Image Description: Diagrams illustrating the components of the Vitamix Immersion Blender. One diagram shows the top of the motor body with controls and the power cord. Another shows the motor body attached to the blending shaft. A close-up shows the blade assembly at the bottom of the shaft.

Use

  1. Remove packaging materials.
  2. Carefully wash the blending wand in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

NOTE: Ensure no water remains inside the blending shaft to avoid water running into the motor body when reattached.

NOTE: The immersion blender is not dishwasher safe.

  3. Make sure the immersion blender motor is unplugged.
  4. Attach the handle and wand by lining up the channels and making a one quarter turn counter-clockwise until you hear the unit click into place.

WARNING!: Use caution when blending in a glass container, pots, and pans. Remove pot/pan from heat before blending.

  5. Place food to be processed into a sufficiently large mixing bowl, container, cup or saucepan.

Note: The container should only be half full or less when blending liquids or when making a puree of fruit and/or vegetables.

WARNING! TO AVOID DAMAGE AND INJURY: DO NOT use an immersion blender in a Vitamix blending container with a blade assembly.

  6. Plug the power cord into a power outlet.
  7. Lower the blending shaft into the container with ingredients. Make sure the bell and blade assembly are completely submerged in the ingredients. Submerge the shaft to a maximum 2/3rd it's length. Never submerge the motor body in ingredients.

NOTE: When you begin to blend, especially with hot ingredients, always start on low speed and gradually increase the speed to avoid splattering and over-processing. Use a tall container or make small quantities reduce spillage or splash. DO NOT use the immersion blender for more than four minutes continuously.

  8. To start blending, press and hold the On/Off button.

NOTE: More bars will light up and the speed will increase as the Variable Speed button is pressed. Pressing the variable speed button again when all 5 speed bars are lit shall revert to lowest speed. Pressing and holding the variable speed button for more than one second will allow the speed to be increased continuously.

    • One bar = low speed.
    • Five bars = high speed.
  9. Slowly move the immersion blender around in the ingredients to ensure the best blend.
  10. To stop, release the On/Off button. Allow the blades to come to a complete stop before removing immersion blender from the blending container.

OVERLOAD/OVERHEAT indication: 4 speed bars will blink. Allow the immersion blender to cool down for a few minutes before using again. Inspect the blade assembly for looseness or damage. DO NOT use an immersion blender with a damaged blade assembly. Contact Vitamix Customer Service immediately for instructions.

LOCKED ROTOR: In case the blades get jammed against a hard ingredient such as an ice cube of a frozen piece of fruit, the blender will automatically try to increase power and break free. If this does not happen, the motor will stop and all speed bars will start flashing. Follow these instructions:

  1. Release the power button.
  2. Remove the plug from the wall.
  3. Use a spatula to carefully remove any anything stuck around the blades.

Care

WARNING: BLADES ARE EXTREMELY SHARP. Handle with extreme care to avoid injury.

WARNING: TO AVOID DAMAGE AND INJURY. DO NOT IMMERSE the motor body and cord assembly in water or any other liquid.

  1. Remove the blending shaft from the motor body. Wash it in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  2. Wipe down the motor body with cloth moistened with warm, soapy water. Wipe with a clean towel to remove soap residue. Wipe dry with a clean towel.

NOTE: Ensure no water remains inside the blending shaft to avoid water running into the motor body when reattached.

NOTE: The immersion blender is not dishwasher safe.

NOTE: DO NOT allow the blending wand to soak in water for long periods of time.
