The CM423v3 is an HDMI 2.0 audio extractor that supports video resolutions up to 4K@60Hz and offers audio output via optical SPDIF or 3.5mm stereo. It also features ARC (Audio Return Channel) compatibility, allowing direct connection to an ARC-enabled TV. This makes it an ideal solution for outputting audio to an external speaker system with analog or optical inputs, especially for audio systems without HDMI inputs.

Device Ports and Controls

The device features the following ports and controls:

• Front Panel: MICRO 5V (Power Input), 5V USB Power Input, 3.5mm Audio Output, Optical SPDIF Output, HDMI Output, HDMI ARC.
• Back Panel: ARC ON/OFF Switch, Audio Mode Switch (with settings for TV/2.0/5.1), Input LED, HDMI Input.

Audio Modes

• TV (Auto) Mode: 3.5mm and SPDIF audio output formats are determined by the TV EDID signal from HDMI input (5.1CH audio is supported by SPDIF port only).
• 2.0 (2CH) Mode: 3.5mm and SPDIF ports will output stereo audio. Extracts the 2CH PCM stereo audio signal from the HDMI input and outputs it through its 3.5mm Audio/Optical SPDIF ports simultaneously.
• 5.1 (5.1CH) Mode: SPDIF port will output 5.1CH audio; the 3.5mm port is disabled. Please note the HDMI input source must contain a 5.1 channel digital audio signal, otherwise, SPDIF will have no audio output.

ARC Mode (Audio Return Channel)

ARC is an HDMI feature built into many TVs that uses a single HDMI connection to send audio from a TV back to the audio extractor, allowing you to easily connect your speaker or soundbar system.

• When ARC mode is OFF, audio signal is extracted from the HDMI source device connected to the HDMI INPUT port on the extractor.
• When ARC mode is ON, audio signal is extracted from the TV connected to the HDMI Output/ARC port on the extractor.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES

• To use ARC mode, please ensure your TV supports ARC and connect to the ARC-enabled HDMI port on the TV. You also need to enable external speakers in the TV settings.
• Please ensure the TV's ARC port is connected to the HDMI OUTPUT/ARC port on the extractor.
• Please note that some TVs only support 2CH audio via ARC; not all TVs can support 5.1CH audio via ARC.

Q: Should I use ARC ON or OFF mode?

When ARC mode is OFF, audio signal is extracted from the HDMI source device that connected the HDMI INPUT port on the extractor. When ARC mode is ON, audio signal is extracted from the TV that connected the HDMI Output/ARC port on the extractor.

Q: Can I still use HDMI INPUT when ARC mode is ON?

No, the HDMI INPUT on the extractor will be disabled when ARC mode is ON. The extractor will receive audio signal from the TV via the HDMI OUTPUT/ARC port only.

Q: Do I have to connect USB power?

Yes, external power is required to make this extractor work. You can connect the USB cable to a USB wall charger (5V/1A) or a USB port on a TV.

Q: Cannot display 4K@60Hz signal

First, please make sure all HDMI cables are 28AWG 19+1 HDMI cables, which are capable of 18Gbps. Also, you can try changing the Video output setting to Automatic or YUV, then power off and restart the HDMI output device.

Q: How to get 5.1CH Audio?

Please set the Audio Mode to "TV" or "5.1". Check if the HDMI source contains 5.1CH digital audio and enable 5.1CH audio output under the audio settings on your HDMI source device. To enable 5.1CH audio under ARC mode, please make sure your TV can support 5.1CH audio via ARC and enable 5.1CH audio in your TV settings.

Q: How do I know if my TV is ARC compatible?

ARC-compatible HDMI ports are normally labelled with the letters "ARC" for easy identification. Check your TV's HDMI ports and see if ARC is printed on any of these connectors. Please note most TVs only have one ARC-enabled HDMI port.

Q: TV remote can't control the volume after ARC enabled

After you turn on ARC, your TV remote won't control the volume. You can only adjust the volume on your speaker system or soundbar connected to the extractor.
