Polar Smartwatch Getting Started Guide
Information for Polar Vantage M3, Pacer Pro, and Pacer models.
Charge Your Watch
To wake up and charge your watch, connect it to a powered USB port or a USB charger using the provided custom cable. The cable features a connector that attaches to the back of the watch. The charging process involves connecting the watch to a power source via a USB cable.
Important: Before charging, ensure the charging contacts on your watch and cable are clean and dry. Gently wipe off any dirt or moisture. Do not charge the watch if it is wet.
Take Care of Your Watch
Keep your watch clean by washing it under running water with a mild soap and water solution after each training session. This helps maintain sensor accuracy and overall device hygiene.
Setup Your Watch
After waking up the watch, you will be prompted to choose your language and setup method. You have three options:
- On your phone: Recommended for the best experience, including latest updates and phone pairing.
- On your computer: An alternative setup method.
- On your watch: Direct setup on the device itself.
Use the UP [⬆️] and DOWN [⬇️] buttons to browse options and OK [✔️] to confirm your selection.
For the most accurate and personalized training and activity data, ensure your settings are precise during setup. Keep your watch updated by installing firmware updates when available, which will be notified via the Polar Flow service.
Set Up with a Phone and Polar Flow App
Note: Pairing must be done within the Polar Flow app, not through your phone's general Bluetooth settings.
- Ensure your phone is connected to the internet and Bluetooth® [Ⓑ] is enabled.
- Download the Polar Flow app from the [App Store] or [Google Play].
- Open the app and tap "Get Started".
- The Flow app will detect your watch and prompt you to start pairing. Tap "Start".
- Accept the Bluetooth pairing request on your phone. Confirm the displayed PIN code on your watch to complete the pairing.
- Sign in with your existing Polar account or create a new one. The app will guide you through the sign-up and setup process.
Once setup is complete, tap "Save and sync" to transfer your settings to the watch.

Wear Your Watch Correctly
For accurate heart rate readings during training, ensure the watch is worn properly. The watch should be worn on top of your wrist, positioned at least one finger's width above the wrist bone, with the sensor making constant contact with your skin. Tighten the wristband firmly to prevent the watch from moving on your arm.
Periodically loosen the wristband to allow your skin to breathe and for a more comfortable fit.
Your watch is compatible with Polar heart rate sensors available as accessories. A full list of compatible sensors and accessories can be found at support.polar.com/en.
Start Training
- Wear your watch and ensure the wristband is tightened.
- Press BACK [↩️] to access the main menu. Select "Start training" and then browse to choose your desired sport profile.
For outdoor training: Position yourself away from tall buildings and trees. Keep your watch still with the display facing upwards to ensure optimal GPS signal reception. The GPS icon's circle will turn green when the signal is ready.
- Once your heart rate is displayed and all necessary signals (like GPS) are acquired, press OK [✔️] to begin recording your training session.
Pause and Stop Training
Press BACK [↩️] to pause your training session. To resume, press OK [✔️]. To stop the session completely, press and hold BACK [↩️] while paused until "Recording ended" is displayed. A summary of your session will be available on your watch immediately after stopping.
