2. Product Overview and Specifications

Wi-Tek PoE Extenders are designed to extend the reach of Power over Ethernet (PoE) networks. Below are the specifications and features for the covered models.

WI-PE31E / WI-PE31G

Ports:

  • 1 x 100Mbps PoE+ Input [PoE In]
  • 2 x 100Mbps PoE+ Output [PoE Out]
  • 1 x DC Input [DC In] (37-57V)

DIP Switch:

  • Extend: [On] - Extends PoE output port transmission up to 250m at 10Mbps; [Off] - Standard transmission up to 100m at 100Mbps.

LED Indicators:

  • PWR [Power]: [On] - Normal operation; [Off] - No power or failure.
  • Link: [On] - Port link established; [Blinking] - Data activity (TX/RX); [Off] - Link down.
  • PoE: [On] - PoE power is active; [Off] - PoE power is inactive.

WI-PE51E / WI-PE51G

Ports:

  • WI-PE51E: 1 x 10/100Mbps 802.3bt PoE Input [PoE In], 4 x 100/1000Mbps PoE+ Output [PoE Out].
  • WI-PE51G: 1 x 1000Mbps PoE+ Input [PoE In], 2 x 1000Mbps PoE+ Output [PoE Out].
  • 1 x DC Input [DC In] (37-57V)

DIP Switch (WI-PE51E):

  • V [VLAN]: [On] - Enables VLAN mode; [Off] - Disables VLAN mode.
  • E [Extend]: [On] - Enables extended transmission up to 250m (10Mbps); [Off] - Standard transmission up to 100m (100Mbps).

LED Indicators (WI-PE51E):

  • P: [On] - Device powered on; [Off] - Device powered off or failed.
  • Link: [On] - Port link established; [Blinking] - Data activity (TX/RX); [Off] - Link down.
  • PoE: [On] - PoE power is active; [Off] - PoE power is inactive.

WI-PE21E / WI-PE21G

DIP Switch (WI-PE21E/G):

  • V [VLAN]: [On] - Enables VLAN mode; [Off] - Disables VLAN mode.
  • E [Extend]: [On] - Enables extended transmission up to 250m (10Mbps); [Off] - Standard transmission up to 100m (100Mbps).

LED Indicators (WI-PE21E/G):

  • Speed: [On] - Negotiated speed is 1000Mbps; [Off] - Negotiated speed is 10/100Mbps.

3. Installation

Desktop Installation

  1. Connect the first PoE extender to a PoE-enabled port on a switch (802.3af/at/bt compatible) or power it using a DC adapter.
  2. Connect the second PoE extender to the first extender's PoE input port.
  3. Connect an IP camera or other PoE device to the second extender's PoE output port.

Recommendation: For optimal performance and stability, limit the chain to a maximum of three PoE extenders.

Wall-mount Installation

This mounting option is available for models WI-PE31E, WI-PE31G, WI-PE21E, and WI-PE21G.

4. Network Application Example

Networking Solution Illustration:

This section describes a typical network deployment using Wi-Tek PoE Extenders to increase the range of PoE-powered devices, such as IP cameras, beyond the standard 100-meter Ethernet cable limit.

Diagram Description:

The diagram illustrates a network chain: A PoE Switch (compliant with 802.3af/at/bt standards) provides both data and power to the first PoE Extender via a standard 100-meter Ethernet cable. This first extender then transmits data and power to a second PoE Extender, also over a 100-meter cable. The second extender, in turn, powers and connects an IP camera. The system allows for extended reach; by configuring the DIP switch to 'Extend' mode, the transmission distance for PoE output ports can be increased up to 250 meters, albeit at a reduced speed of 10Mbps.

To claim warranty service, customers must present proof of purchase and the product's serial number. The limited warranty does not cover damages resulting from natural disasters, water ingress, extreme environmental conditions, or physical tampering (e.g., damaged stickers).
