Training with Your V800

Utilizing Polar heart rate sensors unlocks advanced smart coaching features. Heart rate data provides insights into your physical condition and training response, helping you optimize training plans and performance.

Training with Heart Rate

If your V800 did not come with a heart rate sensor, one can be purchased separately.

  1. Moisten the electrode area of the heart rate strap.
  2. Attach the connector to the strap.
  3. Fasten the strap around your chest, positioned below the pectoral muscles, ensuring a snug yet comfortable fit.

After each training session, detach the connector and rinse the strap under running water. To maintain sensor functionality and prevent moisture buildup, ensure the strap is wiped dry.

Pair your heart rate sensor with the V800 before your first training session. Wear the sensor, press START, and bring the V800 close to the sensor. Confirm the pairing request by selecting 'Yes'. New sensors can also be paired via Settings > General settings > Pair and sync > Pair new device.

Starting Training

To start training, press START, select your sport, wait for all necessary sensors to be detected, and press START again to begin.

When using GPS, remain stationary with the display facing upwards until a signal is acquired. "OK" will be displayed once the signal is found.

During Training

The V800 tracks comprehensive data during training, including heart rate, training time, calories burned, speed, distance, location, and altitude.

  • Choose Display Information: Customize the data shown during sessions via sport profiles in the Polar Flow web service.
  • Take a Lap: Press START or tap the display firmly during a session.
  • Switch Sports (Multisport): Press BACK to change sports and view transition times.
  • HeartTouch: Bring your V800 close to your heart rate sensor during training to activate the backlight and check the time.

Pause and Stop Training

Press BACK to pause a training session. While paused, press and hold BACK to stop the session.

Key Features

The Polar V800 offers numerous unique features to enhance your training. Below is a summary of the most significant ones.

Training Load

Indicates how your training impacts your body and allows comparison between workouts. Continuous monitoring helps you understand your limits and adjust training intensity and duration to meet your goals.

The training load is categorized into levels: Mild (0-6h), Reasonable (7-12h), Demanding (13-24h), Very Demanding (25-48h), and Extreme (>49h). The 'Load from this session' shows the impact of the current workout.

Recovery Status

Essential for improvement, balancing training and rest is key. Recovery status informs you when you are sufficiently recovered for your next training session.

Recovery status is displayed with levels: 'Very Strained' (suggests rest before heavy training), 'Strained' (not fully recovered), 'Balanced' (training load is typical, balance between training and rest), and 'Undertrained' (exercising less than usual).

* Most accurate with heart rate measurement

Track Your Daily Activity

Wearing your Polar V800 24/7 provides a reliable recovery status based on your daily activity, tracking all movements with its integrated activity tracker.

Orthostatic Test

Optimize training and prevent overtraining by monitoring your heart rate's response to exercise, stress, and illness. The test measures heart rate at rest, standing, and compares it to previous results, helping identify atypical responses.

** Polar Bluetooth® Smart heart rate sensor required

Jump Test

Estimate leg muscle strength, power output, and neuromuscular fatigue. Available tests include squat, countermovement, and continuous jumps.

*** Polar Stride Sensor Bluetooth® Smart required

Route Guidance

Sync favorite routes from the Polar Flow web service to your V800 for navigation and exploration of new paths.

Back to Start

Navigate back to your session's starting point or any saved Point of Interest (POI).

Race Pace

Set a target time for a specific distance to help maintain a consistent pace and achieve your goal.
