Initial Setup and Operation

  1. First Use Preparation: Before first use, clean all removable parts that come into contact with water or milk with hot water. Note that any coffee residue in the grinder is from factory testing. The machine may be noisy on first use as the water circuit fills. Ensure the steam regulator (A19) is in the '0' position.
  2. Connecting to Power: Plug the machine into a power outlet.
  3. Filling the Water Tank: The water tank indicator (B10) will light up. Remove the water tank (A9), fill it with cold water to the MAX level, and replace it.
  4. Water Hardness Test: Use the provided test strip (C1) to determine water hardness. Dip the strip in water, wait a minute, and count the red squares. This helps optimize descaling frequency.
  5. Turning On the Machine: Press the power button (B1). The power indicator will light up, and the drink indicators will flash, indicating the machine is heating up. The machine performs a rinse cycle. The machine is ready when the drink and strength indicators are continuously lit.
  6. First Few Uses: For the first 4-5 uses, brew coffee to ensure optimal results.
  7. Rinsing the Steam Circuit: To rinse the steam circuit, briefly release hot water by turning the steam regulator (A19) to position 'I'.
  8. Turning Off the Machine: Press the power button (B1). The machine performs an automatic rinse cycle (if applicable) and then enters standby mode. To fully turn off, unplug the power cord.

Making Coffee

  1. Using Coffee Beans: Fill the bean hopper (A3) with beans. Place a cup under the coffee dispenser (A15). Adjust the coffee dispenser height. Select your desired coffee drink.
  2. Making 2 Cups: Place two cups under the coffee dispenser. Press the 'X2' button (B2), then select your desired drink.
  3. Using Pre-ground Coffee: Ensure the machine is on. Press the strength selection button (B5) until the pre-ground coffee indicator (B7) lights up. Add one measuring spoon of pre-ground coffee to the funnel (A4). Place a cup and select your drink. Do not use more than one scoop.
  4. Adjusting Coffee Strength: Press the strength selection button (B5) repeatedly until the desired strength indicator (B6) lights up.
  5. Adjusting Drink Volume: Select the desired drink and press and hold the button until the indicator flashes rapidly. Once the cup is filled to the desired level, press the button again to stop dispensing. The volume is saved.
  6. Making Cold Coffee: Place ice in a cup. Select the cold coffee function. The strength indicator LEDs (B6) will flash. Select the desired strength. Press the cold coffee button again to start.

Making Cappuccino

  1. Milk Selection: Use cold milk (around 5°C) for best results.
  2. Frothing Milk: Pour about 100ml of milk into a container. Insert the milk frother (A17) into the milk. Press the 'Steam' button (B8). Wait for the indicator to flash rapidly, then turn the steam regulator (A19) to position 'I'. Steam will emerge, frothing the milk. Adjust the container movement for desired froth. Turn the regulator back to '0' when done. Add frothed milk to coffee.
  3. Cleaning the Steam Dispenser: After each use, briefly release steam and hot water to clean the steam dispenser (A16). Allow it to cool before removing and cleaning the milk frother (A17).

Water Filter

  1. Installing the Water Filter: Insert the filter into the water tank after activating it by running water through it. Ensure the filter is fully submerged for ten seconds to remove air bubbles. Place the filter in its housing and push firmly. Replace the water tank.
  2. Replacing the Filter: Replace the filter when the indicator (B9) lights up, or every two months.
  3. Removing the Filter: If not using a filter, remove it and confirm its absence in the settings.

Settings Menu

  1. Accessing Settings: Press and hold the 'Menu' button (B3) for 5 seconds until the setting buttons light up.
  2. Adjusting Settings: Use the drink selection buttons to navigate and adjust settings such as coffee temperature, water hardness, and automatic shut-off time.
  3. Exiting Settings: Press the 'Menu' button (B3) to exit. The machine will exit automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity.

Maintenance and Cleaning

  1. Resetting to Factory Settings: Ensure the machine is in standby mode. Press and hold buttons 1, 2, and 'X2' for 5 seconds. The machine will emit a long beep, and all indicators will flash.
  2. Cleaning the Coffee Machine: Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, or alcohol. Do not use metal objects for descaling.
  3. Cleaning the Brew Unit: Ensure the machine is off. Remove the water tank. Open the brew unit door. Press the colored buttons and pull out the brew unit. Rinse it under running water for 5 minutes. Do not use detergents. Clean the brew unit housing with a brush. Reinsert the brew unit and close the door.
  4. Emptying and Cleaning Containers: Regularly empty and clean the coffee grounds container (A10) and the drip tray (A11).
  5. Descaling: Descale the machine when the descaling indicator (B13) lights up. Follow the instructions on the descaler packaging and in the manual, using only De'Longhi descaler. The process involves filling the water tank with descaler solution and water, running a descaling cycle, and then rinsing the machine thoroughly.
