Victron Energy RV Power System Wiring Diagram

System Overview

This document outlines the wiring for a comprehensive Victron Energy power system designed for recreational vehicles (RVs). The system integrates multiple Victron components to provide robust power management, including battery charging, inversion, and distribution.

Key Components and Connections

Battery Bank

The system utilizes Victron Energy Blue Power 25.6V-300Ah NG LiFePO4 Lithium Batteries. Multiple batteries are connected in parallel, managed by Lynx Smart BMS NG units.

Battery Management

Lynx Smart BMS NG: Two units, Lynx Smart BMS-1 and Lynx Smart BMS-2, are central to managing the LiFePO4 batteries. They connect to the Lynx Distributors and provide BMS and VE.Can connections. The BMS controls charging and discharging, ensuring battery health and safety. It also interfaces with other system components via VE.Can and ATC signals.

Inverters/Chargers

MultiPlus-II 24/5000/120: Two MultiPlus-II units are configured in a split-phase setup to provide 120V and 240V AC output. These units handle inversion from the DC battery bank to AC power and also function as chargers when AC power is available. They feature AC input (AC-IN-1) and multiple AC outputs (AC-OUT-1, AC-OUT-2). Connections include VE.Bus for communication and power transfer, and they are designed to support power assist capabilities.

DC-DC Charging

Victron Energy Blue Power Orion XS 1400 12V DC/DC Charger: This unit facilitates charging of a 12V service battery from the main 24V system. It connects to the 12V Distribution Panel and the Orion XS-H.

Solar Charging

SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 12/24V 50A: Solar charge controllers are used to efficiently charge the battery bank from a solar array. They connect to the solar panels (PV) and the battery bank.

Alternator Charging

ZEUS Alternator Regulator: The system integrates with a ZEUS alternator regulator for charging the batteries from the vehicle's engine alternator. This regulator is controlled digitally via VE.Can or the ATC signal from the BMS. Connections include battery sense, alternator field, and charge light.

System Control and Monitoring

Cerbo GX & GX Touch 70: The Cerbo GX serves as the central hub for system monitoring and control, communicating with all connected Victron components via VE.Bus, VE.Can, and other interfaces. The GX Touch 70 provides a user interface for system management.

Power Distribution

Lynx Distributors: These units serve as busbars for positive and negative connections, distributing power to various loads and components. They connect to the Lynx Smart BMS.

Smart BatteryProtect 220 (SBP-220): Used for protecting loads from over-discharge and managing DC power distribution. It connects to the battery and loads, with control signals from the BMS.

Thermal Circuit Breakers: Multiple 60 Ampere thermal circuit breakers are used for protecting individual circuits and loads.

Main Switches: Various main switches (e.g., MAIN SWITCH-1, MAIN SWITCH-2) are incorporated for isolating different parts of the system.

Wiring Considerations

Emphasis is placed on keeping positive and negative battery cables as short and of equal length as possible for optimal performance and safety. Cable sizing recommendations are provided for high-current connections, such as those to the MultiPlus-II units, to comply with standards like ABYC E-11.

Safety and Warnings

The diagram includes important safety information, such as warnings about hazardous AC voltages, the need for proper ventilation during charging, and the requirement to disconnect power before making connections. It also highlights the importance of correct fuse sizing and wire gauge selection.

Configuration Notes

Specific configuration steps are mentioned, such as programming the Smart BatteryProtect for Li-Ion mode and ensuring the Cerbo GX has the latest Venus OS firmware (v3.14 or higher) for proper integration with the ZEUS alternator regulator and Victron Lynx Smart BMS NG.
