The ART C2 is a highly versatile, compact, side-address, wide diaphragm condenser microphone. It features a cardioid polar pattern, a two-position pad switch, and a two-position low-frequency roll-off switch, making it an ideal choice for studio condenser microphone applications for solo vocals or instrument recordings where subtlety and clarity are paramount.
As a cardioid condenser microphone, the C2 selectively picks up sound directly from the front, rejecting sounds from the sides and back. This design increases isolation and delivers controlled directionality.
In live sound and remote recording scenarios, the ART C2's cardioid pattern provides excellent feedback rejection and superior isolation. It is well-suited for most vocal applications and a wide array of solo instruments, including background brass and woodwinds, acoustic stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello), drums, and percussion. The microphone offers a full frequency response at its front, with a controlled and predictable proximity effect, which enhances low-frequency response when placed close to the sound source.
Vocalists can leverage the proximity effect to add fullness and 'bottom end' to their voice, a technique easily incorporated by experienced vocalists into their performance.
Note: The cardioid symbol on the microphone housing indicates the 'live side' or front face of the microphone, which should always face the performer.
The microphone includes a -6dB and -12dB pad switch for distortion-free reproduction of extremely loud signals. It also features a two-position -12dB/octave low-frequency roll-off switch at 100Hz and 200Hz, designed to reduce unnecessary low-end 'boominess' and interference.
As a condenser microphone, the ART C2 requires phantom power to operate. The included heavy-duty shock-mount suspension effectively minimizes vibration and handling noise, while securely holding the microphone in any desired position during recording.

Diagram Descriptions
Frequency Response Graph: A line graph illustrating the microphone's frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz. The graph shows a relatively flat response across the audible spectrum, with a slight presence boost in the upper mid-range and a gentle roll-off at the lower frequencies.
Polar Pattern Graph: A polar plot at 1kHz depicting the cardioid pickup pattern. It shows maximum sensitivity directly in front (0 degrees) and significant rejection from the rear (180 degrees), with sensitivity decreasing at angles to the sides.
