Do not use your watch for scuba diving or other types of diving that requires air tanks.
Watches without WATER RESIST or WATER RESISTANT markings are not protected against sweat. Avoid exposure to large amounts of sweat or moisture, or direct splashing.
Even if water-resistant, avoid operating the crown or buttons while wet. Do not wear the watch in a bath, heated swimming pool, sauna, or high temperature/humidity environments. Avoid wearing while washing hands/face, doing housework, or tasks involving soaps/detergents.
After submersion in seawater, rinse with plain water to remove salt and dirt.
To maintain water resistance, have gaskets replaced periodically (every 2-3 years). A technician will check water resistance during battery replacement. Use only specified battery types.
Some water-resistant watches have leather bands. Avoid swimming or washing with leather bands exposed to water.
The inside surface of the watch glass may fog due to sudden temperature drops. Fogging that clears quickly is normal. Sudden, extreme temperature changes can cause longer fogging. If fogging persists or moisture is visible inside, stop using the watch and take it to a service center.
Your water-resistant watch has been tested according to International Organization for Standardization regulations.
Band
Do not fasten the band too tightly to avoid skin irritation from sweat. Ensure enough room to insert a finger between the band and wrist.
Deterioration, rust, or other conditions can cause the band to break or come off, potentially leading to loss of the watch or personal injury. Take good care of your band and keep it clean.
Immediately stop using a band if you notice loss of flexibility, cracks, discoloration, looseness, or any abnormality. Seek inspection and repair from a retailer or CASIO service center.
Temperature
Never leave your watch in locations with very high or very low temperatures (e.g., car dashboard, near a heater). Temperature extremes can cause time loss/gain, stopping, or malfunction. LCD may become difficult to read at temperatures below 0°C (32°F) and above +40°C (104°F). Prolonged exposure to temperatures above +60°C (140°F) can cause LCD problems.
Impact
The watch is designed for normal daily use and light activity. Strong impacts (dropping) can cause malfunction. Shock-resistant models (G-SHOCK, BABY-G, G-MS) are suitable for activities like operating a chain saw or strenuous sports.
Magnetism
Magnetic force moves analog and combination watch hands. Proximity to strong magnetic sources (speakers, necklaces, cell phones) can cause timekeeping to slow down, speed up, or stop, leading to incorrect time display. Avoid very strong magnetism (e.g., medical equipment) as it can cause malfunction and damage electronic components.
Electrostatic Charge
Exposure to strong electrostatic charge can cause incorrect time display or damage electronic components. It may also cause temporary blotching in blank LCD areas.
Chemicals
Avoid contact with thinners, gasoline, solvents, oils, cleaners, adhesives, paints, medicines, or cosmetics containing these. Contact can cause discoloration or damage to resin, leather, and other parts.
Storage
If not using the watch for a long time, wipe it clean of dirt, sweat, and moisture, and store in a cool, dry place.
Resin Components
Storing wet resin components in contact with other items can cause color transfer. Dry the watch thoroughly before storing and ensure it's not in contact with other items.
Exposure to direct sunlight (UV rays) or prolonged dirt accumulation can cause discoloration. Friction from external force, rubbing, or impact can also cause discoloration of painted components or printed band figures. Leaving the watch wet can cause fluorescent colors to fade; wipe dry promptly.
Semi-transparent resin parts can discolor from sweat, dirt, high temperatures, and humidity. Daily use and long-term storage can lead to deterioration, breaking, or bending of resin components, depending on usage and storage conditions.
Leather Band
Avoid contact with other items while wet to prevent color transfer. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing and ensure no contact with other items.
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight (UV rays) or failure to clean dirt can cause discoloration. Rubbing or dirt can cause color transfer and discoloration.
Metal Components
Failure to clean metal components can lead to rust, even for stainless steel or plated parts. Wipe metal components exposed to sweat or water with a soft, absorbent cloth and place in a well-ventilated area to dry.
Use a soft toothbrush and a mild neutral detergent solution or soapy water to clean metal parts. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. Wrap the watch case with plastic wrap to prevent contact with detergent or soap.
User Maintenance
Caring for Your Watch
Keep your watch clean by frequently wiping with a soft cloth to remove dirt, sweat, water, and foreign matter. This ensures optimal performance.
Rinse the watch with clean fresh water after exposure to seawater or mud.
For metal bands or resin bands with metal parts, use a soft toothbrush and a mild neutral detergent solution or soapy water. Rinse and wipe dry. Protect the watch case with plastic wrap during washing.
For resin bands, wash with water and wipe dry. Smudges may appear on the surface but do not affect skin or clothing; wipe with a cloth to remove.
Wipe leather bands clean of water and sweat with a soft cloth.
Periodically rotate the crown and rotary bezel, and press buttons to maintain proper operation and prevent future issues.
Dangers of Poor Watch Care
Rust
Even rust-resistant steel can rust if not cleaned. Dirt prevents oxygen contact, leading to rust formation. Rust can cause sharp edges on metal components and dislodge band pins, risking watch loss or injury. Stop use and seek service if abnormalities occur.
Sweat and rust in crevices can soil clothing, cause skin irritation, and affect watch performance.
Premature Wear
Leaving sweat or water on resin bands/bezels, or storing in high moisture areas, can lead to premature wear, cuts, and breaks.
Skin Irritation
Individuals with sensitive skin or poor physical condition may experience irritation. Keep leather/resin bands clean. If rash or irritation occurs, remove the watch and consult a skin care professional.
Battery Replacement
Battery replacement should be done by an original retailer or authorized CASIO service center. Use only the specified battery type; incorrect types can cause malfunction.
Request a water resistance check during battery replacement. Ornamental resin components may wear, crack, or bend over time. If damage is noticed during battery replacement, the watch will be returned with an explanation without servicing.
Initial Batteries
Batteries included are for factory testing. Test batteries may deplete faster than rated battery life. Replacement of these batteries will be charged, even if within the warranty period.
Low Battery Power
Indicated by large timekeeping errors, dim display, or blank display. Operation with low battery can cause malfunction; replace batteries promptly.
Mobile Link Precautions
Legal Precautions
This watch complies with radio laws in various countries. Use in non-compliant areas may be a criminal offense. Visit the CASIO Website for details: https://world.casio.com/ce/BLE/
Use of this watch on aircraft is restricted by aviation laws. Follow airline personnel instructions.
Precautions when using Mobile Link
Keep watch and phone close (recommended range: 2 meters). Local environment, building structure, and other factors may require a closer range.
The watch can be affected by other electronic devices, especially microwave ovens. Conversely, the watch may cause radio interference or TV video noise.
The watch's Bluetooth uses the same 2.4 GHz band as wireless LAN devices. Proximity can cause interference, slower speeds, noise, or communication failure.
Stopping Radio Wave Emission by This Watch
The watch emits radio waves when the mode hand points to the radio wave symbol [e]. It also connects to the phone automatically four times daily for time adjustment.
To stop radio wave generation in hospitals, aircraft, or areas where radio waves are not allowed, press any button to terminate the Bluetooth connection.
Disabling Auto Time Correction: Configure CASIO WATCHES phone app settings to disable synchronization.
Using the Watch in a Medical Facility or Aircraft: See relevant section.
