Sennheiser ASP 2 Antenna Splitter 1:4
Instructions for use
Brief Description
The Sennheiser ASP 2 is a passive RF antenna splitter designed for routing antenna signals to multiple receivers in a multi-channel system. It allows up to four diversity receivers to be supplied with signals from only two antennas. The unit incorporates DC distribution for powering up to four receivers and two antenna boosters using a single mains unit. Linking two ASP 2 units enables an 8-channel system to operate with just two antennas. The optional GA 2 rack adapter allows two ASP 2 units or one ASP 2 and a rack-mount receiver (e.g., EM 100 G2, EM 300 G2, or EM 500 G2) to be mounted in a 19" rack.
Areas of Application:
- Small to medium RF installations (fixed or mobile)
- Permanent installations in small theaters, conference centers, and similar venues
Delivery Includes:
- 1 ASP 2 antenna splitter
- 1 set of plastic feet
- Instructions for use
Safety Instructions
Caution! Never open the unit. Opening the unit voids the warranty.
Attention! Ensure air vents are not covered or blocked. Keep the unit away from central heating radiators and electric heaters. ⚠️
Caution! Set up the unit on an even surface or mount it into a rack. Lay cables to prevent tripping hazards. ⚠️
Attention! Keep liquids and small, conductive parts away from the unit. Clean with a slightly damp cloth only. Do not use solvents or cleansing agents. ⚡
Operating Controls
The Sennheiser ASP 2 features the following controls and connections:
- 1: DC input (DC IN) for mains unit
- 2: Cable grip for power supply DC cable
- 3: Four DC outputs (DC OUT) for powering up to four receivers
- 4: Antenna input B (IN B, DC-FEED 12 V), BNC socket
- 5: Four antenna outputs (OUT B), B leg
- 6: Four antenna outputs (OUT A), A leg
- 7: RF output A (link to antenna input B 4 to make a 1-to-8 splitter), BNC socket
- 8: Antenna input A (IN A, DC-FEED 12 V), BNC socket
Diagram Description: A line drawing shows the rear panel of the ASP 2 unit with labeled BNC connectors for antenna inputs and outputs, DC input, and DC outputs. Cables are shown connected to the outputs.
Putting the Unit into Operation
The following connection diagram illustrates the setup for a 4-channel diversity system.
Diagram Description: A block diagram shows two antennas (ANT A, ANT B) connected to the ASP 2 unit. The ASP 2 unit splits the signals to four receivers via DC OUT and OUT A/OUT B connections. DC IN is shown for power.
Setting up the Unit
The unit can be used as a table-top device or mounted into a rack.
- For 19" rack mounting, use the GA 2 rack adapter (optional accessory).
- For table-top use, attach the included plastic feet to the base of the unit.
Note: Some furniture surfaces may be treated with finishes that could cause staining upon contact with the unit's synthetics. Despite thorough testing, Sennheiser cannot rule out the possibility of staining.
Connecting the Antennas
You can connect the following antenna types to the antenna inputs 4 and 8:
- Two A 1031-U or A 2003-U passive antennas
- Two A 12 active antennas
- A combination of a passive antenna (A 1031-U or A 2003-U) and an antenna booster (AB 2)
Diagram Description: A diagram shows the ASP 2 unit with cables connecting to antennas labeled ANT A and ANT B.
Connecting the Receivers
Up to four rack-mount receivers (e.g., EM 100 G2, EM 300 G2, or EM 500 G2) can be connected to the ASP 2. The splitter provides DC distribution for powering the receivers.
- Pass the cables from the antenna splitter's DC outputs through the cable grips on the rear of the receivers.
- Insert the hollow jack plugs into the receiver sockets.
- Connect the BNC cables from the antenna splitter's outputs to the receivers:
- Antenna outputs (OUT A) 6 to antenna inputs (ANT I) 12
- Antenna outputs (OUT B) 5 to antenna inputs (ANT II) 11
Note: It is recommended to protect unused RF outputs with a 50 Ω terminator to maintain specified distribution attenuation.
Diagram Description: A diagram shows the ASP 2 unit connected to an EM 500 G2 receiver. Cables are shown connecting antenna outputs to receiver antenna inputs, and DC power is supplied.
Connecting the Mains Unit
The NT 1 mains unit can power up to four receivers and provide DC power to two optional antenna boosters via the antenna inputs.
- Pass the power supply cable through the cable grip 2.
- Insert the DC connector of the power supply cable into the DC input 1.
Note: The antenna splitter does not have a power switch.

If Problems Occur...
Error Checklist
Problem | Possible Cause | Possible Solution |
---|---|---|
Receivers cannot be switched on | Receivers are not powered | Check the connections of the mains unit or the DC connections. |
Disturbed reception or no reception | Transmitting antennas are not within the range of the receiving antennas | Reduce the distance between transmitter and receiving antennas. |
Transmitters or receivers are not switched on | Switch the transmitters or receivers on. | |
Antennas are not connected correctly | Check the antenna connections. | |
Connecting cables are defective | Replace the connecting cables. | |
Too high cable attenuation due to too long antenna cables or wrong type of antenna cable | Only use the recommended antenna cables (see "Accessories" on page 21) or use shorter antenna cables. | |
Transmitters and receivers are not on the same frequency | See operating manual of the transmitter or receiver. |
If problems occur that are not listed above or cannot be solved with the proposed solutions, contact your local Sennheiser agent for assistance.
