Setup and Preparation

Remote Control Battery Installation

Diagram A illustrates the installation of four AAA batteries into the remote control. Unscrew the battery cover from the back of the controller, install 4 fresh "AAA" alkaline batteries, and replace the cover. Power on the controller to confirm battery installation.

Charging the FLEX 2.0™ Li-Poly Battery

Diagram B shows the Li-Poly battery being inserted into the charger. Diagram C illustrates connecting the USB end of the cable to a computer's USB port or a USB wall charger. Connect the battery to the charging cable; the red LED indicator will light off during charging and turn on when charging is complete. Average charging time is approximately 130-140 minutes with a 5.0V 2A USB wall charger. A fully charged battery provides 8-10 minutes of flight time. Additional batteries and chargers are available at www.amaxbrands.com.

IMPORTANT: ALWAYS REMEMBER TO UNPLUG YOUR CHARGING CORD WHEN NOT IN USE!

Install the Aircraft Battery

Diagram D shows the battery compartment on the drone. Insert the battery into the compartment and lock both ends with the battery locks.

Expand and Fold Your FLEX 2.0™

Diagram D2 illustrates how to expand the foldable arms of the drone. Before flying, turn the drone over (bottom side facing you) and carefully pull and expand all 4 arms until they are fully in position. After flying, it is recommended to fold all 4 arms back in. Be gentle when expanding or folding the arms.

FLEX 2.0™ Diagram

The FLEX 2.0™ diagram shows the drone with its camera at the front, a power button underneath, and four propellers labeled Propeller A and Propeller B.

Controller Diagram

The controller diagram labels the following controls: Throttle/Yaw, Speed Setting Button, Emergency Stop, 360° Stunt Rolls Button, Direction Control, buttons for taking photos and videos, Banking Trim controls, Throttle Trim, Moving Forward/Backward Trim, and the AUTO Start/Land button.

Flight Preparation

  • Verify that 4 "AAA" batteries are installed in the remote control and the FLEX 2.0™ battery is fully charged.
  • Ensure you are in a large open space, preferably a field or park with at least 60.96 m (200 ft) radius.
  • Start your drone on a clean, flat, level surface before takeoff.
  • IMPORTANT: Until experienced, avoid flying in windy conditions. Choose days with zero or extremely light wind for learning.

Syncing Your FLEX 2.0™

Important: When syncing, ensure the drone is on a flat level surface and digital trim settings are centered. Ensure the controller is off and the drone battery is removed. Make sure no other 2.4G devices are nearby. Insert the drone battery and place it on a flat surface. Press and hold the drone's power button for a few seconds (Diagram D1); the drone's red and white LED lights should flash rapidly. Quickly turn on the remote; its top red LED light will flash, and the drone lights will flash slower. Push the throttle stick all the way up, then pull it all the way down; you should hear a high-pitched beep. The lights on both the drone and controller will stop flashing and become solid, indicating successful syncing. Repeat steps 1-4 if syncing fails.

TIP 1: Minimize the time between inserting the drone battery and turning on the controller to avoid sync timeout.

TIP 2: Syncing indoors or in shade makes LED indicators easier to see.

Flying the Drone

Now You Are Ready to Fly!

After successful syncing, you are ready to fly. Familiarize yourself with starting/stopping rotors, auto-land, and control functions. For beginners, practice in a large open field on a calm day. Avoid flying too high until more experienced.

Recognizing the Front & Rear

The front of the FLEX 2.0™ is indicated by two white lights, while the rear is indicated by one red light (Diagram E).

Starting/Stopping the Rotors

You can start/stop rotors manually or automatically. Ensure the drone is synced and powered on.

  • Manual Start/Stop: To start, move both control sticks down and outward until rotors spin, then release to neutral and push the throttle up for takeoff. To stop, wait about 10 seconds for automatic stop, or move both sticks down and outward again. After takeoff, pull the throttle all the way down to land.

Auto Start/Land

Press the AUTO START / LAND button on the controller for automatic takeoff or landing. You can still control direction to avoid obstacles during auto operations.

Speed Select Button

The drone has 3 speed settings: 1 (SLOW), 2 (MEDIUM), and 3 (HIGH). The default is SLOW. Press the speed setting button to cycle through speeds; 1 beep for slow, 2 for medium, 3 for high. Settings can be adjusted before or during flight.

Flight Control

This section introduces basic flight functions. For learning, fly in a large space with the drone facing away from you. As you master controls, you can move to advanced maneuvers.

Flight Practice

Practice simple vertical takeoffs, landings, turns, and rotations. Once mastered, progress to square and cross maneuvers. Diagrams illustrate Fixed-Point Landing, Square Pattern Maneuver, and Cross Pattern Maneuver.

Adjusting the Trim

The FLEX 2.0™ is pre-trimmed, but adjustments may be needed after crashes. Trim controls help balance the drone's flight:

  • Forward/Backward Trim: If drifting forward, push the FORWARD/BACKWARD TRIM button downward repeatedly. If drifting backward, push it upward. (Diagram M)
  • Bank Right/Left Trim: If banking left, push the BANKS TRIM button to the right repeatedly. If banking right, push it to the left. (Diagram N)
  • Spin Left/Right Trim: If spinning left, push the LEFT/RIGHT TURN TRIM button to the right repeatedly. If spinning right, push it to the left. (Diagrams O, P)
  • Throttle Trim: If ascending unexpectedly, push the Throttle TRIM button downward. If descending unexpectedly, push it upward. (Diagram q)

A single long beep indicates the product is center-trimmed. No sound means trim is at maximum on that side.

EMERGENCY STOP: Press the "speed setting button" and "stunt button" simultaneously to stop the drone blades from spinning. Use this if you lose control.

Calibrating the FLEX 2.0™

Recalibration may be needed after crashes affect the gyro sensors. Place the FLEX 2.0™ on a flat level surface. Ensure it's on and the controller is synced. Do not start the blades. Move both throttles and the control stick down and to the right corner for 5 seconds (Diagram R). The drone's lights will flash rapidly and then stop, indicating calibration is complete.

Troubleshooting Calibration: If lights don't flash, remove the drone battery, turn off the controller, and restart. Ensure the battery is inserted first, then the controller is turned on. Push the left throttle stick up and then down; a beep confirms sync and readiness for calibration.

Performing 360° Stunt Rolls

To perform stunt rolls: 1. Hover the drone at least 5 feet clear, set speed to mode 2 or 3. 2. Press the 360 stunt button (Diagram S); rapid beeping indicates stunt mode. 3. Quickly push the right control stick in the desired direction (Diagram T) for a right or left roll.

Note: Press the stunt button again to exit stunt mode without flipping.
