Any Liquid

Improvements in the sensing technology in the FD-H Series make it possible to detect the majority of liquids. From DI water to high viscosity liquids, the FD-H Series can provide consistently stable detection from outside of the pipe or hose.

  • Water
  • DI Water
  • Chemicals
  • Coolants
  • Oils
  • High Viscosity Liquids

Any Condition

Bubbles in the liquid flow have long been a problem for clamp-on flow sensors, but not anymore. The new hybrid detection method, utilized by the FD-H Series, makes it possible to continue detecting in the presence of bubbles or particulates to provide unmatched stability.

A diagram illustrates the ultrasonic pulse reflection principle, showing transmitted and received signals affected by bubbles and particles.

Nearly Any Temperature

Even under extreme circumstances where the pipe temperature is exceedingly hot, the FD-H Series can still provide a solution. The High Temperature models offer excellent heat resistance and can be exposed to pipe temperatures of up to 180°C (357°F).

Unmatched Features

The FD-H Series is packed with features designed for user convenience and robust performance.

  • Detachable Display: View all the pertinent data and make adjustments with ease by separating the display from the sensing head. Accessibility is no longer limited by sensor placement.
  • Rotatable Display: Allows for flexible viewing angles.
  • Highly Visible Indicators: Clear visual cues for status.
  • All-In-One Display: No manuals necessary with clear menus and even clearer displays. From easy to read graphs to historical data, the FD-H provides display options for any user. One year of data is stored and can be output via USB.

Complete Process Monitoring

Extend Beyond Flow Sensing to Understand the Full System

The FD-H Series does not stop at simply monitoring flow; it can also integrate with up to two other devices (e.g., temperature, concentration, level sensors) to provide a complete picture of your machine's performance. This helps optimize equipment usage and prevent costly downtime.

Examples of Complete Process Monitoring:

  • Heat transfer control for molds [Flow Rate + Temperature]
  • Monitoring of mold release agent [Flow Rate + Level]
  • Quality control during quenching [Flow Rate + Concentration]
  • Coolant reservoir monitoring/filling [Flow Rate + Concentration + Level]

FD-H Series Detection Principles

The FD-H Series employs advanced ultrasonic technology for accurate flow measurement.

Delta TOF [Time of Flight Method]

This method determines flow rate by monitoring two ultrasonic signals (one moving with the flow, one against) and measuring the time difference. This provides consistent and stable readings regardless of external factors like temperature changes.

Pulse Doppler

This method works effectively in the presence of bubbles or particulates by transmitting and receiving a pulse. The difference in frequency of the returned pulse correlates to the liquid's speed and thus the flow rate.

Hybrid Detection Principle

The sensor automatically switches between Delta TOF and Pulse Doppler detection methods based on the amount of bubbles present, ensuring seamless transition and no delays in detection.

Measurement Accuracy

The FD-H Series is equipped with a proprietary algorithm that achieves a measuring accuracy of ±3.0% of RD (reading value). It is also resistant to environmental changes and provides stable detection.

Various Detection Modes to Suit Any Application

The FD-H Series offers flexible detection modes and I/O configurations.

  • Instantaneous Flow Mode: Detects if instantaneous flow has decreased below a set threshold.
  • Area Mode: Detects if instantaneous flow is outside an acceptable upper or lower range.
  • Bubble Detection Mode: Detects bubbles within the pipe and provides a one-shot output.
  • Analog Output: Provides a 4-20 mA or 0-20 mA signal representing the flow rate.

Mix and Match IO to Fit Your Needs: The four I/O channels (Ch1-Ch4) can be configured for control outputs, analog outputs, or external inputs, allowing customization for various applications.
