Yi IoT Smart Camera Instruction

Sign up and log in

To begin, you will need to sign up or log in to your Yi IoT account. This involves selecting your country, entering your email, and setting a password. You can also use other login methods like Facebook or your email.

Steps:

How to add camera

Method 1: Quick camera pairing (Bluetooth binding)

Note: This method applies to cameras with Bluetooth binding. Check product packaging or purchase page for confirmation.

1. Plug in the camera and power it on. Wait for a beep sound (approx. 20 seconds) to indicate it's ready for binding.
2. Open the Yi IoT app and click the '+' button on the home page to add a camera.
3. If prompted, allow the app to use Bluetooth.
4. The app will automatically identify nearby Bluetooth cameras. Select the camera(s) and click 'Next'.
5. Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. It is recommended to use a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
6. Wait for the voice prompt "binding successful".
7. Name your camera. Suggested names by room are provided (e.g., Living room, Hallway, Bedroom).

Note: The app may also request location permissions to help find nearby devices and estimate travel times.

Method 2: Connect cameras with Wi-Fi

When the camera is powered on, it will beep continuously. Wait for the connection from the app.

1. In the app's 'Connection Mode', select 'Connect camera through Wifi'.
2. Power on the device and wait for about 20 seconds until you hear beeps.
3. If you hear the beeps, click the 'Check the button' or 'I hear beeps'. If not, press the 'RESET' button on the camera for more than 5 seconds until you hear beeps.
4. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password. Ensure you are using a compatible Wi-Fi band (2.4GHz is recommended if 5GHz is not supported).
5. The QR code displayed on the mobile phone is scanned against the camera lens. The device will emit a prompt sound "QR code scan successful" and "WiFi connected".
6. Click 'Next' and wait for the network configuration to complete.
7. If the camera connects successfully, the app will display the 'Adding camera' page where you can name your camera.

Note: Ensure the camera is as close to the router as possible during connection.

How to use app

The Yi IoT app provides various functions for your smart camera:

• Camera setting: Access settings for your camera.
• Full screen: View the camera feed in full screen.
• Local record: Record video clips locally.
• Hear sound of device: Listen to audio from the camera.
• Voice intercom: Communicate through the camera's speaker and microphone.
• Local screenshot: Capture still images from the camera feed.
• PTZ control: Control the pan, tilt, and zoom of the camera (if supported).
• Playback: Review recorded video footage.
• Alert messages: View motion detection or other event notifications.

Note: Available functions may vary based on the camera's hardware capabilities. PTZ control is only available for PTZ cameras.

Alerts

The 'Alerts' section displays a history of detected events, such as motion detection. Each alert may include a clip or snapshot for review.

Playback

Access recorded footage from either cloud storage or an SD card.

• Cloud playback: View recordings stored in the cloud.
• SD card playback: View recordings stored on the SD card.
• Select date: Choose the date for which you want to view recordings.
• Select time: Pinpoint a specific time for playback.
• AI cloud retrieval: Utilize AI features for cloud-based retrieval of footage.

Cloud storage

The Yi IoT app offers cloud storage subscription services for backing up your camera footage. You can manage your subscription through the 'Cloud' tab.

Common problems

Q: The camera is offline or offline

1. Check if the power supply is working properly.
2. Power off and restart the device to reconnect to the network.
3. Check if the signal coverage is weak.
4. Ensure there is no signal interference in the location.

Q: How does the camera store video

1. The camera supports the F32 format with a maximum capacity of 128GB. It automatically records and overwrites old footage when storage is full.
2. You can also opt for cloud storage services to store video.
