This document provides installation instructions for the Audix M70 flush mount ceiling microphone, designed for professional audio applications.
Components and Preparation
The installation involves the following key components:
- M70 Microphone
- JBM70 Junction Box
- Cable Clamp (Brass)
- Terminal Block Connector
A 51mm (2-inch) hole is required in the ceiling for mounting the junction box.
Exploded View Description: The diagram shows the junction box assembly with the microphone. The microphone connects to the junction box via a terminal block. A cable clamp secures the audio cable. The junction box is designed to be mounted in a ceiling opening.
Installation Steps
- Open the lid of the JBM70 junction box and remove the male terminal block connector.
- Pass the audio cable through the cable clamp and connect it to the terminal block connector. Recommended audio cables include Belden 9451P or 82761.
- Wire the terminal block connector according to the following pin assignments: 1 = Ground, 2 = Hot(+), 3 = Cold(-).
- Connect the terminal block connector back into the junction box.
- Tighten the cable clamp and close the junction box lid.
- Remove the grille and adjust the microphone's angle as needed.
Pin Assignments
Microphone cable pinouts are as follows:
White Sheath Cable:
- Shield: Ground
- Red: Hot(+)
- White: Cold(-)
Black Sheath Cable:
- Shield: Ground
- Blue: Hot(+)
- Yellow: Cold(-)
The terminal block connector uses the following standard:
- 1: GND
- 2: Hot
- 3: Cold
Safety Wire Installation
The safety wire is used for fall prevention when mounting the microphone using eyebolts or hangers.
Procedure: Thread the wire through the cable stay barrel. Adjust the wire length by pulling the wire from the side. To loosen, press the release pins located on both ends of the barrel.
