Appliance Components
The built-in gas hob features the following main components:
- Pan support
- Control knob
- Economy burner
- Standard-output burner
- High-output burner
- Dual-wok multi-crown burner
1. Safety Information
1.1 General Information
Read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference. Do not connect the appliance if it has been damaged in transit.
1.2 Intended Use
This appliance is for cooking purposes only in a private household and domestic environment, up to an altitude of 2000m. It is not suitable for use in marine craft, caravans, or mobile homes, nor as a space heater or outdoors. Always use under supervision.
1.3 Restriction on User Group
The appliance may be used by children aged 8 and over, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental abilities or lack of experience, provided they are supervised or instructed on safe use and understand the risks. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children under 15 years old unless supervised. Keep children under 8 away from the appliance and power cable.
1.4 Safe Installation
[Warning: Risk of explosion!] Escaping gas may cause an explosion. All installation, connection, regulating, and conversion work must be carried out by an authorized professional, adhering to local regulations and supplier guidelines. Ensure sufficient kitchen ventilation. Do not connect to an exhaust gas system. Secure the power cord to prevent contact with hot parts. Connect the appliance to the power supply using an earth connection.
1.5 Safe Use
[Warning: Risk of explosion!] If you smell gas: Do not attempt to light the appliance. Shut off the gas supply immediately, extinguish all naked flames and cigarettes, do not operate electrical switches, open windows, ventilate the room, and call for assistance. Always use liquefied gas bottles in an upright position.
[Warning: Risk of poisoning!] Ensure adequate ventilation when operating the gas appliance to remove heat, moisture, and combustion products. If used intensively, ensure additional ventilation to the outside.
[Warning: Risk of fire!] Never leave hot oil or fat unattended. Do not attempt to extinguish a fire with water; cover with a lid or fire blanket. Keep flammable materials away from the appliance. Do not spray aerosols near the appliance. Do not use hob covers. Operate burners only with cookware on them. Keep fabrics away from flames. Do not place combustible objects near the appliance. If a burner does not ignite after 10 seconds, turn off and wait one minute before re-ignition. If flames are accidentally extinguished, turn off the burner control and wait one minute.
[Warning: Risk of burns!] Accessible parts can become hot during operation. Keep small children away. Never heat empty cookware. Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning.
[Warning: Risk of electric shock!] Incorrect repairs are dangerous. Repairs should only be carried out by trained specialist staff using genuine spare parts. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, customer service, or a qualified person. Never operate a damaged appliance. Always unplug by pulling the plug, not the cord. An ingress of moisture can cause electric shock; do not use steam or high-pressure cleaners.
[Warning: Injury!] Faults or damage are dangerous. Never switch on a faulty appliance. Have repairs carried out by trained personnel. Cracked glass surfaces are dangerous; do not use the appliance if the surface is cracked. Avoid draughts and spilling cold liquids on the hob. Cookware that is not the right size or is damaged may cause injury. Never touch ignition plugs while the burner is being lit.
[Warning: Danger: Magnetism!] Permanent magnets are integrated in control element bases. Persons with pacemakers must stand at least 10 cm away from magnetic control element bases and control elements.
[Warning: Risk of suffocation!] Keep packaging material away from children.
2. Installation Instructions
2.1 Statutory Requirements
Installation must conform to manufacturer's instructions, local gas fitting regulations, municipal building codes, S.A.A. Wiring Code, local electrical regulations, and any other statutory regulations.
2.2 Preparing to Install
Cut a worktop cutout with the required dimensions. Seal wooden work surfaces with a special glue seal. Ensure any adjoining vertical wall surface within 200mm of a burner is non-combustible material. Minimum depth of 50mm from the top of the worktop surface must be provided for the appliance.
2.3 Clearances
A minimum distance of 650mm is required for a range hood and 750mm for an exhaust fan. Any combustible construction above the cooktop must be at least 650mm above the top of the trivet, and no construction shall be within 340mm above the top of the burner.
2.4 Shield
If the base of the hotplate can be touched, fit a protecting shield at least 10mm from the lowest part of the hotplate. The shield must be at least 12mm thick MDF, 560mm wide x 480mm deep, with a cutout for the gas regulator/LPG connection.
2.5 Positioning the Appliance
Apply the supplied adhesive seal to the lower edge of the cooktop. Position the cooktop into the recess and secure it using the supplied brackets. Ensure adequate ventilation around the top and sides.
2.6 Electrical Connection
An electrical 10 Amp socket must be within 1m of the hotplate and remain accessible. The appliance must be earthed. The connecting lead must be fixed to the kitchen unit to prevent contact with hot parts. A wiring diagram shows connections for switch, blue wire, brown wire, terminal, and ignition module.
2.7 Gas Connection
Connection must be made by an authorized technician. Ensure compatibility of local connection conditions (gas type) with appliance settings. Connect to the gas supply with an accessible isolation valve. Use pipe compound or thread sealant for connections. Flexible hoses must comply with AS/NZS 1869, 10mm ID, class B or D, no more than 1.2m long. Ensure hose does not contact hot surfaces or flues. Check all connections for gas leaks with soap and water. Ignite all burners to ensure correct operation. Attach the duplicate data plate near the rating plate.
2.8 Converting the Cooktop from Natural Gas to ULPG
This requires a licensed gas fitter. Before conversion, disconnect electricity and turn off gas valves. Injectors need to be replaced according to the following chart:

Replace nozzles using the appropriate wrench and tighten carefully. After conversion, attach the sticker showing the new gas type near the rating plate.
3. Preventing Material Damage
ATTENTION: Heat can cause damage to adjacent appliances or kitchen units. Open a window or switch on an extractor hood when the appliance is in operation for extended periods. Do not use two burners for one item of cookware. Avoid prolonged use of griddle plates or clay pots at full power. Do not use large or heavy cookware that can bend pan supports. Do not remove pan supports and enclose burners with a wok stand. Do not place flame tamers or asbestos mats between pan and pan support. Avoid using large cookware on burners close to control knobs. Handle cookware carefully to prevent scratches on the hob surface. Do not let hard or pointed objects fall onto the cooktop. Clean up spilled sugar or food with high sugar content immediately with a glass scraper.
4. Environmental Protection and Saving Energy
4.1 Saving Energy
Choose a burner roughly the same size as your pan. Center cookware on the hob. Cover saucepans with suitable lids. Lift lids as infrequently as possible. Use a glass lid to view cooking without lifting. Use cookware suitable for the quantity of food. Cook with only a little water. Turn down to a lower power level early on.
4.2 Disposing of Packaging
Packaging materials are environmentally compatible and can be recycled. Sort components by type and dispose of them separately.
5. Familiarising Yourself with Your Appliance
5.1 Control Knob
Control knobs set the flame height. They are removable and magnetic. Keep magnetic data carriers, TVs, and monitors away from the control knob.
5.2 Control Panel
The control panel has sensors and displays for functions like kitchen timer, ventilation control, and hood lighting. Activate by pressing a control knob inwards.
5.3 Burner
Burner components include the burner cover, burner cup, thermocouple for flame monitoring, and ignition plug.
5.4 Pan Supports
Insert pan supports correctly and place cookware centrally on them. Never place cookware directly on the burner. Remove pan supports carefully, as adjacent supports may move.
6. Before Using for the First Time
Configure settings for initial start-up and clean the appliance and accessories. Connect to Home Connect by following the instructions in the Home Connect app.
7. Software Update
If connected to Home Connect, software updates may be available for additional functions, optimization, troubleshooting, or security. Information is available on www.neff-home.com.
8. Accessories
Original accessories can be purchased from after-sales service, specialist retailers, or online. Available accessories may include an additional wok grid, espresso maker grid, simmer cap, and simmer plate, each with specific uses.
9. Basic Operation
9.1 Igniting a Gas Burner
The hob has automatic ignition. Press and hold the control knob for the selected burner, turn anti-clockwise to the highest level, and keep pressed until the flame ignites and the symbol appears. Release the knob after a few seconds. If the burner does not ignite, repeat the process, holding the knob longer. Ensure burner parts and pan supports are correctly inserted and clean.
9.2 Safety System
The safety system (thermocouple) prevents gas flow if the flame goes out. You must hold the control knob for a further four seconds after ignition for the system to engage.
9.3 Igniting a Gas Burner Manually
In case of a power cut, press and turn the control knob to the highest level, then use a lighter or flame to ignite the burner.
9.4 Switching Off a Burner
Turn the control knob clockwise to the 'Off' position. The residual heat indicator may appear.
9.5 Normal Behaviour During Operation
Normal operational sounds and smells include slight hissing, initial odors that disappear, orange flame (due to dust/spills), and popping noise after switching off (safety system). The symbol may appear if electronics overheat.
9.6 Kitchen Timer
Use the control panel to set a timer. Press the timer button, select the time using +/- controls, and confirm. A signal tone sounds when the time elapses.
10. Cookware
10.1 Suitable Cookware
Use cookware with a suitable diameter that does not protrude over the hob edge. Flames should not touch the sides of the cookware. Recommended base diameters are:
- Wok multi-crown burner: 22-30 cm
- High output burner: 20-26 cm
- Standard output burner: 14-22 cm
- Economy burner: 12-16 cm
10.2 Using Cookware
[Warning: Risk of fire!] Maintain at least 50mm distance between cookware and flammable objects. Use cookware with a thick, flat base. Place cookware centrally on the burner. Do not place cookware directly on the burner.
11. Recommended Settings for Cooking
Power levels 1-9 can be used for various cooking tasks. Settings may vary based on food, gas type, and cookware material.

12. Home Connect
This appliance can be networked via Home Connect. Connect your appliance to a mobile device to control functions via the Home Connect app. Ensure your mobile device and appliance are within range of your home Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi indicator on the control panel shows connection status (e.g., lights up steadily: Network connection saved and Wi-Fi active; flashes: Network connection being established). You can add or remove Wi-Fi networks via the control panel. 13. Hob-based Hood Control
If the hob and extractor hood are Home Connect compatible, they can be connected via the Home Connect app. This allows control of the extractor hood's fan settings and lighting from the hob's control panel.
14. Cleaning and Servicing
14.1 Cleaning Product
Use suitable cleaning products available from after-sales service or online. Do not use harsh, abrasive detergents, industrial soap, steel wool, scouring sponges, knives, sharp objects, or steam-cleaning appliances.
14.2 Cleaning Recommendations
Clean all parts after each use, allowing the appliance to cool down. Wipe up spilled liquids immediately. Control elements can be removed for cleaning, but the control knob base and holder must not be removed. Pan supports can be cleaned by hand or in a dishwasher at max 60°C. Burner parts should be cleaned with a non-metallic brush. Thermocouples and ignition plugs are sensitive and should be cleaned carefully, avoiding moisture.
15. Troubleshooting
Minor faults can be rectified by the user. If the appliance is faulty, contact Customer Service. Common malfunctions include:

15.2 Access to Product Information
To identify your appliance, switch on the hob and within 10 seconds, touch and hold the specified button for 4 seconds to access product information (E-Nr., FD, Z-Nr.).
16. Service
Only authorized personnel from the Service Centre should work on the appliance. Contact the authorized service provider for issues like yellow burner flame tipping, sooting of cooking utensils, or burners not lighting properly.
17. Customer Service
Contact Customer Service for warranty information and support. You will need the product number (E-Nr.), production number (FD), and consecutive numbering (Z-Nr.) of your appliance. These details can be found on the appliance's rating plate or the appliance certificate.
18. Disposal
Dispose of the old appliance in an environmentally friendly manner. Information on disposal methods is available from specialist dealers or local authorities. This appliance is labelled in accordance with the European WEEE Directive.
19. Information regarding Free and Open Source Software
This product includes software licensed as free or open source. Applicable license information is stored on the appliance and accessible via the Home Connect app or the brand's product website. Source code is available upon request from oss-request@bshg.com.
20. Declaration of Conformity
BSH Hausgeräte GmbH declares that this appliance with Home Connect functionality conforms to essential requirements of Directive 2014/53/EU. A detailed RED Declaration of Conformity can be found online at www.neff-home.com. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are used for Wi-Fi, with 5 GHz band restricted to indoor use.
