Care
Seat and Backrest
The seat and backrest are made of textilene, which is weatherproof and UV-resistant. Clean as necessary using warm water and a mild detergent, then wipe dry with a dry cloth. Never use pointed or abrasive products (e.g., wire sponges) or pressure cleaners, as these could damage the material.
Solid Wood Parts
The frame and armrests are made from acacia wood, known for its natural durability. The wood has been treated with oil to protect it from the elements and increase its resistance to cracking due to drying out.
To keep the product looking its best, we recommend the following:
- Do not use abrasive or caustic cleaning agents or hard brushes. Clean surfaces with a slightly damp cloth and wipe dry.
- Acacia wood contains natural color pigments that may wash out with moisture (e.g., rain) during the initial period of use. Rinse the product several times with clean water over a non-staining surface before setup to avoid marking the surface (e.g., patio slabs).
- Re-oil the wood at regular intervals for protection. Choose a well-ventilated area and protect the ground from dripping oil (e.g., with thick cardboard).
Re-oiling Procedure:
- Clean the product with a brush and mild soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry completely. Caution: Do not use pressure cleaning machines, as this will damage the wood's texture.
- If necessary, lightly sand the wooden surface with fine sandpaper (grain 180) to help the oil absorb better. For larger surfaces, wear a dust mask and wipe off the sanded dust with a slightly damp cloth.
- Treat the wood with an oil suitable for acacia wood. Ensure the oil's color pigmentation matches the wood's color. Apply the oil generously with a brush, spreading it quickly and evenly. A cloth can also be used.
- After approximately 15-25 minutes, wipe off any excess oil that has not been absorbed with a clean cloth. This prevents stubborn, sticky oil patches and streaks.
For a more intensive treatment, you can oil the wood three to four times. Allow each layer of oil to set for at least 24 hours before applying more to ensure the wood is also well-protected in deeper layers. If necessary, sand the surface again with very fine sandpaper (grain 220) before applying the next layer of oil.
5. Then leave the product to dry for at least 48 hours in a place protected from the elements before using it again.
WARNING - Risk of Fire!
Never leave oil-soaked cloths crumpled up to dry, as they may self-ignite. Immediately after use, spread the cloth out and hang it on a clothesline with pegs to dry.
Wood is a natural product and may vary in color and grain. Fine cracks may appear after long periods of hot, dry weather. These do not impair the product's quality or function.
Setting up the Chair
Unfold the chair entirely. Hold the seat with one hand and press the backrest back with the other until the armrests click into position. Place the chair on a level, solid surface.
Adjusting the Seating Position
Sit upright on the chair. Pull both armrests upwards and shift the backrest to the desired position. When you have found the right position, press the armrests down. Make sure that they snap into place properly.
Folding up the Chair
Hold the seat with one hand and the backrest with the other. Slightly tilt the chair onto its back legs, then slowly push the seat and the backrest together, as illustrated. Take care not to get your fingers caught!
