Thanks for selecting the EPEVER TCP RJ45 A serial device server; please read this manual carefully before using the product. Please keep this manual for future reference.

1. Overview

The EPEVER TCP RJ45 A is a serial device server that connects with EPEVER solar controllers, inverters, and inverter/chargers via an RS485 or COM port. It communicates over the TCP network, transferring collected data to the EPEVER cloud server for remote monitoring, parameter setting, and data analysis.

Features:

  • Adopts standard network cable port.
  • High compatibility without requiring any drivers.
  • Unlimited communication distance.
  • Flexible power supply for the communication interface.
  • Adjustable 10M/100M Ethernet port.
  • Designed with low power consumption and high running speed.

2. Appearance

The EPEVER TCP RJ45 A Serial Device Server is a compact black device. Its ports and indicators are as follows:

  • Port 1: RS485 interface (3.81-4P)
  • Port 2: COM port (RJ45)
  • Port 3: Ethernet port (10M/100M)
  • Port 4: Indicators (Power, Link, Data)

Port Details:

No.PortInstruction
RS485 interface(3.81-4P)To connect the solar controller, inverter, and inverter/charger.
COM port(RJ45)To connect the solar controller, inverter, inverter/charger, and PC.
Ethernet portTo connect the router.
IndicatorTo indicate the working status.

Note: When connecting to EPEVER solar controllers, inverters, or inverter/chargers, only one interface (① or ②) can be used simultaneously (except for XTRA-N series). For XTRA-N controllers, connect via the COM port and supply external 5V power through the RS485 interface.

Indicator Status:

IndicatorStatusInstruction
Link indicatorGreen ONNo communication.
Green flash slowlyConnect to the cloud platform successfully.
Power IndicatorRed ONNormal power on.
OFFNo power on.

3. Accessories

Included:

  • Type: Included
  • Picture: [Standard network cable]
  • Name: Standard cable
  • Function:
    1. To transmit data by connecting to the router through the Ethernet port.
    2. To transmit data by connecting to the controller, inverter, or inverter/charger through the COM port.

4. System Connection

Optional Converters and Cables:

  • Type 1: RJ45 to 3.81-4P converter. Used to connect the serial device server's RS485 interface to EPEVER controllers, inverters, or inverter/chargers with an RJ45 port.
  • Type 2: RJ45 to 4-circular hole RS485 converter, or 3.81-4P to 4-circular hole RS485 converter. Suitable for Tracer-BP, Tracer-BPL, and LandStar-BPL series.
  • Type 3: 3.81-4P cable, or RJ45 to 3.81-4P converter. Suitable for iTracer-AD, iTracer-ND, eTracer-BND, eTracer-AD, iTracer-ND/DuoRacer series.

Connection Steps:

Step 1: Connect the serial device server's RJ45 port or RS485 interface to the EPEVER controller, inverter, or inverter/charger. The connection diagram uses an inverter/charger as an example.

Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates a typical solar power system. A "Utility" source connects via a circuit breaker. A "PV array" connects to a solar inverter. The inverter also connects to a "Battery" and an "AC load" (via circuit breakers). The inverter connects via an Ethernet cable to a "Router". The "Router" connects via an Ethernet cable to the "EPEVER TCP RJ45 A Serial Device Server". The "Serial Device Server" also features an RS485 interface (3.81-4P) for direct connection to the controller/inverter. The entire system is shown connecting to a cloud platform ("Data Center") accessible via "Web", "APP", and "Large screen" interfaces. Several EPEVER TCP RJ45 A devices are shown connected to the Data Center, along with other EPEVER devices like inverters.

Step 2: Log in to the cloud platform at https://iot.epsolarpv.com on your PC. Add the serial device server to the cloud platform. You can then remotely monitor solar controllers, inverters, or inverter/chargers through the cloud platforms, mobile APP, and large-screen devices. For detailed operations, refer to the Cloud User Manual.
