Foxwell QUICK START GUIDE
OBDII / EOBD Code Reader
OBDII / EOBD Code Reader
This Foxwell Code Reader is designed for analyzing engine issues on OBDII compliant vehicles, including both petrol & diesel. It is suitable for both DIY and professional use. This code reader can read/clear OBDII codes and turn off the check engine light. It also displays a range of live data and freeze frame data on a 2.4" TFT color screen, along with hot keys for an I/M readiness test. This code reader comes with lifetime free updates.
Please note that this code reader will only work on OBDII compliant vehicles. Refer to your vehicle manual or use the provided QR code (not included in this HTML) to reference the list of Australian OBDII compliant vehicles. For pre-OBDII vehicles, a scan tool such as the ET2530 is required.

How to Use This Code Reader
Before starting diagnosis, please ensure:
- The ignition switch is turned to the ON position.
- The vehicle's engine is off.
- The vehicle battery voltage is between 10-14 volts.
- The scanner is correctly connected to the vehicle.
Important: Do not connect or disconnect the code reader while the ignition is on or the engine is running.
Connecting the Device:
Locate the OBDII interface port on your vehicle (typically under the dashboard). Insert the OBDII Cable connector from the Foxwell reader into this port. The OBDII Connector has 16 pins with specific functions, including power, ground, and communication lines like CAN, ISO 9141-2, and SAE J1850.
Navigating and Reading Codes:
- Turn on the ignition of your car.
- In the main menu, select and press ENTER for "OBDII/EOBD". The code reader will start scanning.
- Wait several seconds. You may be prompted to choose "yes/no" using the right arrow key, then press ENTER to enter the Diagnostic Menu.
- Choose "Read Codes" to view diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Pending Codes require confirmation after several driving cycles.
- Select "Live Data" to view and graph selected live data, which helps in locating faulty sensors.
- Select "View Freeze Frame" to see a snapshot of critical vehicle operating conditions recorded by the on-board computer at the time a DTC was recorded. This data can also help identify faulty sensors.
- Access "I/M Readiness" to check the vehicle's emissions readiness status.
Note: Functions like O2 Monitor Test, On-Board Monitor Test, and Component Test are vehicle-dependent and may not be available on all vehicles.
