Product Overview
Trane's CGA-CXA-VGA-VXA range of Odyssey™ chillers and heat pumps is designed for light commercial applications, suitable for air conditioning areas between 150 to 700 m². These units are ideal for buildings such as banks, schools, offices, shops, and hotels, particularly those with multiple zones requiring air conditioning and limited outdoor installation space.
The Odyssey™ systems are engineered to provide comfortable air temperatures while maintaining a quiet working environment for building occupants.
Key Features and Benefits
Reliability and Efficiency
- Scroll Compressors: Known for their high efficiency and reliability in the market.
- Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers: Designed for maximum energy efficiency and wide operating temperature ranges, enabling year-round operation.
- CXA/VXA units can operate in heating mode down to -15°C.
- CGA/VGA units can operate in cooling mode down to -10°C ambient temperature and deliver chilled water down to -12°C.
- Integrated Hydraulic Module (VGA/VXA): Comprises a pump, buffer tank, expansion vessel, and balancing valve. Sizes 150-240 also include a water strainer.
- Low Ambient Dual Speed Fan: Allows operation down to -10°C.
- Optional Black Epoxy Coating: Protects condenser fins, available as standard in certain regions.
- Integrated Flow Switch and Evaporator Antifreeze Protection: Standard features for enhanced unit protection.
Safe and Simplified Installation
- Designed with features that simplify maintenance and make installations safer, easier, and faster.
- Compact design with a reduced footprint facilitates handling and on-site installation.
- Large Side Panels: Provide direct access to main refrigeration circuit components.
- Installation requires only electrical connections to the factory-supplied disconnect switch and hydraulic connections (for VGA/VXA models).
- Includes a disconnect switch.
Controls and User Interface
Units are equipped with a versatile controller specifically designed for chillers and heat pumps. This controller manages return water temperature by monitoring various operating and security parameters, including evaporator freeze protection, high and low pressure, and fan speed (especially for low ambient temperature operation).
The controller ensures optimized power consumption through features such as:
- Anti-short cycling
- Staggered compressor operation
- Defrost cycle in heating mode (CXA/VXA models only)
The user interface offers simple and quick interaction with the system. The display indicates:
- Current return water temperature
- Operating status
- Fault codes
Options and Accessories
Factory-Mounted Options
