unique speaker and two passive radiators, it offers power rarely seen in a speaker of this size. Designed with durability in mind, as evidenced by its IP67 rating, the SoundLink Micro speaker (2nd generation) will accompany you on all your adventures with its powder-coated steel grille and solid silicone exterior. Plus, with its all-new removable nylon strap, it's even easier to attach it to a bag, golf cart, bicycle, shower head, carabiner, or even your clothes. Other improvements include USB-C charging, up to 12 hours of battery life, and compatibility with the Bose app.

Four Speakers, One Platform

The integration of the Plus and the new generation Micro speaker into the SoundLink family completes the range of Bluetooth speakers, offering a wide array of options combining sound performance and portability. While each speaker meets a different need, only two speakers from the SoundLink collection (including the Micro [2nd gen.], Flex [2nd gen.], Plus, and Max) can be paired to multiply the sound. Stereo mode allows one speaker to be used as the left channel and the other as the right channel (both speakers must be the same model). Party mode allows two speakers to play in sync.

Bose App, Connectivity, and Codec Support

As with the SoundLink Max and Flex (2nd gen.) speakers, the Bose app is an essential tool for controlling and personalizing the new SoundLink Plus and Micro speakers. Through it, software updates are automatically downloaded and installed, keeping the speakers constantly up-to-date. The app also provides access to additional features, such as equalizer settings, shortcut button programming for other uses (Spotify Tap, for example), and connecting the speaker to compatible Bose soundbars and smart speakers using Bose SimpleSync technology.

Both speakers work with Bluetooth® Core 5.4 for multipoint connectivity with two source devices up to 9 meters away. The speakers also feature Google Fast Pair for even faster pairing with Android devices.

To offer the best sound quality, a stable connection, and minimal latency for audio streaming, both speakers support Low Complexity Sub-Band Coding (SBC) and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) encoding standards, ensuring compatibility with almost all Bluetooth streaming devices. For high-definition audio, both speakers use Qualcomm's aptX Adaptive codec, automatically adapting to the lossless audio quality of Snapdragon Sound certified devices on Android.
