FAQ for Eaton's High-Efficiency Suffix "E" Cooling Products

What are the main reasons for introducing these new replacement cooling models?

Two key reasons:

How many cooling models will be impacted?

Five: SRCOOL12K, SRCOOL12KWT, SRCOOL24K, SRCOOL7KRM and SRCOOL33K.

Will the new replacement models use the same sales model?

No. The replacement models have an "E" at the end of their numbers. For example, the SRCOOL12K will be replaced by the SRCOOL12KE, the SRCOOL24K will be replaced by the SRCOOL24KE, etc.

When are the new Suffix "E" cooling models being introduced?

SRCOOL12KE and SRCOOL12KWTE are available as of March 2025. SRCOOL24KE and SRCOOL7KRME will be available in May/June of 2025. Expect SRCOOL33KE in December of 2025. However, inventory of the current models will be available through 2025 or until inventory is depleted.

Can the original cooling units still be sold?

Yes, the original cooling units can be sold for three years after January 1, 2025, except in California, where only the new Suffix "E" models can be sold.

How much more efficient are the replacement models?

A lot more!

DOE Efficiency standard: DoE under Air Conditioner/CEER

Efficiency Standard: DoE under Computer Room AC/Net Sensible Coefficient of Performance (NSenCOP)

Are the new models physically the same as the legacy models?

Not exactly, but they are very similar. Branding on the units has changed from "Tripp Lite" to "Eaton Tripp Lite Series." Also, the input connector on the SRCOOL24KE is updated from a NEMA L6-20P to a non-locking 6-20P LCDI (Leakage Current Detection and Interruption) plug.

Are the network management cards impacted by this change?

Yes, but only for the SRCOOL12KE and SRCOOL12KWTE models, which require a new Suffix "E" SRCOOLNETLXE card that will be powered by the cooling unit instead of a wall adapter.

Does the new R32 refrigerant require different transportation methods?

No changes for ground transportation, but air transportation is not allowed (UN 3552) in the United States, as R32 has a A2L classification and is mildly flammable.

Will the new models offer the same warranty?

Yes, two years for SRCOOL12KE, SRCOOL12KWTE, SRCOOL7KRME and SRCOOL24KE, and one year for SRCOOL33KE.
