WARNING
- w.1 To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury, mount fan directly from building structure and/or an outlet box marked acceptable for fan support of 70 lbs (31.8 kg) and use the mounting screws provided with the outlet box.
- w.2 To avoid possible electrical shock, before installing or servicing your fan, disconnect the power by turning off the circuit breakers to the outlet box and associated wall switch location. If you cannot lock the circuit breakers in the off position, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag, to the service panel.
- w.3 To reduce the risk of electric shock, this fan must be installed with an isolating wall control/switch.
- w.4 To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not bend the blade brackets when installing the blade brackets, balancing the blades, or cleaning the fan. Do not insert foreign objects in between rotating fan blades.
- w.5 This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Installation – Canopy Mount and Terminal Wiring
Prep
You must be able to secure the fan to building structure or fan-rated outlet box. You have two options for installation. Pick which one works best for your location. Remove any existing bracket prior to installation.
1a Building Structure Mount
Using wood screws (AA) and washers (BB) included, install canopy mount (A) through box outlet into building structure. Drilling 9/64" pilot holes in building structure will aid in securing canopy mount (A).
1a Box Outlet Mount
Install canopy mount (A) to box outlet. Secure with machine screws and washers (provided with outlet box).
Installation – Canopy Mount and Lever Lock Wiring (continued)
1b Lever Lock Wiring
Connect wiring from ceiling to lever lock wiring (on side of canopy mount) by lifting lever and inserting wire. Lift lever on connector until fully upright to open. Insert stripped wire and secure by lowering lever. Make sure no bare or uninsulated wire is exposed.
NOTE: Twist wire strands prior to inserting into connector.
Hunter Pro Tip: Turn the wires upward and push them carefully back through the hanger bracket into the outlet box. Spread the wires apart, with the grounded wires on one side of the outlet box and the ungrounded wires on the other side of the outlet box. Make sure that the wires are still attached to the connectors.
WARNING: The ceiling fan must be grounded. If the ground wire for the installation site is not present, immediately STOP installation and consult a qualified electrician.
WARNING: All wiring must be in accordance with national and local electrical codes ANSI/NFPA70. If you are unfamiliar with wiring or in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
Installation – Fan Body, Wiring Harness, Canopy Cover, and Blades
2a Rotate the downrod into an upright position.
2b Keep downrod upright and lower downrod adapter cover and twist clockwise until tight.
Connect
2c: Install snap-on canopy (B) over downrod on fan body (C). Place the down rod ball into the slot in canopy mount (A) with built-in ceiling bracket.
NOTICE: To prevent damage to fan, ALWAYS lift holding either the fan housing or the downrod.
2d: Slide the snap-on canopy (B) over the canopy mount (A) until it clicks in place.
2e: Slide the remote receiver (H) onto top of the canopy mount (A). Connect wiring harness from receiver (H) to wiring harness from fan body (C). Connect wiring harness from canopy mount (A) to wiring harness from receiver (H).
2f: Insert the blade iron posts (C) completely through the larger end of the blade key holes (D). Slide the blade (D) away from the blade posts (C) to engage the keyholes. Lift over and lower the locking tab. Press and insert to engage the locking tab. Repeat for remaining blades (D).
CAUTION: Be sure blade is locked into place and that the locking tab is engaged.
IMPORTANT: Note: Follow the instructions on the blade. Installing it incorrectly could result in your fan not functioning.
Installation – Light Kit
Complete
Remove the cardboard plug guard before proceeding!
3a: Connect the plugs from the fan and light fixture. Make sure to line up the colored markings on the connectors.
3c: Raise the light kit to the bottom of the fan. Align the notch on the mounting ring on the top of the light kit with the pin in the mounting bracket on the bottom of the fan.
3b: Push the connector and excess wire into the hole at the top of the light fixture. The connector and excess wiring must be pushed into the light fixture in order to successfully mount the light fixture to the fan.
3d: Hold the fan body stationary and rotate the light fixture clockwise to engage the locking pin.
Installation – Glass Cover
3e: To install the glass, first loosen the thumb screws. Raise the glass to the light fixture. Tighten all thumbscrews securely.
3f: Install a bulb into each of the sockets. When necessary, replace with bulbs of same wattage.
Reversing the Fan
Ceiling fans work in two directions: downdraft (counterclockwise rotation) and updraft (clockwise rotation). To change the direction of air flow, turn the fan off and let it come to a complete stop. Use the remote control to change direction. Restart the fan.
Updraft (clockwise rotation): creates a more indirect airflow. Updraft airflow is great for moving warm air downward.
Downdraft (counterclockwise rotation): creates a direct breeze and maximum cooling effect.
Operation – Remote
The remote control is already paired for use. For your convenience, a remote function card is packed in with your remote.
To close the battery compartment: Secure the battery door to the transmitter assembly with the small Phillips head screw. Replace with a CR2032 battery when necessary. The battery should be installed with the positive (+) side up.

Troubleshooting
Fan Doesn't Work
- Make sure power switch is on.
- Check the circuit breaker to ensure the power is turned on.
- Make sure the blades spin freely.
- Turn off power from the circuit breaker, then loosen the canopy and check all the connections according to the wiring diagram.
- Make sure the blades are properly installed on the blade iron posts.
Excessive Wobbling
- Make sure the blades are properly installed on the blade iron posts.
- Turn the power off, support the fan carefully, and check that the hanger ball is properly seated.
Remote Control of Fan is Erratic
- Make sure the battery is installed correctly.
- Install a fresh battery.
Remote Only Works Close to Fan
- Change battery.
Noisy Operation
- Make sure the blades are properly installed.
- Check to see if any of the blades are cracked. If so, replace all of the blades.
Multiple Remote Issues
- If you have multiple remotes or multiple remote-controlled fans installed on the same circuit breaker and you are experiencing interference or faulty operation of your remote controls, please go to www.HunterFan.com/FAQs and click "How do I properly install multiple remote-controlled fans?" for information on how to correct this issue.
Fan moves backwards and forwards when turned on.
This is normal start-up procedure for DC motor fans. The partial movement during start-up is the result of the DC motor aligning the internal magnetic poles for proper motor operation. This design saves electricity and allows the fan to operate much quieter than standard AC motor fans.
Hunter Pro Tip:
Cleaning the Fan: Use soft brushes or cloths to prevent scratching. Cleaning products may damage the finishes.
