PHEANOO P15 Soundbar Quick Start Guide

Everything you need to know about setting up your included soundbar.

1. Checking the Components

Ensure all the following components are included:

Note: Batteries are not included for shipping safety. Two AAA batteries are needed for the remote control.

2. Connecting a TV

Choose one of the following connection options:

Option 1 (Preferred): HDMI ARC

Connect the HDMI cable to your TV's HDMI ARC jack and the soundbar's HDMI ARC jack. This option enables TV remote control for power on/off and volume adjustment.

Note: This connection is only available if your TV has an HDMI port labeled "ARC".

Option 2: OPTICAL

Connect the optical cable to your TV's OPTICAL OUT jack and the soundbar's OPTICAL IN jack. This is used if your TV does not have an ARC-labeled HDMI port.

Option 3: AUX

Connect the 3.5mm to RCA audio cable to your TV's AUDIO OUT jack and the soundbar's AUX IN jack. This is used if your TV has no ARC-labeled HDMI ports.

Note: If you hear audio from the TV's internal speaker, ensure the TV speakers are turned off or set to minimum volume.

Note: Some TV models have an AUDIO IN jack only, which cannot deliver an audio signal to the soundbar.

3. Power Your System

Connect the AC power cord to the soundbar and plug it into a power outlet.

4. Choose Input Mode

Select the appropriate input mode on the soundbar using the remote control (TV ARC, OPT, AUX, BT) to match your TV connection method. The corresponding LED indicator on the soundbar should light up.

Note: The input mode on the soundbar must match the output mode of the connected external device.

5. Change Audio Settings on Your TV

! Very Important!!!

For optimal performance, adjust your TV's audio settings. Below are recommended settings for popular TV brands. Refer to your TV manual if your brand is not listed or for specific instructions.

General TV Settings:

  1. Change the TV audio output format to PCM.
  2. Enable Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) on your TV.

Note: CEC is only required for HDMI ARC connection. Different brands may use different names for CEC (e.g., Samsung: Anynet+++, Sony: Bravia Sync, LG: SimpLink).

Brand-Specific Settings:

6. "VOLUME BEEF UP" Function

If the soundbar volume is not loud enough compared to your TV speakers, even at maximum volume, you can enable the "VOLUME BEEF UP" function. This function increases the soundbar's volume level, especially for TVs with lower audio output power.

Note: If your TV's audio output power is already high, enabling this function may cause distortion, crackling, static, noise, or trigger power protection. If this occurs, disable the function.

How to enable the "VOLUME BEEF UP" function:

  1. Long press the MUTE button (marked with an 'X' symbol) on the soundbar remote control for 3-5 seconds.
  2. The soundbar will enter the enable/disable surface for this function.
  3. Press the VOL+ button on the soundbar remote control twice.

How to disable the "VOLUME BEEF UP" function:

  1. Long press the MUTE button (marked with an 'X' symbol) on the soundbar remote control for 3-5 seconds.
  2. The soundbar will enter the enable/disable surface for this function.
  3. Press the VOL- button on the soundbar remote control twice.

7. Control Your Soundbar

7b. Remote Control:

The remote control allows you to manage power, mute, volume, input sources (TV ARC, BT, AUX, OPT), playback (Play/Pause/Reset), sound effects (MUSIC, MOVIE, DIALOGUE), bass levels (BASS+, BASS-), and indicator lights.

8. Wall Mount Your Soundbar

  1. Mark the wall using the provided template.
  2. Drill screw holes at the markings.
  3. Insert the wall anchors.
  4. Insert the screws into the wall anchors.
  5. Hang the soundbar on the wall.

9. Firmware Update

PHEANOO occasionally releases firmware updates to improve soundbar performance. You can download and install these updates using a USB drive.

Update Process:

  1. Download Firmware: Go to www.pheanoo.com/firmware.html to download the latest firmware version.
  2. Prepare USB Drive: Use a USB 2.0 drive with a maximum size of 32GB. Format the USB drive to FAT16 or FAT32. Extract the downloaded firmware file (e.g., "P15 FIRMWARE.zip") and place the "ota.bin" file directly onto the USB drive. Ensure no other files or folders are on the drive. A 2GB flash drive is recommended.
  3. Install Firmware: Turn on the soundbar using the remote control. Insert the USB drive into the USB (SERVICE) slot on the back of the soundbar. The indicator light on the soundbar will flash white during installation.
  4. Completion: Once the firmware is installed, the light will stop flashing and turn solid red. It is now safe to remove the USB drive.

IMPORTANT:

10. Bluetooth Connection (Optional)

  1. Press the Bluetooth button on the soundbar or remote until the Bluetooth LED blinks blue.
