Overview
The Audix f6 is a dynamic instrument microphone designed, assembled, and tested by Audix in the USA. It is suitable for live sound, stage, home, and studio applications. The f6 features a hypercardioid pickup pattern for effective isolation and feedback control, and utilizes an LM™ Type A (Low Mass) diaphragm for natural, accurate sound reproduction.
Its compact and easy-to-position design, combined with a wide frequency response of 40 Hz - 16 kHz and the ability to handle sound pressure levels of 140 dB, makes the f6 an excellent choice for instruments requiring extended low-frequency reproduction, such as kick drums, large toms, and bass cabinets.
The microphone is constructed with a precision cast zinc alloy body, a durable black E-coat finish, a dent-resistant steel mesh grill, and a gold-plated XLR connector. Its transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced output ensure interference-free performance, even with long cable runs.

Operation and Maintenance
The f6 is a low impedance microphone and should be connected to a "mic level" input on your console, mixer, or recording device. It does not require phantom power and is not affected by its presence when connected simultaneously. To prevent loud "popping" noises that could damage speakers, avoid plugging or unplugging the microphone from the PA system unless the channel is muted or the system volume is turned down.
While manufactured with roadworthy construction, the capsule is highly sensitive and requires careful handling. Avoid extreme temperatures and store the microphone in the provided pouch when not in use. Moisture can adversely affect the sound and performance of the microphone.
User Tips
The f6 is designed with low output to compensate for instruments with very high sound pressure levels.
Kick Drums: For best results, position the microphone centered inside the drum, pointing towards the beater. For more attack and less bass boom, move the mic closer to the beater. For less attack and more bass, move it further away. If the kick drum has no front head, place the f6 a few inches from the head for a large dynamic sound.
Toms: Position the microphone approximately 2 inches from the head, pointing towards the center of the drum.
Bass Cabinets: Position the microphone 90 degrees to the grill cloth, about 1-2 inches inside the edge of the speaker.
