CANOR VIRTUS M1 Vacuum Tube Power Amplifier
User Manual
Introduction
Dear music lover,
Thank you for purchasing the CANOR VIRTUS M1 mono power tube amplifier. To preserve and maintain the best characteristics of your amplifier, we recommend you carefully read the following instructions.
Safety Instructions
Please read before putting the device into operation:
- Read the instructions: All safety information and instructions should be read before using the amplifier.
- Keep the user manual: The safety and user instructions manual should be stored for possible later use.
- Follow the instructions: All safety and user instructions should be followed.
- Water and moisture: The VIRTUS M1 amplifier should not be placed near water, for example near bathtubs, swimming pools, kitchen sinks, etc.
- Accessories: Do not use accessories not recommended by the manufacturer.
- Placement: Do not place the device on an unstable pad. The device may fall, which can cause serious injuries to children or adults, as well as damage to the device. Use only pads or racks recommended by the manufacturer or pads sold to dealers with this device. Any placement of the device should be in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and only accessories recommended by the manufacturer should be used.
- Ventilation: The unit should be placed to ensure proper airflow. This means it is not allowed to place the amplifier on a sofa or upholstered furniture. The amplifier may not be covered over when in operation; it would otherwise prevent proper airflow around the vent holes of the amplifier.
- Heat: The amplifier has to be placed so as to avoid the heating effect from heat sources, for example, radiators or stoves, or other heat-producing equipment. The distance from the back wall of the unit may not be less than 20 cm, and 20 cm above the area of VIRTUS M1 may not be any barrier. Alongside the unit, ensure a 20 cm minimum distance from other objects.
- Power source: The device must be connected only to a main supply for which it is designed.
- Power cord: Pay particular attention to the power cord; it must be positioned to avoid setting foot on it and ensure it is protected against mechanical damage.
- Long periods of non-use: If you do not use the amplifier for a longer period of time, disconnect the power cord from the mains supply, or at least turn off the main power switch located on the back panel.
- Objects containing liquid: Do not place objects like vases or flowerpots so that they can fall down on the amplifier and, eventually, prevent liquid from being leaked out onto the amplifier.
- Damages requiring service: Equipment should be repaired only by qualified service in the event that:
- a. The power cord is damaged.
- b. The device dropped into water or was poured on.
- c. The device was exposed to rain.
- d. The device works incorrectly.
- e. The device fell on the ground or is otherwise mechanically damaged.
- Repairs: All repairs must be entrusted to a qualified service.
- General warning: Use the device only in accordance with this user guide.
The manufacturer declines any liability should these safety measures not be observed. To help you avoid an electric shock, do not expose the amplifier to rain or moisture! [⚡]

Product Overview
Front Panel:
- POWER [⚡]: Turning on and off the amplifier.
- UL [UL Mode]: Pressing this button switches to an ultra-linear mode.
- TR [Triode Mode]: Pressing this button switches to a triode mode.
- DIMM [Display Dimmer]: Sets the display brightness in steps, from a turned-off display to its maximum brightness. After turning it on, the display is in its middle brightness level. In the state of a turned-off display, operating the device with function keys lights up the display, and after a few seconds, it turns off again.
* It is highly recommended to stop or pause the source of the signal when switching between Triode and Ultralinear mode.
Back Panel:
- FUSE TUBE 1 / FUSE TUBE 4: 5x20 T315mA
- TRIGGER INPUT [Trigger Port]: Input for triggering cable from the preamplifier.
- TRIGGER OUTPUT [Trigger Port]: Bypass output for triggering cable.
- POWER [Power Inlet/Switch]: Mains power inlet/mains switch with mains fuse 5x20 T3, 15A.
- INPUT [XLR Input]: Analogue 3-pin XLR input.
- OUTPUT [Speaker Terminals]: Dedicated 4-Ω and 8-Ω speaker terminals.
- ZERO FEEDBACK / FEEDBACK: Enables instant switching between connection with feedback or with zero global feedback.
Basic Functions of Reproduction
1. Plug the power cord into the VIRTUS M1.
2. Turn on the amplifier using the Power Main switch located on the back panel. The VIRTUS M1 will enter stand-by mode, indicated by a red LED diode on the front panel.
3. After pressing the Power button on the front panel, a controlled turning-on sequence is initiated. This sequence includes cooling and preheating the tubes, which extends their lifespan. The cooling cycle also occurs when the unit is turned off.
4. If the main switch on the back panel is not turned off (i.e., after turning off via the front panel button), a 45-second countdown for cooling without indication begins. If you turn on the unit during this time, the cooling will continue, indicated by a flashing red LED.
5. When the cooling cycle is over, the main transformer connects, and the slow start-up of voltage begins. This cycle lasts 45 seconds, the red LED stops flashing, and an output relay connects the signal to the input, provided the main power supply is not disconnected.
You can connect both 4-Ω and 8-Ω loudspeakers. The amplifier has separate terminals for each type.
