1 Safety Notes
Please read this manual carefully and completely before using the device for the first time. The device may only be used by qualified personnel and repaired by PCE Instruments personnel. Damage or injuries caused by non-observance of the manual are excluded from liability and warranty.
- The device must only be used as described in this instruction manual. Incorrect usage can cause dangerous situations and damage to the meter.
- The instrument may only be used under environmental conditions (temperature, relative humidity, etc.) within the stated technical specifications. Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, extreme humidity, or moisture.
- Do not expose the device to shocks or strong vibrations.
- The case should only be opened by qualified PCE Instruments personnel.
- Never use the instrument with wet hands.
- Do not make any technical changes to the device.
- Clean the appliance only with a damp cloth. Use only pH-neutral cleaner, no abrasives or solvents.
- Use only accessories from PCE Instruments or equivalent.
- Before each use, inspect the case for visible damage. Do not use the device if damage is visible.
- Do not use the instrument in explosive atmospheres.
- The measurement range stated in the specifications must not be exceeded under any circumstances.
- Non-observance of these safety notes can cause damage to the device and injuries to the user.
- Switch off the device when not in use.
- Do not exhaust the maximum measurement range.
- Do not use the meter if it is no longer working properly.
- Do not use the meter in wet or damp environments.

4 Device Description
The PCE-SLM 10 Sound Level Meter features the following components:
- 1. Wall mounting brackets: For securing the device to a wall.
- 2. PC connection and power supply: Micro USB port for data transfer and power.
- 3. Alarm LED: Visual indicator for alarm events.
- 4. Microphone sensor: Captures sound for measurement.
- 5. Display: Shows measurement values and status information.
- 6. 1/4 inch connection for tripod mountings: Allows attachment to a tripod.
- 7. 3.5 mm speaker connection: For audio output (e.g., alarm sound).
- 8. Adjusting screw: For fine adjustments.
- 9. Keys: Control buttons for operation.

5 Switching the Meter On and Off
To turn on the meter, press the ⏻ [On/Off/Back] key. The meter turns on immediately and starts measuring after two seconds. When you connect the power supply, the meter also turns on automatically. To turn off the meter, press and hold the ⏻ [On/Off/Back] key for two seconds.
6 Alarm Function
After the alarm has been triggered, it must be cancelled. It remains active until it is manually cancelled by the operator using the ⏇ [Alarm/Menu] key or is automatically cancelled after the set time. After cancellation, the measurement will continue after 2 seconds.
Note: During this time, the display is frozen, and no measurement is made. The frozen reading is logged every two seconds.
6.1 Switch Alarm Function On and Off
To switch the alarm function on or off, press and release the ⏇ [Alarm/Menu] key once. The alarm LED above the ⏇ [Alarm/Menu] key indicates whether the alarm function is active.
7 Data Storage
The sound measurement display logs the highest measured sound value every two seconds. When the memory is full, the first half of the memory is automatically deleted and replaced by current measured values. It is advisable to read out the memory on the PC at regular intervals. The memory is sufficient for 657,000 measured values.
8 Menu
The menu allows you to make settings for the alarm function, date, and time. To enter the menu, press and hold the ⏇ [Alarm/Menu] key for approximately 2 seconds. To select an individual menu item, press the ⏷ [Down] or ⏏ [Up] keys repeatedly. You can change a value with the arrow keys. To accept a value, press the ⏻ [On/Off/Back] key again. To exit the menu, press the ⏻ [On/Off/Back] key.

After setting the second, you automatically leave the menu and return to measuring mode.
9 Software
The sound software allows you to download and analyze stored data. A live view is also possible with the software.
- [Start Live Measurement Icon]: Start a live measurement. A new window will open in the software.
- [Download Data Icon]: Download the stored measurement data from the noise meter. A new window will open in the software.
- [Open File Icon]: Open a measurement series saved to the PC.
- [Convert to XLS Icon]: Convert a measurement series into the file format XLS and save it to the PC.
- [Print Icon]: Print the measurement series. The graph is not printed.
- [Settings Icon]: Make settings for the software.
- [Information Icon]: Find more information about the software.
- [Close Program Icon]: Close the program.
9.1 Window: Live Measurement
The live measurement window displays real-time sound level data and provides graphical analysis. It includes controls for managing the measurement and viewing data.

9.2 Window: Data Readout
