Introduction

This guide provides comprehensive instructions for operating the Sony WLA-NS7 Wireless Transmitter. It is recommended to read this guide thoroughly and retain it for future reference. The serial number is located on the bottom of the product. Design and specifications are subject to change without notice.

How to Use the WLA-NS7

The Sony WLA-NS7 Wireless Transmitter allows for wireless transmission of TV audio to BLUETOOTH® headphones.

A: Connecting the Unit with a TV and Making Settings on the TV

Connect the DIGITAL IN (optical digital audio input) port on the transmitter and the digital output (optical) port on a TV using the supplied optical digital cable.
Connect the DC IN port on the transmitter and the USB port on the TV using the supplied USB Type-C® cable. If the TV does not have a USB power output port, use a commercially available USB AC adapter.
Turn on the TV. For BRAVIA XR™ TVs, follow on-screen instructions for 3D surround functions. For other TVs, set the TV's digital sound setting to PCM. Refer to the TV's instruction manual.

B: Pairing the Unit with BLUETOOTH® Headphones

When using the unit for the first time or after initialization, it enters pairing mode automatically. Otherwise, press and hold the BLUETOOTH button on the unit for about 5 seconds. The blue indicator will double-flash to indicate pairing mode. Once a BLUETOOTH connection is established, the indicator stops flashing and stays lit. Refer to your headphones' instruction manual for their pairing procedure. Note that sound volume adjustment of the headphones is not available on the TV.

The WLA-NS7 Wireless Transmitter features the following:

BLUETOOTH Button: Used for pairing and connection control.
Indicator: Lights in orange or blue to show power or communication status.
DIGITAL IN Port: Optical digital audio input.
DC IN Port: USB Type-C® for power input.

About the Indicator on the Transmitter

Receiving no audio signals: Keeps flashing in orange.
PCM not specified as digital audio output: Keeps double flashing in orange.
Receiving audio signals: Stays lit in blue.
In pairing mode: Keeps double flashing in blue.
Connection attempt in process: Keeps flashing in blue at intervals of about 1 second for 30 seconds.
Connection established: Keeps flashing quickly in blue for about 5 seconds, then stays lit.
Connection attempt on hold/in process: Stays lit in blue.
Initialization complete: Flashes 4 times in blue.

Connecting the Transmitter with BLUETOOTH® Headphones

To pair the transmitter with BLUETOOTH® headphones:

Bring BLUETOOTH headphones within 1 m (3.2 ft) of the transmitter.
Connect the transmitter to a TV or AC outlet with the supplied USB Type-C® cable.
Turn down headphone volume to avoid sudden loud sound.
Press and hold the BLUETOOTH button on the transmitter for about 5 seconds. The indicator will double-flash blue.
Put headphones into pairing mode. Once connected, the indicator stops flashing and stays lit blue.
