UniFi Dream Machine Special Edition (UDM SE) Installation Guide

Installation and Setup

1. Unpack the UDM SE

   Identify the UniFi Dream Machine Special Edition (UDM SE) unit.

2. Connect Power and Initial Network Cable

   Connect the provided power adapter to the UDM SE and plug it into a power outlet. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the UDM SE and the other end to your modem.

3. Connect to Internet Source

   Ensure the WAN port on the UDM SE is connected to your internet modem via an Ethernet cable.

4. Connect Local Devices

   Utilize the available LAN Ethernet ports on the UDM SE to connect your local network devices, such as computers or switches.

5. Attach Mounting Hardware

   Securely attach the included feet for placement on a flat surface or use the provided brackets for rack mounting.

6. Position the Device

   Place the UDM SE on a stable, level surface or install it within a network rack, ensuring adequate clearance for ventilation.

7. Power On the UDM SE

   Once connections are secure, power on the UDM SE. The device will initiate its startup sequence.

8. Monitor Status LED

   Observe the LED indicator on the front panel of the UDM SE. Its color and pattern indicate the current operational status.

9. Access Configuration Interface

   Using a computer or mobile device connected to the network, navigate to the UniFi Network application or web interface to begin configuration.

10. Identify High-Speed Ports

    Note the presence of dedicated 10 Gbps (10G) and 2.5 Gbps (2.5G) Ethernet ports for high-performance network connectivity.

11. Follow On-Screen Setup Wizard

    The UniFi Network application will guide you through the initial setup process. Follow the on-screen prompts to configure your network.

12. Ensure Optimal Placement and Ventilation

    Verify that the UDM SE has sufficient airflow around it for optimal thermal management and performance. Consider placement for best network coverage.

13. Verify Connections and Reset Option

    Double-check all power and Ethernet cable connections. A reset button ⚙️ is available for factory resets if required.

14. Confirm Internet Connectivity

    Ensure the connection from your modem to the UDM SE's WAN port is stable and correctly established.

15. Download Mobile Management App

    For convenient management on the go, download the UniFi Network application from the Apple App Store ? or Google Play Store ▶️.
