Smart Camera Instruction Manual

Introduction

This document provides comprehensive instructions for setting up and using the Yi IoT Smart Camera. It covers initial setup, app registration, camera pairing via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and detailed guidance on using the app's features.

A camera icon is displayed above the title. Below the title, a QR code is presented with a camera icon embedded in its center, accompanied by the text 'Scan QR code and download Yi IoT app'.

Sign Up and Log In

To begin, download the Yi IoT app. The app's sign-up and login interface includes fields for email and password, options for 'Forgot password' and 'Sign up', and a 'Login' button. Users can select their country from a dropdown menu (e.g., 'United States of America (USA)'). Alternative login methods, such as Facebook (f) and X (formerly Twitter) (✖), are also available.

How to Add a Camera

Method 1: Quick Camera Pairing (Bluetooth Binding)

This method applies only to cameras supporting Bluetooth binding, as indicated on the product's purchase page or packaging.

  1. Step 1: Power On. Plug the camera into a power supply. After approximately 20 seconds, the device will emit a beep sound, indicating it's ready for app binding.
  2. Step 2: Add Camera. On the app's home page, tap the + button located in the upper right corner to add a camera.
  3. Step 3: Bluetooth Permission. If a pop-up window appears stating "Yi IoT would like to use Bluetooth", tap "OK" to proceed with automatic scanning. If this window does not appear, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the mobile phone, then select the "Bluetooth+WiFi" option in the app.
  4. Step 4: Camera Detection. The app will automatically identify nearby Bluetooth-enabled cameras. Select the desired camera(s) to bind and tap "Next".

The camera must be powered on and continuously beeping to be scanned.

  5. Step 5: Wi-Fi Selection. Select a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password. It is recommended to use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi first, as some devices do not support 5GHz Wi-Fi. The app may also request location permission to check the camera's location during binding.
  6. Step 6: Device Binding. Wait for the voice prompt "binding successful" from the camera.
  7. Step 7: Name Device. Set a name for the device. The app suggests names based on room types (e.g., Living room, Hallway, Bedroom, Kitchen, Garden, Patio, Office, Garage, Storage). After naming, the camera pairing process is complete. The app will display "Your camera is paired" and allow live video viewing and activity alerts.

Method 2: Connect Cameras with Wi-Fi

When the camera is powered on, it will continuously beep, awaiting connection from the app.

  1. Step 1: Initiate Connection. In the app, select "Connect camera through Wifi".
  2. Step 2: Confirm Beeps. The app will prompt "Power on the device and wait for about 20 seconds until you hear beeps". Tap "I hear beeps" to proceed. If no beeps are heard, press the "RESET" button on the camera for more than 5 seconds until beeps are heard, indicating a successful reset.
  3. Step 3: Wi-Fi Configuration. Select a Wi-Fi network and enter the password. Some models support only 2.4G or 5G Wi-Fi; refer to product hardware information. Ensure the phone's location service is enabled.
  4. Step 4: QR Code Scan. A QR code will appear on the mobile phone screen. Position the phone so the camera lens can scan this QR code directly. The device will emit prompts like "QR code scan successful" and "WiFi connected".
  5. Step 5: Complete Setup. Tap "Next" and wait for the network configuration to complete. If the camera successfully connects to Wi-Fi, the app will display the next page, confirming "Your camera is paired" and allowing live video and activity alerts.

How to Use the App

The app interface provides various functions, though specific features may vary depending on the camera's hardware capabilities (e.g., PTZ control is only available for PTZ cameras).

Cloud Storage

The app provides options for cloud storage subscription, accessible from the main camera view or the 'Cloud' tab in the app's navigation.

Common Problems and Solutions

Q: The camera is offline or offline

  1. Check if the power supply is working properly.
  2. Power off and restart the device to reconnect to the network.
  3. Verify that the signal coverage is strong.
  4. Ensure there is no signal interference shielding in the camera's location.

Q: How does the camera store video?

  1. The camera supports F32 format with a maximum capacity of 128GB. Once a card is recognized, it automatically records. When storage is full, it overwrites older recordings in a loop.
  2. Cloud storage service can be activated to store video.

For further app-related questions or issues, users can access "Customer Service" or "Contact Us" options within the Profile tab of the app.
