4. Certification
WEEE Approval
This device complies with the essential requirements and other relevant provisions of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE Directive).
RoHS Approval
This device complies with the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS Directive).
Radio Waves and SAR Information
Proof of compliance with international standards (ICNIRP) or European Directive 1999/5/EC (R&TTE) is required for modem models before market placement. Protection of user health and safety is an essential requirement.
THIS DEVICE MEETS INTERNATIONAL GUIDELINES FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO WAVES.
This device is a radio transmitter and receiver designed not to exceed radio wave exposure limits (radio frequency electromagnetic fields) recommended by international guidelines. These guidelines were developed by ICNIRP and include a safety margin.
The radio wave exposure guidelines use the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) as a unit of measurement.
SAR Limit and Values
The SAR limit for mobile devices is 2 W/kg.
Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions at the device's highest certified power level across all tested frequency bands. The highest SAR values under ICNIRP guidelines for this model are:
Condition | Frequency Band | Maximum SAR |
---|---|---|
Body-worn SAR | WCDMA2100 MHz | 1.586W/kg |
During use, actual SAR values are typically below the stated values due to system efficiency and automatic power reduction when full power is not needed. Body-worn SAR testing was performed at a 5mm separation distance. To meet RF exposure guidelines during body-worn operation, maintain at least this distance from the body. Ensure any accessory used is free of metal and positions the device at the indicated distance.
The World Health Organization states that current scientific information does not indicate the need for special precautions for mobile device use. For further exposure reduction, limiting usage or keeping the device away from the head and body is recommended.
