Troubleshooting

Radio Wave Reception (Time Signal)

Q1: The watch cannot perform a reception operation.

  • Is the watch battery charged? Reception is not possible with a low battery. Keep the watch exposed to light until it is sufficiently charged. (See Solar Charging)
  • Is the watch in Timekeeping Mode? The watch cannot receive time signals if automatic reception is disabled or if it is in a mode other than Timekeeping Mode. Return to Timekeeping Mode. (See Navigation Between Modes)
  • Is your home city setting correct? The watch will not display the correct time if the home city is incorrect. Modify your home city setting to indicate your location correctly. (See Specifying a Home City)
  • You have checked the above points, and the watch still cannot perform a reception operation. Is reception not possible under the following conditions?
    • When the watch is in Power Saving Mode Level 2
    • When the crown is pulled out
    • When a timer countdown is in progress
If reception is not possible for any reason, you can set the time and date manually.

Q2: The signal reception fails every time.

  • Is the watch in a location where signal reception is possible? Check your surroundings and move the watch to a location with better reception. (See Placement for Signal Reception)
  • Did you avoid touching the watch while the reception operation was in progress? Minimize watch movements and do not operate the watch during reception.
  • Is an alarm set to sound at the same time as the signal reception operation? Reception is interrupted when an alarm sounds. Deactivate the alarm. (See Activating/Deactivating the Alarm)
  • Is the signal transmitter in your area emitting a signal? The time signal transmitter may not be transmitting a signal. Try again later.

Q3: The signal should have succeeded, but the time and/or date on the watch is incorrect.

  • Is the time zone for the watch's location of use correctly specified? Specify the time zone for the watch's location of use. (See Configuring DST Setting for Home City, Configuring DST Setting for World Time)
  • Is the alignment of the hands and/or day indicator correct? Correct the alignment of the hands and/or day indicator. (See Aligning the Hands and Date)
  • You have checked the above points, and the time and/or date is still incorrect. Set the time and date manually. (See Manual Time Setting)

Operations of the Crown

Q1: Nothing happens when I turn the crown.

If you do not perform any operation for approximately two minutes after pulling out the crown (about 30 minutes for hand and day indicator alignment operations), the crown operations will be automatically deactivated. Return the crown to its normal position, then pull it out again to reactivate crown operations. (See Using the Crown)

Q4: The hands suddenly start moving at high speed.

This phenomenon is due to one or more of the following reasons and does not indicate a malfunction. Simply wait for the normal hand movement to resume.

  • The watch is exiting Power Saving Mode. (See Power Saving)
  • The watch is receiving a time signal and setting the time. (See Setting the Date and Time)
  • The watch is connected to a phone to set the time. (See Connecting to a Phone to Set Watch Time)

Q5: The hands are stopped and the buttons do not function.

The watch is in recovery mode after charging. Wait until the recovery process is complete (approximately 15 minutes). The watch will recover faster if placed in a very bright location.

Q6: Why is the current time displayed on the watch offset (by nine hours, three hours, or 15 minutes, etc.)?

The city setting is incorrect. Select the correct setting. (See Specifying a Home City)

Q7: The time displayed on the watch is offset by one hour or 30 minutes.

The Daylight Saving Time setting is incorrect. Select the correct setting. (See Specifying a Home City)

Q8: The hands and/or day indicator are not aligned correctly.

Magnetic exposure or strong impacts can disrupt the alignment of the hands and/or day indicator. Correct the alignment of the hands and/or day indicator. (See Aligning the Hands and Date)

  • Refer to the information below for how to manually align the hands and day indicator. (See Aligning the Hands and Date)
