Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a Mitsubishi CITY MULTI system. To use your CITY MULTI system correctly and safely, please read this instruction book before use. After reading, keep it and the installation manual in a place where the final user can see them at any time. When the end user changes, forward this book and the instruction manual to the new final user. Do not attempt to install or move this system yourself, as safety and functions cannot be ensured.
This document is an instruction book for the Mitsubishi Electric PAR-F27MEA Remote Controller.
1 Safety Precautions
The following symbols are used to denote dangers that may be caused by incorrect use and their degree:
[WARNING] This symbol denotes what could lead to serious injury or death if you misuse the Controller.
[CAUTION] This symbol denotes what could lead to personal injury or damage to your property if you misuse the Controller.
WARNING Precautions
- Ask your dealer or technical representative to install the unit. Any deficiency caused by your own installation may result in an electric shock or fire.
- Securely install the controller in a place which can withstand its weight. If not, the controller may drop and cause injury.
- Make sure that the controller is connected to a rated power supply. Using an incorrect power supply may cause a fire or damage to the controller.
- Stop the operation immediately if any malfunction occurs (e.g., burning smell). Turn off the power supply and contact your dealer or technical representative. Continued operation after a malfunction may cause damage, electric shock, or fire.
- Do not move or re-install the controller yourself. Any deficiency caused by improper installation may result in electric shock or fire. Consult your distributor or a special vendor for moving and installation.
- To dispose of this product, consult your dealer.
- Never modify or repair the controller yourself. Any deficiency caused by modification or repair may result in electric shock or fire. Consult your dealer for repairs.
- Stop the operation immediately and notify your dealer if an error code is displayed or a malfunction occurs. Operating the controller in this condition may cause fire or damage.
CAUTION Precautions
- Do not install in any place exposed to flammable gas leakage. Accumulated flammable gases may cause an explosion.
- Do not wash with water. This may cause an electric shock or malfunction.
- Do not touch any control button with wet hands. This may cause an electric shock or malfunction.
- Do not use the controller for special applications. This product is designed for the CITY MULTI CONTROL SYSTEM. Using it for other air conditioning management operations or applications may cause malfunctions.
- Do not apply insecticide or flammable sprays to the controller. Do not place flammable sprays near the controller, and ensure they do not blow directly onto it, as this may cause fire.
- Do not clean the unit using benzene, thinner, or other chemicals. This may cause discoloration or other damage. If the unit becomes particularly dirty, apply a mild cleaner diluted with water to a soft cloth and wipe the unit clean. Be sure to wipe away any residual moisture with a dry cloth.
- Do not use in any special environment. Using the controller in places exposed to oil (including machine oil), steam, or sulfuric gas may significantly deteriorate performance or damage component parts.
- Do not press any control button using a sharp object. This may cause an electric shock or malfunction.
- Operate the controller within the specified temperature range. Using the controller outside this range may cause serious damage. Refer to the operation manual for the specified temperature range.
- Do not pull or twist the transmission line. This may cause fire or malfunction.
- Do not dismantle the unit. Touching the internal circuit board is dangerous and may cause fire or malfunction.

- 1 day timer mode: Allows setting ON and OFF timers (10-minute units) once within a 24-hour period. Options include ON timer only, OFF timer only, or ON/OFF timer.
- Daily timer mode: Similar to the 1 day timer mode, but timer operations can be set for the same time each day.
- Auto off timer mode: Allows setting the OFF timer in 30-minute units (30 minutes to 4 hours). When the remaining time reaches 0:00, the air conditioner stops. This mode is useful for automatically turning off the unit if forgotten.
NOTE: Timer operation may not be executed if restricted by a central controller. If ON/OFF operation was restricted during AUTO OFF timer operation, the remaining time is memorized and the unit stops after that memorized time from the restriction removal.
4 Other Displays and Flashing Indicators
The remote controller uses various displays and flashing indicators to communicate status and potential issues.
"CENTRALLY CONTROLLED" Display
Displayed when operation is controlled by a central controller. Restricted operations include ON/OFF (including timer operation), operation mode, and set temperature. These restrictions may also be individual.
"Operation mode" Flashing
When flashing continuously: Displayed when another indoor unit connected to the outdoor unit is already operating in a different mode. Ensure the operation mode matches that of the other indoor unit.
When mode switched after display flashes: Displayed when operation mode is restricted for each season by a central controller, etc. Use another operation mode.
"FILTER" Flashing
Indicates that the filter needs cleaning. Clean the filter.
When resetting "FILTER" display: Press the
button twice successively after cleaning the filter. The display will go off and reset.NOTES: The filter cleaning period may differ based on the type of indoor unit. "FILTER" is displayed when the master unit's cleaning period arrives. The cumulative time resets when the display goes off. The "FILTER" indicator shows the cleaning period based on general indoor air conditions; clean the filter more frequently if environmental conditions are harsh. The cumulative time differs by model.
"ERROR CODE" Flashing
When both the "ON" lamp and "ERROR CODE" flash: A trouble has occurred in the air conditioner, and it stops operation. Note down the unit number and error code, turn off the air conditioner power, and consult your dealer.
When only "ERROR CODE" flashes (ON lamp remains steady): The air conditioner continues to operate, but there is a possibility of trouble. Note down the error code and consult your dealer.
5 How to Select Remote Controller Functions
In the remote controller function selection mode, three functions can be selected and changed.
1) Operation mode display selection mode (Automatic mode cool/heat display selection)
When AUTO operation mode is set, the indoor unit determines cooling or heating automatically. The display shows "AUTO" "COOL" or "AUTO" "HEAT". "AUTO" can also be displayed alone.
OPERATION MODE DISPLAY SELECTION MODE (When you want to change the AUTO mode display): This setting is unavailable if the controller is connected to an air conditioner without AUTO mode. "AUTO" "COOL/HEAT" flashes, and "ON" or "OFF" lights. Pressing the
button switches between "ON" and "OFF" display.- When "ON" is selected: "AUTO" "COOL" or "AUTO" "HEAT" is displayed during AUTO mode operation.
- When "OFF" is selected: Only "AUTO" is displayed during AUTO mode operation.
2) Room temperature display selection mode (Room temperature display/no display selection)
Normally, the intake temperature is displayed. This setting allows disabling the display.
ROOM TEMPERATURE DISPLAY SELECTION MODE (When you want to change room temperature display/no display): "88 °C" flashes at the room temperature display, and "ON" or "OFF" lights. Pressing the
button switches between "ON" and "OFF" display.- When "ON" is selected: The room temperature is continuously displayed.
- When "OFF" is selected: The room temperature is not displayed.
To exit function selection mode, press the
and buttons simultaneously for two seconds.6 Specifications
