Vantiva BGW620-700 Residential Gateway User Guide

This guide provides information on setting up and using your Vantiva BGW620-700 Residential Gateway.

Front Panel

The front panel features an indicator light and a configuration label with a QR code for setup. The AT&T logo is also present.

Configuration Label: Scan the QR code to access the configuration page. Once configured, remove the sticker.

Indicator: Refer to the LED function table for details on the indicator light.

Power Rating Label: Located on the base of the device, this label contains the model number, serial number, and electrical rating.

The rear panel contains various ports for connectivity:

Powering and Initial Cabling

Before you begin: Install the product in a vertical position for optimal performance and heat dissipation.

Connecting to the Internet:

  1. Insert the fiber-optic cable or SFP module into the respective FIBER or SFP port on the rear panel.
  2. Ensure the cable or module clicks securely into place.

Connecting the power adapter:

  1. Connect the power adapter cable to the POWER port on the rear panel.
  2. Connect the power plug to a suitable outlet.

The power indicator will blink green momentarily and then remain steady green after powering on.

WARNING: Use only the supplied power supply and cord. Using other power supplies may result in electric shock, fire, bodily injury, or property damage.

Connecting devices to your residential gateway:

Connecting devices using wired Ethernet:

  1. Connect an RJ-45 terminated Ethernet cable to one of the ETHERNET ports on the gateway.
  2. Connect the other end to your computer's Ethernet port.

Connecting Devices Using Wi-Fi:

Scan the QR code on the front of the gateway with your smartphone or tablet. Alternatively, use the Wi-Fi name and password from the label on the back and base of the gateway.

Connecting a VoIP telephone:

  1. Connect an RJ-11 telephone cable to the PHONE port on the rear panel.
  2. Connect the other end to a telephone or fax machine.

Note: A splitter can be used to connect two telephones.

RGSHELF-BGW620

The RGSHELF-BGW620 is a wall mount kit for the BGW620. It is intended for installation by trained technicians and includes all necessary fixings.

Mounting Instructions

This product is a wall-mounted shelf kit for the AT&T Residential Gateway model BGW620-700.

Caution: Do not place anything on top of the gateway or block the base's holes, as this can cause overheating. Ensure proper fiber and electrical connections. Do not place heavy items on the shelf, lean on it, sit on it, or use it improperly.

Installation:

  1. Read the BGW620-700 safety sheet before installing the shelf.
  2. Select an appropriate wall location near fiber and power connections, ensuring clearance on all sides.
  3. If possible, place the power supply (PSU) under the shelf using the cradle, bundling excess cable with zip ties.
  4. Placing the PSU alongside the gateway base may affect Wi-Fi or Bluetooth performance.

Only qualified installers should perform installation or servicing.

  1. Model, serial number, and electrical rating are on the product label.
  2. Indoor use only. Do not place outdoors.
  3. Use only the provided power supply and cord.
  4. Place the device vertically on a flat, firm surface, away from other items.
  5. Do not locate near water or moisture.
  6. Do not locate in direct sunlight or near a heat source.
  7. Do not use the device to report gas leaks.
  8. Do not block ventilation openings or place in an enclosed space.
  9. Never insert objects into ventilation openings.
  10. Unplug before cleaning. Use a dry, lint-free cloth.
  11. Environment: Air temperature 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F); Relative humidity 20% to 90%.

CAUTION: Viewing laser output with certain optical instruments may pose an eye hazard. Ensure proper termination of active fibers. Complies with 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11, except for conformance with IEC 60825-1 Ed. 3. Only Laser Class 1 Optical Transceiver can be used.

FCC Radio Frequency Interference Statement: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with Class B digital device limits. FCC Radiation Exposure Statement: This device complies with FCC radiation exposure limits for uncontrolled environments. The transmitter must not be co-located with any other antenna or transmitter. Maintain a minimum distance of 21 inches (53 cm) from the radiating element and persons. Wi-Fi devices marketed in the US must use US operation channels only. Country code selection is for non-US models only.

FCC regulations restrict operation to indoor use only. Operation is prohibited on oil platforms, cars, trains, boats, and aircraft, except for large aircraft above 10,000 feet in the 5.925-6.425 GHz band. Operation in the 5.925-7.125 GHz band is prohibited for control of or communications with unmanned aircraft systems.
