Westfalia Tow Bar Installation and Operating Instructions
Opel Insignia Sedan/HB (2009-)
This document provides comprehensive instructions for the installation and operation of the Westfalia detachable tow bar, part number 10.4210, for the Opel Insignia Sedan/HB models manufactured from 2009 onwards.
General Information and Safety Precautions
National guidelines regarding installation approval must be observed. Any modifications or conversions to the tow bar are prohibited and will void the type approval. Ensure any insulating compound or underbody protection in the area of the tow bar's contact surfaces is removed. The tow bar is intended for towing trailers and for use with load carriers; any other use is prohibited.
Vehicles equipped with parking assistance systems may experience malfunctions after tow bar installation if components like the tow ball are within the sensor's range. In such cases, the sensing range should be adjusted or the parking assistance system deactivated. For tow bars with removable or pivoting balls, malfunctions are unlikely when the ball is not in the operating position.
The tow bar is a safety component and must only be installed by qualified technicians. Improper installation can lead to serious accidents. The Swedish text in this manual is binding.

Installation and Operation of the Detachable Ball Bar
Important Safety Checks Before Driving:
- The green marking on the handwheel must align with the green marking on the ball bar.
- The handwheel must be flush against the ball bar with no gap.
- The lock must be closed, and the key removed. The handwheel should not be pullable.
- The ball bar must be firmly seated in the receiver tube. Check by shaking it manually.
If any of these four checks are unsatisfactory, repeat the installation. If any condition remains unsatisfactory, do not use the tow bar as there is a risk of accidents. Contact the manufacturer.
The ball bar can be installed and removed using normal hand strength. Do not use any aids or tools, as this may damage the mechanism.
Never unlock the tow bar when a trailer or load carrier is attached. When driving without a trailer or load carrier, remove the ball bar and always insert the plug into the receiver tube. This is particularly important if the ball obstructs the view of the vehicle's registration plate or lights.

Maintenance and Care:
Repairs and dismantling of the detachable ball bar should only be carried out by the manufacturer. Affix the provided information plate to a visible location on the vehicle. Keep the ball bar and receiver tube clean at all times. Regularly maintain the mechanical parts, using only graphite for the lock. Lubricate bearing points, friction surfaces, and balls with resin-free grease or oil. This also provides additional corrosion protection. When cleaning the vehicle with a steam jet cleaner, remove the ball bar and insert the plug. Do not clean the ball bar with a steam jet.
Important: The detachable ball bar comes with 2 keys. Note and keep the key number ???? for future orders.
