Rexing F9 Car DVR Highlights

This car DVR records at 1080p full HD resolution automatically when the car is turned on and turns off automatically when the car turns off. It features a loop recording function that overwrites the oldest files when the card is full. It includes a built-in microphone for recording audio and video, unless the microphone is disabled. The buttons have backlighting, making them easy to operate at night. The device can also be used as a mass storage disk or a PC camera (webcam) when connected to a computer.

Rexing F9 Features and Description

Feature/Function Description
1. ON/OFF Button Hold for 3 seconds to turn on/off. Quick press when on turns IR LED light on/off.
2. REC Start/stop recording. Acts as confirm/OK in Menu/settings. In photo mode, takes a photo.
3. Menu Button Short press for menu settings (Resolution, date/time, format). Long press (3s) turns off LCD screen.
4. UP/Emergency Lock Button While recording, press 3s for emergency lock (key icon). In settings/playback, acts as UP.
5. Down/MIC Button While recording, press to mute/unmute audio. In menu settings, acts as DOWN. In standby, press 3s to hide/show icons.
6. Photo/Mode Button Toggles between Video, Camera, and Playback Modes.
7. mini HDMI Port Connect to TV for high-definition video playback.
8. MicroSD(TF) Slot Insert microSD card (up to 32GB).
9. AV-OUT Port Connect to devices with AV-Input for TV viewing (AV cable optional).
10. USB Interface Charge or connect to PC for file transfer.
11. GPS Interface Optional for GPS tracking.
12. Mount Interface Attach suction cup mount.
13. Reset Insert paper clip/stylus to reset and restart the device.
14. Microphone Records and plays sound.

Note: HDMI cable, AV-OUT cable, and GPS module are optional and not included.

Installing and Operating the Rexing F9 Car DVR Dashcam

  1. Find a clean area on the windshield and affix the suction mount. Be careful not to obstruct the driver's view. The best place is around the rear-view mirror.
  2. Place the suction mount into the dashcam's mount insert.
  3. Slide the dashcam to the left to lock it onto the mount.
  4. Once mounted, rotate the mount to adjust the viewing angle.

Battery

This Car DVR has an internal, lithium-ion rechargeable battery, but it does not have enough charge to use for extended video recording. It is recommended to plug in the car charger at all times to ensure continuous recording and avoid missing any incidents.

Charging the Battery

Connect the device to your car's cigarette lighter jack using the included car charger.

Replace the Battery

The battery can only be replaced by Rexing Inc.

Insert MicroSD Card or TF Card

Load the Micro SD/TF card to start recording video or taking still images. A minimum capacity of 4GB is recommended, up to a maximum of 32GB. MicroSDHC is compatible and recommended.

Power On/Off

When the Car DVR is off, press the power switch once to turn it on; a welcome message will be displayed. When connected to the car's cigarette lighter port, the DVR automatically turns on and starts recording when the engine is on, and turns off when the engine is off. When the DVR is on, a quick press of the power button turns the IR LED light on/off, and a long press turns the device off, displaying a goodbye message.

Camera

The CAR DVR can capture both still photos and videos. Press the Mode button to switch between modes.

Rexing F9 Menu Settings

Date/Time

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up]/Event and [Down]/MIC buttons to scroll to the Date/Time function, then select [Date/Time] by pressing the [OK]/REC button.
  3. To adjust the Year, use the [Up] and [Down] buttons, then press [OK] to confirm.
  4. To adjust the Month, use the [Up] and [Down] buttons, then press [OK] to confirm.
  5. To adjust the Day, use the [Up] and [Down] buttons, then press [OK] to confirm.
  6. To adjust the Hour, use the [Up] and [Down] buttons, then press [OK] to confirm.
  7. To adjust the Minute, use the [Up] and [Down] buttons, then press [OK] to confirm.
  8. To adjust the Second, use the [Up] and [Down] buttons, then press [OK] to confirm.
  9. To select the display format (e.g., DD/MM/YY, MM/DD/YY), use the [Up] and [Down] buttons, then press [OK] to confirm.

Beep Sound

You can disable the beep sound the CAR DVR makes:

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll to the Beep Sounds function.
  3. Select [Beep Sound] by pressing [OK].
  4. Select [On] or [Off].
  5. Press [OK] to confirm.

Language

Choose your preferred language:

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll to the Language function.
  3. Select [Language] by pressing [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Press [OK] to confirm.

TV Mode

Select the TV broadcast standard (NTSC or PAL) for your local TV output:

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll to the TV Mode function.
  3. Select [TV Mode] by pressing [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Press [OK] to confirm.

Frequency

Set the frequency according to your local power supply (50Hz or 60Hz):

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll to the Frequency function.
  3. Select [Frequency] by pressing [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Press [OK] to confirm.

Screen Saver

Set the CAR DVR's screen display to automatically shut off after a set time:

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll to the Screen Saver function.
  3. Select [Screen Saver] by pressing [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Press [OK] to confirm.

Delayed Shutdown

This option sets how long the Car DVR records after power is disconnected:

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll to the Delayed Shutdown option.
  3. Select by pressing [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Press [OK] to confirm.

Default Setting

This option resets the device to factory settings:

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll to the Default Setting function.
  3. Select [Default setting] by pressing [REC].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [OK] or [Cancel].
  5. Press [OK] to confirm your selection.

Format

This is a shortcut to delete all video and photo files on your SD card:

  1. Press the [M] button twice.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll to the Format function.
  3. Select [Format] by pressing [OK].
  4. Press [OK] again when prompted for [SD Card].
  5. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [OK] or [Cancel] when the 'All data will be deleted' message appears.
  6. Press [OK] again to confirm your selection.

Note: You will not be able to recover your video or photo once you format the TF card.

Take a Video

Enter Video Mode: Video mode is the default when you turn the car DVR on.

  1. Press the [MODE] button until the video icon ? is displayed on the left side of the screen.
  2. Press the [OK] button to start recording. A red dot will blink on the display.
  3. Press the [OK] button again to stop recording.

Note: The camera will go to standby video mode on battery power. Press REC to record.

Emergency File Lock

This function allows you to lock your file on the microSD card immediately, preventing it from being overwritten by new files. While the dashcam is recording:

  1. Press and hold the event triangle button ⚠️ for a few seconds.
  2. A locked key icon ? will be shown on your screen.

Mute/Unmute Microphone

During Recording:

  1. Hold the [MIC] button for 2 seconds to mute. A red line will appear over the microphone icon ?.
  2. Hold the [MIC] button for 2 seconds again to unmute.

Video Settings

Resolution

For the best recording results, set the resolution to 1080FHD:

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Select [Resolution] by clicking on [OK].
  3. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [1080p].
  4. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Loop Recording

This process continuously records, overwriting the oldest video with new footage when the card is full. It is highly recommended to set this to a minimum of 3 minutes.

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Select [Loop Recording] by clicking on [OK].
  3. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [1080FHD].
  4. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Note: Loop recording is a very useful function when the TF card's memory space is full, allowing continuous recording by overwriting old videos.

WDR (Wide Dynamic Range)

This feature provides clear images even under backlighting, balancing very bright and very dark areas simultaneously. WDR corrects for intense backlight, enhancing the ability to distinguish features and shapes.

Exposure

Exposure is the amount of light allowed to fall on each area unit of a photographic medium during image capture:

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for the Exposure function.
  3. Select [Exposure] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Motion Detection

This function allows your CAR DVR to act as a surveillance camera with motion detection. It uses the built-in camera and an advanced algorithm to detect movements in the surrounding area. The camera will automatically record if it detects any movement:

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for the Motion Detection function.
  3. Select [Motion Detection] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Record Audio

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for the Record Audio function.
  3. Select [Record Audio] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Date Stamp

You can add date/time stamps to your pictures. Note that the date/time stamp is not removable once applied.

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for the Date Stamp function.
  3. Select [Date Stamp] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [ON].
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

G-Sensor

This function acts as an accelerometer, measuring acceleration and gravity forces. If significant forces are detected during recording, the device will automatically lock the file. Setting it to [High] is strongly recommended.

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for the G-sensor function.
  3. Select [G-sensor] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [High].
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Take a Photo

Enter Camera Mode

  1. Press the [MODE] button until the camera icon ? is displayed on the left side of the screen.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to zoom in or out.
  3. Click on the [OK]/REC button to take a still image.

Photo Settings

Capture Mode

Choose between a single shot or a self-timer function with time frames of 2, 5, or 10 seconds:

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Select [Capture Mode] by clicking on [OK].
  3. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  4. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Resolution

There are four photo resolutions: 12M, 10M, 8M, and 5M. For best results, ensure the CAR DVR and subject are stationary.

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for Resolution function.
  3. Select [Resolution] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Resolution Guidelines:

Sequence (Take multiple shots)

  1. In camera mode, click the [M] button.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for Sequence function.
  3. Click on [OK] to confirm selection.
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [On].
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Note: Once selected, sequence shots of 3 images will be taken when you click [OK]. To turn this off, select [Off].

Quality

There are 3 types of photo quality: Fine, Normal, and Economy. For best results, ensure the CAR DVR and subject are stationary.

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for Quality function.
  3. Select [Quality] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Quality Guidelines:

Sharpness

There are 3 types of sharpness: Strong, Normal, and Soft:

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for Sharpness function.
  3. Select [Sharpness] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preference.
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Other Settings

Quick Review

This allows a preview of your photo. You can set the timer from 2 to 5 seconds:

  1. Click on [M].
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for Quick Review function.
  3. Select [Quick Review] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [Off], [2seconds], or [5seconds].
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm.

Video Playback Mode

  1. Press the [MODE] button until the blue triangle icon ▶️ is displayed on the left side of the screen. You can scroll through files (UP/Down), delete, or protect a file.
  2. Press the [MIC] button to enter file playback mode. The blue triangle icon will change to a video file icon.
  3. Once the video file icon is displayed, press the bottom right Mode button again to play.
  4. Use the [Up] button to rewind and the [Down] button to fast forward the video file.
  5. Press and hold the Mode button for a few seconds to return to video record mode.

Delete Files

In playback mode:

  1. Click the [M] menu button.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for the Delete function.
  3. Select [Delete] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [Delete Current] or [Delete All].
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm your choice.
  6. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [Cancel] or [OK].
  7. Click on [OK] to confirm your choice.

Protect (File Lock)

In playback mode:

  1. Click the [M] menu button.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for the Protect function.
  3. Select [Protect] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select [Lock Current], [Unlock Current], [Lock All], or [Unlock All].
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm your choice.

Slide Show

In playback mode:

  1. Click the [M] menu button.
  2. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to scroll for the Slide Show function.
  3. Select [Slide Show] by clicking on [OK].
  4. Use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to select your preferred interval: [2 Seconds], [5 Seconds], or [8 Seconds].
  5. Click on [OK] to confirm your choice.

PC Mode

When this car DVR is connected to a PC, the following options are available:

  1. Mass Storage: Use this option to copy files.
  2. PC Camera: Use this option to use this car DVR with your webcam programs.
  3. Video Record: This option goes to standby mode. Press REC to record video.

General Troubleshooting Information

Problem Possible Reasons Solution
The captured image is not stored 1. MicroSD card might be full.
2. Image is not saved before the power outage.
Make sure to stop recording before shutting down.
All buttons are invalid or don't respond Procedural error or faulty operation. Press RESET button to restart the DVR.
Device doesn't turn on Device might be low on battery. Charge the Battery or connect to charger.
Screen Auto power-off 1. Screen Saver function is enabled.
2. Low Battery.
1. Click on [M] twice to the setup page and change [Screen Saver] to off.
2. Charge the battery.
Unable to take pictures or record videos MicroSD card might be full. Check your MicroSD card's memory space. Delete files if required.
Auto stop recording in video mode Use a compatible SDHC microSD card for HD video recording. Test if the microSD card is good. Format the microSD card. Get a microSD card of Class 10 speed.
"File error" when trying to playback pictures or videos MicroSD card might be corrupted. There are bad sectors in the card. Reformat the microSD card. Test and replace the card if it's bad.
No image is displayed on a high-definition TV screen 1. Cable plug might not be plugged in properly.
2. Wrong TV Input mode.
1. Ensure AV/HDMI cable is plugged into the TV properly.
2. Refer to the back panel of your TV to track the correct TV input. Make sure you have selected the correct input.
Hazy Images Lens might be dirty. Check if there are fingerprints or dust on the lens. Clean it with a micro fiber cloth if necessary.
LED light cannot be turned on Device might be low in battery. LED light will not be on when power is insufficient. Charge the Battery.
There are horizontal stripes interference on the image This could be due to wrong light frequency setting. Please set according to the local power supply respectively; 50Hz or 60Hz. For SG/MY: 50hz.
