Getting Started
- Before first use: Remove all adhesive remains and gently rub the iron with a dampened cloth. Rinse the water tank to remove foreign particles. Temporary vapours/odours may occur on first use.
- Filling the steam iron with water: Ensure the plug is removed from the power outlet. Turn the steam selector to "OFF" and open the filling aperture cover. Pour water up to the maximum level using the provided beaker. Raise the tip of the iron to prevent overflow while pouring. Close the cover. Use tap water; distilled water or a 50% distilled/50% tap water mix is recommended. Never use only distilled water. Do not add scented water, vinegar, or ironing aids to the water tank, as this may cause brown spitting and staining.
- Plug in the power cable: Plug into a power outlet. Turn the temperature selector to the desired heat. The power indicator light shows the iron is heating up. When the light turns off, the iron is ready. Note: If you lower the temperature during ironing, do not start again until the power indicator light turns on.
- Iron with steam: Turn the steam selector to a position between "OFF" and "low steam" (depending on steam required). Leave on "OFF" for no steam. Note: The iron gives continuous steam if held horizontally. Stop continuous steam by placing the iron vertically or turning the steam selector to "OFF".
- Using the spray mist and steam jet function: Ensure the water tank is at least 1/4 full. Press the spray button several times to release a fine mist to pre-dampen fabrics. For the steam jet function, ensure the tank is at least 1/2 full. Press the steam jet button several times to prime the pump.
- Steaming hanging items: The vertical steam jet function is ideal for steaming curtains, suits, and delicate fabrics. Hang the item on a hanger, hold the iron at a distance of 10-20 cm, and press the steam jet button.
- Storage: Switch off the appliance before connecting or disconnecting the mains plug. Never pull the supply cord; grasp the plug and pull. Empty the water tank and let the iron cool completely before storage.
Cleaning (Do Not Use Any Detergent)
- Always store the iron on its heel rest with the cord loosely wrapped around the cable wrap facility. To clean exterior surfaces, use a damp soft cloth and wipe dry. Do not use chemical solvents, as they will damage the surface.
- Self-cleaning function: Hold the iron over a sink. Fill the filling aperture with water. Heat up the iron. Move the steam button to the self-cleaning position, hold for 60 seconds to empty water from the steam holes. Release the button to stop the self-cleaning function.
- Cleaning the soleplate: Do not use scouring pads or harsh cleaners on the soleplate, as these will damage the surface. To remove burnt residue, iron over a damp cloth while the iron is still hot. To clean the soleplate, simply wipe with a soft damp cloth and wipe dry.
SafeTouch Hot Soleplate Indicator*
Your appliance is equipped with a SafeTouch hot soleplate indicator which detects when the soleplate is hot by changing its colour from black to red. Once the soleplate temperature is below 40°C, the colour changes back to black, indicating the iron is ready to be stored away.
*Specifications vary by model.

Varied ironing speed and fabric dampness might cause optimal setting to differ from that recommended in the table!
Tips and Tricks
Temperature settings
The iron heats up faster than it cools down, so we recommend starting with fabrics requiring the lowest temperature. Use the lowest temperature for fabrics with unusual finishes like sequins or embroidery. If unsure about the fabric, start with a low temperature on a hidden corner, then gradually increase if needed.
Avoiding marks on the fabric
Never iron areas with traces of perspiration or other marks, as heat fixes stains.
Washing fabrics before ironing
Overloading the washing machine or high spin cycles can cause more creases. However, many fabrics are easier to iron when damp.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
Soleplate not heating even though iron is on. | Connection problem. Temperature selector on "min". | Check power cable, plug, and outlet. Select adequate temperature. |
Iron does not produce steam. | Not enough water in tank. Steam selector set to non-steam position. Selected temperature lower than required for steam. | Fill water tank (see "Getting Started", no. 2). Set steam selector to "low steam" or "medium steam". Increase temperature to at least "medium temperature". |
Spray function does not work. | Not enough water in tank. | Fill water tank (see "Getting Started", no. 2). |
Steam jet and vertical steam jet functions do not work. | Steam jet function used very frequently in a short period. Iron not hot enough. | Place iron horizontally and wait before using steam jet. Adjust temperature to steam ironing (up to "medium temperature"), place iron vertically until indicator light turns off. |
Brown streaks come out of soleplate and stain linen. | Hard water caused scale buildup in tank. Chemical descaling agents used. | Use self-clean function one or more times. Do not use descaling agents. |
Fabric fibres accumulate in soleplate holes and burn. | Fibres accumulated. | Use self-clean function one or more times. Clean soleplate with a damp soft cloth. |
Garments not properly rinsed or are new and unwashed. | Garments not properly rinsed or are new. | Rinse laundry properly again. |
Water leakage | Soleplate not hot enough. Too much water in tank. Water left in tank from previous use. Impurities buildup in steam chamber. | Turn Steam Selector to desired steam position after heating. Ensure water level does not exceed "max". Ensure tank is empty after each use. Perform self-cleaning regularly to minimize impurity buildup. |
